  1. Lords of Tarsa also uses the Magic system and has additional spells for it. Classic Fantasy is a goldmine of extra spells, worth buying just for that reason alone. Grimoire seems to have drifted away....shame, I helped proof read and there was loads of cool stuff in it.
  2. Can I put in my vote for keeping hit locations as well ? I've always liked that aspect of BRP/RQ Put them both in and let people choose what they want. I must say I'm really looking forward to this.
  3. Sounds like a good idea to me, also having a seperate " monster manual " would add to the old school flavour....The MM was the first gaming supplement I ever bought.
  4. good, excellent, I'm glad we cleared that up then I must say I really can't fathom Chaosium out on this one. Maybe they don't want competition for magic world, but I would have bought both and I suspect lots of other people would to. So instead of making money from Classic Fantasy they're......going to let somebody else make money from it.
  5. I know I've probably missed this somewhere but if it's not gonna be BRP what is it going to be ? OpenQuest ? Legend ?
  6. I've got them and really rather like them. Haven't converted anything over but have used lots of ideas......oddly given the last post I think the psionics stuff might be the easiest to convert. There are conversion notes in all of them ( I bought the print version with all the supplements included )
  7. Thank you ! I bought Swords just before christmas and have been happily reading through it since then, so this is rather nice.
  8. Byron ( witchcraft, necromancy ), Gheedon ( val de loup ) Sarah ( chronicles of future earth ) at all recently they've all been very quiet.
  9. Sad news. I knew he had been ill for some time but not that it was this serious. On a different note drop by more often.
  10. Savage worlds I can't comment on as I've not used it, compared to HERO BRP is nowhere near as complex ( imo ) you can make it complex by adding stuff into it, but at heart the mechanics are pretty simple, You can model fairly complex activities and ideas but the rules are not as complex in a fiddly lots of stuff to remember sort of a way. I would say yes, but then any halfway decent system will, it's more down to the gamesmaster and players to achieve this. Check out some of the settings both official and monograph to get an idea of what it's capable of. I don't own the hardback so I'll let someone else handle this one Well, BRP in it's current form has been around for about 4 years. Product has been pretty slow from Chaosium ( but that's chaosium for you generally speaking ) 3rd party stuff has been interesting, Alephtar Games have produced some stonkingly good historical supplements eg: Rome, Merrie England, Crusaders of the Amber coast and a BRP mecha supplement is in the works. Cubicle 7 have produced a modern Cthulhu style game which uses the BRP engine. We do have a great community here ( well, I think so ), friendly, helpful, full of ideas. Enriched a great deal by the fact that a lot of BRP authors/designers/publishers post here regularly. You're welcome.
  11. Where is Dustin at the moment ? I must say he was always the one I contacted if I wanted to find stuff out....
  12. I placed an order on 25/11/12 which turned up about 14/12/12
  13. Well, I'll be visiting family for a few days from tomorrow, so merry christmas one and all. Enjoy yourselves !
  14. Spanish conquest of the Americas, clash of cultures, brooding forests and jungles , searing deserts, strange indian tribes, cities of gold in the wilderness, blood thirsty rituals in ziggurats.... You could play it completely straight as a historical setting, go for a weird west approach ala Aces High or throw in some cthulhu weirdness. Of course in an ideal world you'd do all of the above....
  15. Professional stuff in the main including magazine articles
  16. I'm curious is anybody aware of any foreign language BRP supplements that don't appear in english. For example, Rosen posted a link to this ancient Egyptian supplement many moons ago: Basic Egitto (Soft Cover) | RPG Item Version | BoardGameGeek Are there any others out there ?
  17. I've always felt The Green would be worthy of an official release...but then I'm a bit of a fanboy. Lets hope Drums along the Frogtoe gets published. I'm a bit hazy on the whole Chaosium licensing policy, could you do a POD via Lulu or something similiar ?
  18. I must admit I've always liked detailed hit locations. Like Puck I came from a Runequest background as well.
  19. Sounds like fun, you've mentioned what kind of monsters you don't have......but what kind of minsters do you have ( unless your players are likely to be reading this )
  20. Ah...that's a shame, I was hoping you'd dreamt up a few more..... On the other hand you could do us a nice follow up article for a future edition of uncounted worlds
  21. I always liked the Runic sorcery from The Bronze Grimoire, so it's nice to know its being revived. Is it just the Runes that were in TBG or have you come up with some new ones and expanded the whole idea ?
  22. Based on Dagon. I rather enjoyed it
  23. I'm just curious, didn't the players have copies of their character sheets ?
  24. All of them ? Mmmm....let me think about it.
