  1. All this is getting me interested in converting bits of Project Darklight over to River of Heaven (there is a Cyberpunk era in the setting) It could either go in the upcoming River of Heaven Companion or if I get carried away become its own supplement
  2. Being pedantic RoH does have a section on Computer Hacking on pages 161-162, but its a very dry opposed roll (players Computer skill vs system's Security Skill/Rating) affair and probably not the exciting buring neon in VR that you are looking for in a Cyberpunk game
  3. I know I'm a bit late to the party here, and its not d100 but rather a D6 system called WordPlay (which has been described as the bastard offspiring of HeroQuest/a simplified Burning Wheel and the WEG d6 system), but I publish a small but perfectly formed Cyberpunk game called Project Darklight
  4. It may interest some of you in this thread that I'm working on a varient of OpenQuest where Stats play a greater role in determining skill levels and where there's a social conflict mechanism (which had Confiedence points dervived from CHA last pass - which may get dropped though). Its not quite there for public consumption but when it is I'll post the bits that are relevant to this thread
  5. D101 Games now has a web store where you can buy my books and magazines directly from me. Also if you are in the UK postage is free Visit the D101 Games Webstore
  6. It is 2nd Ed, but it's the no art b&w version. If you wait another week or so, the full colour illustrated version will be available via drivethrurpg.com.
  7. I've got two presign ups from the GMs presign ups, but there are two spaces left
  8. If you are going to Furnace, I'm running the following game on Saturday Evening. "Star Shine Chapter 1: Darius’ Seven Slot 3 Saturday Evening System: River of Heaven GM: Newt Number of Players: 4 You are on the run. If they catch you they will kill you. So you hid on the last planet that anyone in the whole Universe would want to find you – Earth. Burnt out Earth, Abandoned Earth, Lawless Earth. Where you hide in Kill City, beneath the Skyscrapers where the elites look down on the huddled masses of poor. Where the pollution is so bad, if you didn’t have a working mask you’d be drowning in it. Then a woman called Carla in a bar tells you that legendary Lord Darius, captain of the renegade Step Ship “Star Shine”, is looking for a crew. That he’s looking for people like you to offer a ticket off this hell planet to a life of freedom amongst the stars. All you need to do reach the orbital elevator on the other side of the city, while playing a deadly game of hide and seek with the Hunter-Killers of his rival Lord Algernon. River of Heaven is a D100 Science Fiction game set in the 28th Century. This adventure is the beginning of an epic series of con-adventures which will span the game’s setting. As well as the fiction of writers such as Alastair Reynolds, this adventure pulls heavily from TV series such as Firefly and Blakes 7." I'm very much running this as a 'Pilot' that if its successful will be an ongoing Convention Campaign, supported by myself and other D101 writers. Further details on that when it happens
  9. We have a cover courtesy of Duckmeister Stewart Stansfield. I've got 60+ pages of content lined up: Lightbringers Quest a different take on a familiar tale by Matt Ryan, which allows players and narrators new to HeroQuest and Glorantha dive right in and see what is special about the rules and setting. God Forgot, by Barry Blatt gives his take on this Zzaburi State within the Holy Country.. Light and Death is a Lunar Adventure set in Dara Happa by Neil Smith. The Awakening is an adventure by Scott Crowder set within exactly 500 Years after the Dragon Kill in Dragon Pass, where the heroes face being trapped in the Dream of a Dragon. Zirta an Umathelan City State setting in Pamaltera (Gloranthan’s southern Continent) by Simon Bray Why the Story is the Best, Mythological fiction by Dr Moose The Land of Flowers a mini-Kralora setting by myself, filled with Kick ass Kung Fu heroes and weird sinister adversaries. Currently the 'zine is in Editorial/Proofing/Art commission, and I'm looking to have it out by Oct/Nov. More details and updates via the Hearts in Glorantha Blog
  10. Hurrah! Congrats to Loz n Pete for pulling this one round so quickly All looking good chaps
  11. For the record Charisma is not just a measure of looks.Quoting from the rule book: "Charisma (CHA): This quantifies a character’s attractiveness and leadership qualities." While CHA lacks a big Secondary Attribute (like Hit Points, Magic Points or Damage Modifier) that it directly feeds into it plays a big part in determining the starting base for all the game's Social Skills i.e. Influence, Performance and Relationshps (if you are using that optional rule). As other posters have pointed out that if you are makeing players roll for social situations this is a big deal. Especially in games, like mine, where combats are few and far between because the players realise how deadly they can be. Even if you are not making rolls for social interactions, there's still the guidance in the rules about using Charactersistics as a guide for roleplaying. If a character has CHA 10, I would be well within my rights to tell the player he can't charm and smooth talk his character out of every situation, no mater how well he acts it out, because his character is a bit dull socially Some of the other suggestions you are making are over thinking the situation as far as OpenQuest goes. Its meant to be a system which is direct and to the point, and the rules surrounding Charisma in play get this across, and makes it not a dump stat.

We had a brief disscussion about OQ's suitablity for Dungeon Crawling in this this thread:
  13. Woohoo the end of one era and the starting of a new exciting one!!
  14. Printed copies are easily available to get via Drivethrurpg.com as Print on Demand, and I'm working to make them available directly from me via a webstore. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/3240/D101-Games
  15. River of Heaven & its adventures Reunion, The Last Witness & A Message from Furthermost (all available ) + River of Heaven Companion (being worked on as we speak)
  16. Joerg pretty much sums it up. OQ Battle Magic is modeled after my memories of playing RQ 3 pretty much consistantly during the 90s, with Spirit Magic (Battle magic under a different name) as the magic of choice because EVERYONE got some at character gen. Magic is powerful, but only in the absense of the opposistion using magic. Which means if you use the Monsters as People principle, the aquistion of magic by NPCs and the advancement of maginitude by the PCs in response can rapidly become its own Arms Race And this is before we even get to characters using Sorcery and Divine Magic...which I deliberately left out of OpenQuest Basics and Life and Death to keep things simple
