  1. Bugger, missed it. Now I'll never get that Dragonewt book.....
  2. Has anybody got a copy of Sandy Petersons Shamanry rules they can send me. Suffered total hard drive failure a while back and hadn't backed up in a while ( mea culpa ....) Unable to find them anywhere on the net, so many great old RQ sites have gone :-( Thanks in advance if anybody can, I'll post over in the BRP section as well. Ta, Agentorange

  4. So....what happened ? It was released amidst much fanfare, got favourable reviews. Sarah posted here hinting at a plethora of follow up supplements ( indeed she said some were actually being worked on. ) Then ....silence, a long a stubborn silence, Sarah disappears and now out of the blue it's being re released for Runequest via the design mechanism. Anybody got the inside scoop ?
  5. This brings back a few memories.... I went to see them on this tour, nearly 30 years ago. Makes me feel rather old.
  6. Hurrah, I've been looking forward to this one for a long time....Now all we need is Interplanetary from Jason
  7. You're referring to the Magic book as opposed to Magic World ? That is, the one with Spirit Magic, Divine magic etc etc in ? Also which version, the one that uses hit locations or the one that doesn't ?
  8. Well, I've seen the Maximilian war referred to as a revolution with the Juaristas called revolutionaries. Also there were various uprisings either side of the 1910-20 one. Obviously that's the big one though.
  9. Which Mexican revolution ? There's been several.... EDIT: I'm assuming you're talking about the 1910 one Villa, Zapata etc etc
  10. Sounds good...any ETA for the dead tree version ?
  11. orcs nest: http://www.orcsnest.com/index.asp Have some, but that's probably only useful if you live near London...
  12. Not to be confused with these shrews: Which are completely harmless
  13. I must admit if I was off exploring in space...I would have an armed ship. You can never be sure what you'll run into. I've never bought into the whole " they're so much more advanced than us they must be peaceful " philosophy. You can just imagine some Australian aborigines standing on the shoreline a couple of hundred years ago...... " Those white fellas over there, d'you reckon they're hostile ? " " Nah, anybody whose got the technology to build canoes that big must be peaceful.....I wonder what those wood and metal sticks they're waving around are ? "
  14. I'd probably agree with all of that , except the bit about plate evolving from mail. If you look at the ancient greeks plate was what they wore. Granted somewhat different plate to medieval plate, but nonetheless it's plate. In all fairness I don't know huge amounts about their armour , but I don't recall seeing Greeks in mail. Scale I think , but not mail. I've always been curious why plate was widespread in that period and then faded from view only to re-emerge approx 1000 years later......
  15. Good luck with it all, let us know how it's going.
  16. Would it be that much hard work to fit it into the bestiary ? I do think it'd be worth doing. Consider: at the moment BRP doesn't have a bestiary, now it's highly unlikely that having published this one that Chaosium are going to do another with with hit locations, strike ranks etc etc just for BRP vanilla. Which means that by default this is pretty much going to be the BRP bestiary. Now consider the idea of hit locations, they are very popular. I think all the Alephtar Games supplements use them. All three Chaosium BRP settings (Trollslayer, Chronicles of Future Earth, Mythic Iceland ) use them. All of the monograph's I own use them. They may be an option but for all practical intents and purposes they are the default setting for BRP supplements. So if this is going to be the only BRP bestiary then it'd be a real wasted opportunity not to put them in. Not only would it appeal to those who use Magic World ( and lets be honest here it does sound like the supplements are going to be pretty damn good ) but It'd reach to a wider BRP audience as well.
  17. A plea..... I know MW doesn't use hit locations, but please consider doing an appendice for the Bestiary BRP doesn't have a bestiary and this could fill a big role for both MW and BRP straight pretty please
  18. Open to debate I'd say Seriously though are you going to write your own scenarios ? In which case Nick's suggestions are good: both keepers books and the Malleus gives you loads of source material. If on t'other hand you want campaigns/ scenarios, then gaslight ( 1890's ish ) classic ( 1920's ) modern ? I don't play CoC very often ( though I've got loads of the books ) but I tend to play in Britain in the 1880's and 90's ( gaslight era ) when I do. So certain books will automatically be more useful than others immediately on that basis. In the words of the quiz show: Give us a clue...
  19. Write your own and submit it to Chaosium or Alephtar games ?
  20. That's fair enough, you'd only need hit locations for odd creatures. For others you'd just need something like " for players using hit locations simply use the horse template on BRP page ( insert page number here ) ". I think It'd certainly be much appreciated by folks and it'd open up the market a bit more for the product.
  21. I know that MW doesn't use hit locations, but as regards the bestiary can I put a plea in that you include it as an option for that supplement ? Simply because a lot of people regardless of whether they play MW are going to want a BRP bestiary of new monsters
  22. The other thing to think about is that POT doesn't of necessity have to equal damage, Using my example of the common cold you might have a fantasy version that goes: The Big Chill POT 25/1D3 A highly infectious yet relatively harmless virus endemic to Oerth. Virtually everybody exposed to it will contract it, yet the symptoms are mild. For each day infected roll damage POTency against CON on the resistance table, if the virus wins all physical skills are considered hard for that day. If the virus loses subtract POT times 3 from all physical skills for that day. In any event all other skills are at minus POT times 3 for the day.
  23. mmmm......tough one. In my game diseases and such like have two POT expressed 10/11 ( for example ) the first is POT for catching disease the second for the effect. Use the common cold as an example. It's highly infectious so would have a high POT for catching it. yet in most cases it's fairly harmless so would have low POT for damage. Maybe the chances of catching the vampiric rot are low, but once you've it caught your fate is pretty much sealed ? so you might express it as: Vampiric Rot: POT 5/20 where POT is rolled against CON on the resistance table
