  1. I raised the question about the MD vs Chaosium thing over on the G+ Glorantha group. This is what Jeff Richard said in reply: So it seems that this is to try to avoid the bad feeling that was created by Chaosium's last Kickstarter, the Call of Cthulhu 7th edition. Of course that was a totally different, "old" Chaosium, that screwed up that last KS, and it's a very different operation that is successfully now delivering and repairing Chaosium's reputation. So it's understandable if they try and emphasise the MD bit.
  2. I just managed to get myself a used copy of Shadows on the Borderland (RQIII AH supplement) from eBay, which is great. However, I wonder if I'm missing something going by the contents page, so I just wanted to check. First off, the contents lists two pullout maps, Dyskund Caverns and High Holes Cave. I only seem to have the latter, so I'm going to ask the eBay seller to check they haven't got it laying around somewhere. Second, the contents page also says that both in the inside back cover and inside front cover have maps, of the Black Rock Village/Environs and Black Rock Village. Both of my inside covers are completely blank, so I can't see how something has got lost here. Was this an error in the original printing? I presume that everyone else's is the same? Were these maps every published anywhere else? Many thanks in advance.
  3. I can see the point about translating place names to help build the atmosphere, that's a good point.
  4. I don't think I put my point over very well. What I meant is that these place names were translated a lot time ago, and we've just carried on using those translations. As new places in the world come into prominence, for whatever reason, I don't believe that we translate them any more, unless again it's a transliteration issue with resulting ambiguity. Of course it's not just the English that do it, in France they refer to Londres, etc.
  5. Good point. But that's a historical thing, as is the practice of translation of place names. I don't think we do that any more, do we? Although sometimes transliteration from other alphabets mean that there are alternative versions of the same name, i.e. different transliterations. I don't think we translate names in the modern age, do we?
  6. I've never understood why anyone would translate place names in the real world - we don't translate people's names, do we? And that applies to fantasy worlds for me too.
  7. The Patreon campaign has reached its first milestone goal of $500 per month, woo-hoo!

    Dragonewts?

Rick has confirmed the reprinting of the GtG for early 2016. See the sticky post on upcoming publications.
  9. Unless additional resources are recruited specifically to reprint old titles, then any such work absolutely will detract from Chaosium's ability to put out new titles. I imagine that Rick only has so many hours in the day for layout work. Reprints are certainly cool. But we have to be realistic about them.
  10. Free PDF updates for existing Gloranthan Classics PDF owners as the new versions come out? Or updates for a nominal fee? Please?
  11. Thanks for the reprint confirmation, Rick (especially for GtG), I've added a new category for upcoming reprints to the original post.
  12. Thanks for educating me, guys, much appreciated.
  13. Latest update, the end of the current chapter and a tease about future stuff ... http://www.princeofsartar.com/comic/end-of-chapter-4/
  14. Isn't that Dragonrise about 10 stars though, not 11? Also, I didn't think that the Red Cow stuff would be far enough forward in the timeline to cover the Dragonrise. But I may well be missing something.
  15. I might have missed something, but assuming you're talking about the Red Cow books, where is it that you've seen something that says that they will contain the Dragonrise?
  16. I can't help but be very excited about this tease:
  17. There's a very big difference between representing Christianity in a pseudo-historical "real-world" RPG setting where Christianity was present, and doing the same in a Bronze Age fantasy world, surely?
  18. Another way to do the filtering is instead of letting it show you "All Content", change that to "Topics", and then (using the gear wheel icon) you can choose which topics you want to hear about. This is another way to do it without having to do "Follow".

    Big Rubble

Good to hear, thanks Rick! I guess it's a nice problem to have - having so many cool projects that prioritising them is difficult.
  20. New episode is up, Making Enemies.

    Big Rubble

Ah, sorry, I see what you mean. Yes, we seem to have heard more about the Prax book recently, and nothing about The Big Rubble.
