The source is the same, the path to it is different. Personally, I view Runes as the source and Techniques as the means. A God, a spirit or a sorcery spell (the structure you create then casting a sorcery spell) is the catalist for the power you call forth. Sorcery cuts out the 'middle man', of course since the sorcery spells are not pre complied (sorry for IT terminology 🤪 ) they take more time to learn and cast.

You are trying to twist things which are pretty simple here. Sorcery give you a way to access power and cast magic magic without gods or spirits, period. It does not mtter if you learn the spell from a Lhankar Mhy grimore or are taught the spell by a Chalana Arroy healer, or you get it from a Lunar magician, or even if you get it somehow on a HeroQuest.

That is how we always played it, but a special was 12D6 and in RQ3 Fireblade was passive.

Exactly. I also beleive that the way it is taught may be different. In fact it is likely to be different from teacher to teaacher even if both are part of the same temple. May even use different Runes and Techniques for the same spell.

Neither does Lhankor Mhy, but they have people who know it and it is considered a valuable tool and is taught to those who are willing and egar to learn.

Jeff has recently (like yesterday and the day before) posted some very intersting information on the top of Sorcery and Malkioni in general on Facebook. It is up to him to repost it here if he wishes, but a lot of it went to the root of the question here. Is it possible for someone to pick up Sorcery later in life? .... yes. Will it take a LOT of time and study? .... YES. Is there a shortcut? ... Of course, one wold just need to know the right HeroQuest.

I am assuming that the snake is not Intellegent (it is a possibility since it is Chaotic, but for now lets assume it is not). In this case I would argue that it has no other urges at this moment except self-preservation and therefore would not register on this spell which seems to pick up on intent.
