  1. Since this is pretty big news, and was originally posted in the middle of a thread discussing the latest RuneQuest design note, I thought it was worthy of a repost over here. Rick Meints said: ... and ... Great news, eh?
  2. @Christoph Kohring - thanks @Ian Cooper - just checking, are you happy for me to make all of Christoph's suggested rules-based amendments (i.e. the stats) official? I'm asking especially because he's made a choice in a few cases, e.g. whether Koschei the Weary should have 17 in either Air or Death. Thanks.
  3. Steve

    Cardinal points

I don't think it's as simple as that. Even Greg says, in the intro to Revealed Mythologies (my emphasis): I'm pretty sure that Jeff has said similar things in the past. Some parts of the Stafford Library are more canon than others.
  4. Have I got this wrong, or has she still spent too many points? She starts off with Heortling (Red Cow) 13, Red Cow Clan 13, Healer 17, Harmony 1W, Earth 17, Life 13, Fearless 17. She has 12 points to spend. Increasing Heortling (Red Cow) to 1W takes 8 points and Healer to 2W takes 5 points. So that's 13 points spent, so she's spent 1 too many? Also, what about Koschei the Weary having 13 in both Air and Death? One of these should be at 17.
  5. Thanks for the answers, Ian, and the extra points, Christoph. I'll update the original post when I get a chance.
  6. The start of the article is at http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/tabletop/columns/days-of-high-adventure/6709-Greg-Stafford-Mythmaker
  7. The Gods War Kickstarter has been pushed back slightly. From Sandy via Facebook:
  8. Thanks for these. But for Maklami, you mean she should have 17 in either Earth or Life, right? Assuming she's spent all 12 points on raising Harmony to 13W (the text doesn't say, unless I've missed it). I've added these in.
  9. As mentioned in the original thread on this started by @Mark Mohrfield, my intention for this new thread is to maintain a list of rules-specific errata for The Coming Storm in a form that's easy to navigate. This is for rules-related things only, e.g. errors in stats, wording that is incorrect for something that relates to the rules and/or gameplay (not just background). It's not a thread to report simple typos, grammatical issues and alternative ways to write the same thing. I'm going to collate the rules issues from the other thread, and from any additional replies to this thread, and keep a list in the original posting of this thread (which I'll endeavour to keep updated as any other replies appear), as per the below. Please do say if you think that I've got any of this wrong: Official rules-specific errata for The Coming Storm from @Ian Cooper: p.17 - Olend Many-Moods distinguishing characteristic of Vengeful should be 19 (17+2), not 15. [originally raised by @Mark Mohrfield] Iron Arrows and Iron Hunting Knife should both be +1, not +2. Flee Jealous Husband should be +1, not +2. His Flaw The Emerald Sword Killed my father should be 8W, not 7W. p.18 - Londrol Spear-Rattler's Rattle Born distinguishing characteristic should be 1W (not 1) and his Movement rune rating should be 17 (not 13W) [originally raised by@Mark Mohrfield] His Flaw Rattle Born should be 5W not 1W. p.19 - Maklami Friend of Heroes should have Earth at 17 and Harmony at 1W. (Hasn't she still spent 1 too many points?) [originally raised by@Mark Mohrfield, @Christoph Kohring, @Steve] Her Heortling keyword should be rated 20, not 1W. p.19 - Rastaluf the Tall should have Honorable (Distinguishing Characteristic) at 18, and his Truth rune should be 17 and not 13. His Trusting Flaw should be 8W, not 7W. p.20 - Koschei the Weary's distinguishing characteristic of Hard Bitten should be 19, not 15. He should have 17 in Death, not 13). [originally raised by@Mark Mohrfield]. His Heortling culture should be 15, not 13, with Red Cow Clan at 13. His Alynx companion should have Nine-Lives at +4, not 17, and Grumpy at 13. p. 95/96: "Kulbrast Offirson". As a non-illuminated initiate of Orlanth, Kulbrast cannot have the Stasis Rune. It should be the Harmony rune. p.101 - The stat block for Rostakus Twice-Outlawed is incorrectly headed 'Kallesra Sees-Tomorrow'. [originally raised by@jajagappa] p.102 - The stat block for Korlmhyor the Swift has the same incorrect heading of 'Kallesra Sees-Tomorrow'. [originally raised by@jajagappa] Other rules-specific queries answered by @Ian Cooper: p.35 - Farandar Orendalsson does not have his subcult identifier (Barntar) in his stat block. [@kaydet]. Answer - Farandar holds the Barntar position on the ring, but does not worship Barntar. Many of the farmers are unhappy about this. Just because someone holds a position on the ring identified with a god, does not mean they have to worship that god, although the clan's magic is stronger if they do. p.35 - Borngold Many-Brothers does not have his subcult identifier (Voriof) in his stat block. [@kaydet]. Answer - Borngold worships Heler but is not a member of a Voriof sub-cult. Note that no Voriof sub-cult is listed on p.203 of SC. Although he appears in Storm Tribe, he is best thought of as the boy's god as Voria is the girl's god.
  10. ok, since this thread has veered off into all sorts of directions, including unnecessary suggestions on alternative phrasing, I'm going to start a new thread for rules errata for The Coming Storm. In it, I will attempt to keep the initial thread up to date with the complete list of rules-specific errata (so things like stats that are wrong, or wording that is important rules-wise) for the book, to make it easy to quickly find what we know is wrong.
  11. Loving the duck with the big sword! Also, Kalin says "With this page we’re going to take a break from the comic until about the end of August. The reason for this is that Jeff has some more pressing projects for me to work on, so those are going to have to take priority for a while. But don’t worry, the comic will be back!" http://www.princeofsartar.com/comic/82-down-the-river/
  12. Jeff has told us previously that it is very myth-centric. So that doesn't sound like either of those to me.
  13. Just in case anyone is confused, this thread was moved here from the RuneQuest forum, where it split off from a thread about half-elves.
  14. What software are you using to view the PDF, Jeorg? I'm using PDF-XChange Editor on Windows and I'm not having a problem with scrolling speed. Seems to be fine with Acrobat Reader DC too. Anyone else having a problem?
  15. Can I suggest that it would be helpful if this thread was split into two, keeping rules-/stat-based errata in one thread, and typos in a different thread? And with all due respect, is there really any benefit in suggesting edits where the existing text isn't wrong, just that it could be written in a slightly different way to say the same thing?
  16. There's a lot of new background/scenarios/campaigns coming, according to the original post in this thread - e.g. The Coming Storm, The Eleven Lights, the Glorantha sourcebook (moving the timescale on to 1625), updated Trollpack (not just a reprint), Nochet guidebook, Casino Town/Holy Country book, Riders of the Storm, plus various other things too.
  17. Make sure you don't miss out on any episodes though, I've sometimes forgotten to do the updates. If you've only read it here then you've definitely missed some stuff from the past.

  19. My purpose in posting the latest pages (when I remember to do so, which isn't always) is to remind people that it's being updated pretty regularly, and to also help to advertise it to newcomers to the forum (who may not be aware of its existence). I'm not bothered either way if people do or don't respond to my posts.
  20. Check out Arachne Solara from the upcoming The Gods' War boardgame! Kickstarter is scheduled for July 25. http://petersengames.com/the-gods-wars-kickstarter-sign-up/

  23. I'm pretty sure that Jeff hasn't said anywhere that the gaming community *should* call it RQ4. He's merely said how they're referring to the game internally within Chaosium, and explained the reasons for that. I agree that an unambiguous name is required for forum discussions etc, to avoid confusion, but I don't think we need Chaosium to define this for us. I'm pretty sure we'll all end up callimg it RQ2016 (or just RQ16?), because it's clear and everything else suggested so far has been argued over . But maybe it'll be something else that hasn't been suggested yet. It doesn't really matter. Time will tell.
  24. As others have already suggested, I'm pretty sure that anyone wanting a totally unambigious quick reference name for the new RuneQuest will call it RQ2016.
