  1. What I'd definately like to see would support for the various options in the BGB, or at least the most popular options namely Strike Ranks ( hereafter SR's ) and hit locations. If you look at the supplements for BRP out so far ( both official and Monographs ) the vast majority of them have both these options, sugesting they appeal tp both writers and players. That being the case I'd want to see those options in Magic World.
  2. Cool stuff, Really enjoyed reading the venturers guide....you know you're going to have to stat up a whole range of Turtle based critters now ?
  3. How do you lose an author ? I mean , do you take him ( or her ) to a bar and just forget to pick them up on the way out......
  4. Re China Mieville, I'm sure there is a New Crobuzon based game in the works and it's using BRP. There was an announcement about it a while back
  5. Mmmmm.....I like the sound of more stuff for The Green, but download only doesn't sound so good. How can you have a supplement for a massive forest/jungle setting not available in a dead tree version ?
  6. Following my question to Triskele I dug out the list of monographs/supplements I knew about and have added ( as best I know it ) their current status. If the author of any of these is still around how about an update ? Operation Ulysses PUBLISHED Mythic Iceland PUBLISHED Grimoire ( actually I know about this one ) SUBMITTED Necromancy STATUS UNKNOWN The Covenant of Justice STATUS UNKNOWN BRP Mecha WORK UNDERWAY Interplanetary WORK UNDERWAY The Merchants Scale WORK UNDERWAY The God Machine STATUS UNKNOWN Desolations Edge STATUS UNKOWN Arrgh Pirates ! SUBMITTED Brave New World STATUS UNKNOWN
  7. Will chainmail bikinis be involved ? EDIT: I should make clear I'm referring to option 3 here. The use of chainmail bikinis for the other options would be......disturbing
  8. One of the mongraphs that was outlined a while back. Can't remember the name of it but it was going to be set on the American frontier circa 17th C, so 13 colonies era. There is a CoC Colonial terrors supplement, is that what it turned into ? Is the the author still here, can they enlighten us ?
  9. Triskele, I know this is completely off topic.....but whatever happened to The Merchants Scale ? I was rather looking forward to it.... Back on topic, I'd agree with the other suggestions, either a POW or INT roll or maybe a trait roll if you use them .
  10. And furthermore every time I go to the Chaosium site I get the following warning screen: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website. Since Chaosiums last security cock up cost me £1,000 on my credit card ( luckily refunded ) coupled to the shipping costs I very much doubt I'll be buying from them, which is a great shame as there's loads of monographs I'd like.
  11. I seem to remember that Rubble and Ruin: Basic Roleplaying Central - RUBBLE & RUIN - A World Gone Mad with Killing Had penetration rules for firearms as well
  12. Trif, I'm still getting the error message: Agentorange, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: 1.Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? 2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. When I try to look at the main site, I'm ok to get to the forum but no joy on the main site.
  13. Well, I'm assuming that most folks got the same message from Chaosium as I did from their regular news feed ie: "CONSTRUCTION NEWS Well, this certainly has taken longer than expected! We thought electrons moved faster than this. The Chaosium website has moved to a new server; a process proving more troublesome than expected. The little green men gnashed their teeth when moving our old website, muttering about broken databases. They stomped their feet when upgrading our shopping cart software. They flailed their hands in the air when making the final move, redirecting name servers and MX records, IP addresses, mail processes, and server and firewall ports. We just shake our heads and sigh. Anyway, the move to the new server is finished, but not all of the changes we will make are completed. We are still working out kinks and would appreciate you letting us know what is not working. Here are a couple of differences you will notice in the new software: Chaos Points: we have enabled a system whereby you can earn Chaos Points, good for discounts on future orders. You can earn Chaos Points for posting reviews, tweeting about Chaosium titles, "Like"-ing us on Facebook, placing orders, and referring friends. Chaos Points are tracked in your account, and you can choose to apply them to your order. There are certain limits that are explained here. Visual Verification: as part of the upgrade, we enabled a simple code you must enter when engaging in some website functions. Take our links section, for example. Without visual verification we had an overwhelming 24,000+ link requests, most from sites of dubious provenance (and made by robot programs). Entering that simple code foils such robots. We were able to have all 24,000+ requests flushed. It was more than we could do to troll through those many thousands looking for valid requests. So, if you submitted a link request to Chaosium in the last year or so, you should re-submit it. If we think it is appropriate for our audience we will add it our our growing collection of links. " I'm guessing this might have something to do with it.
  14. So.....Jason, Once you've got Interplanetery published what additional supplements to the core Interplanetery book have you got lined up ?
  15. Hardcopy for me. Really glad to see this as I thought Aces High was excellent.
  16. Ah right, Now I'm with you. Speaking of ERB what's the deal copyright wise ? looking on Amazon all the world and his wife seem to be publishing their versions/editions of the early Carter novels so I can only assume that they've come into the public domain and are thus fair prey for anybody to use ? Not that I'm suggesting you do so, I'm just curious as to the whole set up. Interplanetary sounds like a great product in it's own right. Once you've grasped the idea of it the fact that it's not tied to a particular franchise allows the user to do pretty much what they like, there's no right or wrong answer just what feels correct for the milieu.
  17. Sorry Jason, I suspect it was me being unclear. What I meant to say was that as the supplement isn't tied to any particular franchise or previously published setting eg Barsoom, Vashu ( Moorcock ) etc etc how will you handle a bestiary ? Example say interplanetary and people are going to think of green 4 armed martians. Now obviously you couldn't use a copyrighted name but could you get away with calling them Green, Four armed martians ( if that makes sense )
  18. You mean you allowed Real Life (tm ) to get in the way of our gaming gratification ? I'm shocked. Since you asked for questions....... I can remember you saying that you were working on a vastly expanded set of Mutation Powers which you hoped would become the default 'toolkit' for SF powers etc etc, hows that going ? As the supplement isn't tied to any particular setting will there be a bestiary, and if so how that going to work ? Obviously there will be ancient artifacts, will there be guidelines on how to construct your own ? or will you present some ready finished ones as examples ? EDIT: yes there will be, just went back and looked at your description in the original thread Doh ! Can you tell us more about that then ?
  19. 42 Oh, you mean the supplement ? The thread here: http://basicroleplaying.com/basic-roleplaying/brp-interplanetary-275/ Will tell you all about it.
  20. Any news on this at all ? It was one of the earliest BRP supplements to be mentioned and yet...... Everytime Jason talks about it I want to buy it ! So any news ? I've even got myself in the mood, I'm stuck at home for a couple of weeks following surgery and have ordered some Edgar Rice Boroughs, Michael Moorcock, Otis Kline etc for that whole interplanetary fix, now I just need the game...
  21. Well, I've just ordered my copy so I should have it in my grubby hands in a few days
  22. Did Mongoose not have a Blood Magic D20 book ? I womder if they've adapted some of the ideas from that.....
  23. That's one tough frog ! ( well, frog like creature ) Imagine if a frog cultist had one as their familiar....I don't see why you can't have something that tough in the game, after all they'd be pretty uncommon I'd imagine. Actually a frog cultist trying to gain one as a familiar would make a nice adventure hook.
  24. sounds formidable..what are the species stats ? STR, CON etc ps did you get my PM ?
