  1. I don't know enough to answer your question but I'm wondering if you are talking about RQ2-RQ3 (or some other edition) or RQG? My impression is that RQG has more powerful starting characters than previous editions, perhaps this would help? edit: ah! PhilHibbs beat me to it!
  2. I had missed that as well, thanks for pointing it out.
  3. Interesting system, I like the simplicity but I am not sure about the exponential increase, I would have to think on it further. Harnmaster also has an interesting and simple system for special success that is linear: every roll where the digit is either "0" or "5" is a special result. So overall there are 20% of 'specials', and the fraction of those specials that are special success as opposed to special failures is your skill. If your skill is 50, half of the specials will be special success, the other half special failures. If you skill is 80, then you have 16% chance of a special success and 4% chance of a special failure. I always thought it's a great way to manage that (no math or table involved), but (like Revolution) it doesn't include a 3rd level of success.
  4. Yes, exactly. We have only 5 result levels, it's not a continuum of results.
  5. I guess my table is different, although their professions are similar. To them the idea that someone with a lower skill would proportionally have more chance to break a tie on equal success levels just doesn't make sense. YGMV I guess the flip flop problem depends on what games you grew up with. We never had a problem having some rolls requiring highs and some lows.

    Races

As creativehum mentioned, theBestiary covers non-human adventurers. This a quote from the Bestiary: There are rules to create a player character for many of the intelligent races.
  7. In cases where both succeed, I would give the win to the one with the higher roll.
  8. @Videopete Thanks for the mention of Seth Skorkowski review! I checked it out and it is very informative (and entertaining)! I'm definitively making the jump as well, although it is less of a jump in my case, since I do not have any prior edition.
  9. So @Rick Meints, if my math is right, this means about now! Just fishing for an update... The holidays are coming fast, and those deliveries do take forever...
  10. And while it's an interesting discussion, perhaps you (you all, not you specifically) could start a different thread to pursue it and leave this one to Mr. Spivey's project.

    RQ Sorcery

Man! Threads like this one make me wonder if I'll ever catch up! 😧
  12. I'm interested! I am new to CoC, although I did play a couple of times about 20 years ago I am not familiar with Fantasy Grounds either but I just installed it to see if it works on my setup and it does. I'll have to learn more about that. I'm on Discord already. It really depends on when this will take place. You mentioned Wednesday evenings but not when (and in which time zone you are).
  13. I agree with this and it's how I'd handle it. There shouldn't be a skill check unless the driver had to control the animals because of some reason (a predator, fighting, etc.) and in those cases I think Herd makes sense as your trying to control/manage the animal.
  14. Wow this looks fantastic! I sure hope it get published, I certainly would love to get my hands on it. Very impressive work. It looks like a lot of hard work and passion went into it.
  15. Wow! This opens up Pandoras' Box! Is it possible to paint them? What's the material?
  16. No don't delete the thread, it's interesting. My take on this was that animal spirits were spirits of animals that were awakened in life (there is a description on p.83, result 12 of the D20 Family Heirloom table). An awakened animal has INT and spirit magic. When it dies it becomes an animal spirit.
  17. Yes I'm a bit worried about running this encounter myself.
  18. Is it possible to pre-order these? Or when will they be available for purchase? I need to get this for Christmas!!
  19. Well, I appreciate all the advice in this thread. I'm sorry it went a bit off topic but I know the intentions of everyone involved were good. To end this in a more positive note, I will say that it's a real pleasure, as someone totally new to the setting, to discover Glorantha and RuneQuest as I'm reading the material and the rules. I'm quite enjoying myself!
  20. Looking forward to this as well! I have found memories of StarFrontiers (for the great alien races and the Space Opera genre) and Traveller (for the Hard SF genre), among others. More recent games such as Mindjammer has a great setting but I don't like Fate Core system it uses. Stars Without Numbers has a great setting also (but is too D&D in space for my taste). So count me in for a BRP-inspired SF game from Chaosium! Where do I sign?
  21. Thank you for the updated PDF, and thank you for the dedication to Greg.
  22. Cool, thanks! It might also be useful to have a PDF of the changes that we could print out and insert in the physical book for reference (not the typos, but the clarifications, etc.).
  23. So there will be a 3rd version with additional changes then? The one I have has all the changes mentioned in this thread. Do we know which changes?
