  1. Whoever posted that needs to have a look at the ideologies underneath the human bodies a little bit more. Yes, RQG art shows a lot of female bare breasts, but it shows them as equal to the male ones, and that is very good. Normally you see the male nude figure as an image of power and the female one as an image of arousal, and this does not happen at all at RQG, by the gods watch thw picture of Vasana fighting spirits! She's nude and intimidating, not a figment of christian modesty in there, just a naked warrior. There are of course other images where the nude female figure intends to convey sensuality, but those are strictly restricted to godesses or women that actually WANT to convey that, as they are fertility oriented deities or cultists, and it's not exclussive of women. Also the statement says more about whoever posted it than about the art itself, as he/she is the one who is fixating on the female breasts, and thinking they have an intrinic differentiated value, and not on the huge amounts of pictures of male breasts and females covered in clothes/armor. I do agree OTOH that more of body types would be really nice (one of the greatly forgotten bodies, the buffed women, we already have aplenty in RQG, and that is nice), but I trust on it improving, having seen the Cult's Book art. Also I don't get the comparison with DnD but whatever, DnD fanboys will do anything to try to shit at other games for some reason.
  2. If I was to invent their story after their destruction (I think there's nothing written about it, but I'm sure it will be explained in the Sartar Set), I would say some of them allied wulf and inhabited it's conquered territories. After all, the Maboder were the most pro-lunar of the tribes anyway (that's why I like them so much), and one would expect a certain degree of 7M initiates, so when the Telmori attacked and broke the tribe, and after that a lunar warchief retook part of their lands, why not join him as his warriors? After the Dragonrise everything is different of course, the Great Winter has alienated many pro-lunar sartarites, and their continuous defeats and escape from Sartar makes most pro-lunars have to act with caution as to not be branded traitors, and with Wulf and most lunar soldiers gone, they probably seek some sort of independence from their remnants, and of course to restore the tribe and clans. I would say that in 1625 ex-maboder warbands occupy the land of what was Wulfsland, only now with far less warriors to fend off the Telmori and have a cordial relation with the veterans at Stonegate. The Cisina, Culbrea and Torkani don't love them, but as others said, they prefer them to the werewolves. Kallyr most certainly doesn't like them, and favors the Telmori, but she can't just send an army against them, as the neighboring tribes would not like it, and she doesn't have the soldiers to spare anyways, so she just silently supports the Telmori cause. But this is all fanfiction, we will se once the Sartar Set comes out.
  3. There are also 7 pregens, as I suppose you know, on the Core Rulebook, even though I understand that it's very tempting to wait for the new ones, they all look good and 14 (or was it 15?) is a very open choice for your players, who will most certainly find at least one they like. It's announced for summer, late may at the earliest, but I would expect june. As far as I have followed their work, Chaosium never tells the exact date of release or even the month, to not run into those "delay" problems that so usually we see in videogames these days, it's though for fans but it's underastandable. At the end you have to make a balance, is waiting a couple of months worth it? Maybe you could try to run the Quickstart as a one-shot to show them the game, or some other somewhat short adventure with pre-gens, maybe creating them yourself.
  4. That is indeed correct, and it's surprising. ̶I̶f̶ ̶I̶'̶m̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶m̶i̶s̶t̶a̶k̶e̶n̶ ̶(̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶c̶k̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶a̶t̶m̶)̶ ̶b̶o̶t̶h̶ ̶V̶a̶s̶a̶n̶a̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶V̶o̶s̶t̶o̶r̶ ̶(̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶Y̶a̶n̶i̶o̶t̶h̶)̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶4̶ ̶s̶p̶e̶c̶i̶a̶l̶ ̶r̶u̶n̶e̶ ̶s̶p̶e̶l̶l̶s̶,̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶S̶u̶m̶m̶o̶n̶ ̶X̶ ̶e̶l̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶a̶l̶,̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶d̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶l̶i̶e̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶h̶a̶d̶ ̶3̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶h̶o̶i̶c̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶S̶u̶m̶m̶o̶n̶ ̶E̶l̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶a̶l̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶f̶r̶e̶e̶.̶ Just checked the Rulebook and I was mistaken, I think the confusion comes from that what I said is true but only in the Quickstart version, which is somewhat different from the current one. I personally rule it so that all cult spirits (elemental or not) that are present at the Special Rune Magic list can be summoned with Summon Cult Spirit without having to learn the specific spell. It's not perfect, but after having the doubt for a lot of time and checking the Q&A with little success, I just chose to make it that way, as I know that my players won't exploit it too much. Well Lunars are masters of elemental versatility, the cult of the Young Elementals is popular in the LE after all. In game terms I don't think it's that much of a buff, though I might be wrong, as RuneQuest is not pokemon, and you don't really get much of an advantage of using some elemental rune over the others. Despite this, Vostor only knows Summon Fire Elemental, so one could make that each 7M cultist has to choose one elemental and stick with it. Edit: I was indeed wrong about the pre-gens,and if we assume that the pre-gens need to spend one of their 3 starting rune spells to get the elemental summons, then they don't come "free" as I understood. I don't mean to be harsh, but I think all this mess is caused by a poor choice of trying to link Summon Cult Spirit to Summon Elemental (or other spirit) or even of including Summon Cult Spirit at all. If you need a specific and distinct spell to summon an elemental, then you don't really use SCS, you use that specific spell, saying that "you summon the elemental by using SCS" despite the fact that you need to also know a distinct spell for each spirit you want to summon only messes up the players and GMs.
  5. The stakes for this campaign are very high, it's incredibly ambitious, not only making an End Times but letting the players really interact and change things. What I really hope is that the campaign will be open for the players to not be exclusively ravid Sartarite nationalists and Orlanthi fundamentalists. If it could be adapted for having the characters on the lunar side would be awesome, but I really doubt it will happen, so I'm content with the only way of going through the campaign not be following Argrath like a pack of puppies (even though if the players really want that then I'm okay with it). Really looking forward to it in any case.
  6. And this is even worse if you are playing one of the many games that for some reason divides "hide" and "stealth". No matter in which of the 2 you invest your points, it's the other one which would have been useful for the only 2/3 times that situation appeared, but it wouln't matter anyway as one of your fellow players rolled an 80 and was discovered and unless you are planning to let that player get blasted into oblivion by trying to take the enemies that were intended for the whole party just for getting a bonus to hit or something, you all got discovered.
  7. Thanks for all the responses guys, as always.
  8. Hello, quick practical question for a game I'm running. In Glorantha ransoms can be very costly, and a fight between two rivan clans can end up in a hefty weregild. So, in regards to this, how many lunars do you think an average sartarite clan could have in his treasury ready to pay for this kind of thing? And a tribe? Let's say a clan end with a weregild of 2000 lunars, could they really pay the fine? Do you think they would? Can the tribe contribute to the "fund" if they want to? Thanks.
  9. It seems linked to Death cults, which makes sense really. The Dark Earth has been already talked about here, Maran Gor (Death Earth Disorder) is very fond of ritual murder, but it's not the only one. Belintar's system is pretty much based on ritual (self) sacrifice, as the winner or the tournament sacrifices his/her body to host Belintar's divine soul for a short time, and Belintar is the master of Luck and Death. The Lunars also practice ritual sacrifice of monarchs pretty often if I'm not mistaken. HonEel is the prime exemple, as she sacrifices Pyjeemsab, King of Tarsh; also decades later JarEel sacrifices another Tarshite King, Moirades, using HonEel's rituals. This practices are also known in the Lunar Heartlands, Moonson Argenteus is murdered by the Great Sister in order to bring down a "more appropiate" (some may say less incompetent) TakenEgi. One can also think that, given that Glorantha tries it's best to stay "bronze age", ritual sacrifice of kings is a way to, umm, keep the rulers under certain constraints, so that they don't become too powerful. The heortings (in the modern sense of the term) don't need that because their chiefs and kings are already limited by their ring and election processes, that make them far from absolute rulers. The Tarshites OTOH threw that "democratic" (more like oligarchic really) processes away to become a hereditary monarchy, and thus had to resort to ritual sacrifice. In RW history, I think it was for the same reasons too.
  10. You must have a really good vision bc I can't read a letter from those sections 😅. But the fact that you point to "ride" makes me think that whatever he/she rides makes the origin obvious, so it must be a praxian, probably Impala Tribe but who knows.
  11. Maybe he's like Yello Mello, an outcast to his or her community, maybe even a baboon too. Dazarim doesn't look a heortling name so I think he/she is more probably from the Praxian Sun Dome, or maybe from Goldedge.
  12. Will the adventures follow the trail left by CoC and the first one be apt for 1 player and 1 GM like Paper Chase?
  13. Haha, I've told my players like a hundred times about rune and passion inspirations and they have been used very little. Once one player used an inspiration successfully, and everyone was thrilled; the next time everyone used it and ALL FAILED. They have never used inspirations again. In reality it's a pretty safe bet, but all tabletop rpg gamers know how dice work, and any malus to skills is absolutely terrifying, especially when in RQG a failed roll can cost you your life, so I understand their fear.
  14. Who do you think are the man and the woman that are standing blackside, seemingly looking at a portal, just right of the Ritual of the Net? Also, it looks like Sedenya is on the Ritual of the Net too (right at the bottom), yet she doesn't look like she's actually holding any string unlike the other gods... The art direction is on par with the art, absolutely magnificent.
  15. Curiously one of the pregens is called Yanioth Vareena's Daughter, yet doesn't look at all like her... I'm intrigued.
  16. That's a huge bummer for me, I hoped a PDF release much earlier, thanks for the info as I will be able to plan my games better now. Announcing the "proximity" of certain releases can be a double edged weapon, I understand they want to avoid public deadlines, but vaguely announcing can become a torture for fans, I've been anxiously waiting for the release since the Starter Set News post 😞. Not that they should care or anything, just wanted to share my feelings.
  17. The Durulz have some lands reserved to them, but there are also some Durulz settlements outside those lands, right? . What I meant is if a handful of Durulz families lived in a village on Locaem territory, would they be considered Locaem? What about a single family in a mainly human village? This is threading very thin I know just wanted to hear opinions on the matter. The main point was that I feared making him too detached from sartarite society but had completely forgotten that Humakti sever their links with their clans and are voluntarily detached from society, thak you and @Ladygolem for the reminder.
  18. One of my player's PC is a durulz whose village was sacked because of the duck hunt when he was around 10 and he was saved by the humakti of Indrolar's Necklace, among whom he grew up. Given that he essentially grew up on the temple, when he would have come of age, would he have been initiated as a Lismelder? Of some particular clan? I think the temple is in Goodsword lands so I think if that's the case then it would be the most fitting clan to be initiated. Do Durulz even initiate by common heortling law? If a durulz community lives in Locaem lands, are they Locaem, or do they have their particular initiations that identify them with the Durulz tribe and one of their clans?
  19. Well becoming vampire grants you immortality too, though you are not really alive anymore. Sorcery and alchemy can make you immortal, but it would most probably need periodic rituals or taking an immortality potion every certain time for them to maintain the effects. I wouldn't say you loose the Death rune, it not only means the mortality of the subject. Hell Humakt is immortal and he owns the Death rune so.
  20. Thanks! I thought of Ligtfore as it would be the one major Sky deity not present, and I didn't know of the existence of Gorgorma, my first thought was that it was a vilified depiction of Ernalda. And yeah, I recognize those, how could I forget Glorantha's most successful music trio?
  21. Any idea who might be the dude with a sun for a head and the purple woman with green hair (both on the Solar Court picture)?
  22. No one has posted Yelmalio yet! It's my favorite as you would have probably guessed. It's not just that it's a beautiful drawing (like all are) , but also it's the first picture of Yelmalio that totally fits with Orlanthi culture, all the previous were too Pelorian-looking. I'm so looking forward to reading his writeup. Yelmalio by Loïc Muzy Also Aram Ya-Udram is a curious choice to make a cult of. We know that the Tusk Riders' cult of the Bloody Fang is derived from it, but it's not exactly the same. Is his "original" cult still practiced somewhere? Or is his writeup just in case someone wants to play before the birth of the Tusk Riders? If it's the latter it has important implications, which others ancient cults would we find on the book?
  23. Cruel revenge coated in irony, clearly the mark of Trickster.
  24. Just had a class about the medieval islamic world and the picture the teacher used to show 8th century Baghdad reminded me instantly the Glamour depicted in this book. Wondrous cities both, and cheers to the artists that made the representations. Culturally there are resemblances too, as both are very exclussive cities, home to the emperor and his palace and top religious sites for their respective religions. Baghdad no loger looks like this at all, nor has that religious importance, in case you were wondering.
  25. Rune affinities are like if Galen's theory of humors was actually correct. The sorcerers understand that everything that exists, material or not, is formed by runes, and that runes influence what things are. A rock is made of Stasis and Earth, the same as a man is made of, well, Man, and a lot of other runes in lesser amount, Air for breathing and speaking, Moon for his mind, Water for his blood, etc. And if one of those elements are present in a greater amount than the average, it influences the "nature" (ie behavior) of the person; a woman with a lot of Sky rune "rating" will be pure and stern, as that's what the Sky is, if she has a prevalence of Illusion, she'll most likely be a liar and a trickster. The relationship of the sorcerers with this would probably be to understand which runes are more present in one's body and use them to their benefit, they would not try to suppress the runes but embrace them and use them, especially lankhorings, maybe some weird malkioni sect does suppress them, but it's too far from Dragon Pass to bother us. Ofc Stasis will be much preferred but if you are a sorcerer chances are you have a high Stasis anyway, Truth may be favored by lankhorings too but not necessarily by other orders. And Law too but that rune does not really appear in RQG so there's no need to think about it. This is all a theory ofc, Jeff even posted some weeks ago about Godlearner texts that spoke about bacteria and I'm sure some of them even thought about something similar to atoms and molecules but I think those theories have probably been swept from Glorantha after their empire's destruction.
