1. I suspect what @Godlearnerwas thinking is that as "civilisation" expands, the local nature spirits are forced out, and the new inhabitants bring in or start worshipping their city gods.
2. Such information will cost you, and take time while our expert sages find the appropriate resources. Please see the pricing guide to your right. What? You can't read it?? Well, for a couple of Lunars, I'll gladly read out loud those contents for you.
3. But what if you're so focussed on training one particular thing, such that you're ignoring everything else (that would be ticked)? So, instead of 4 occupation experience ticks, and one training roll, you remove the 4 occupation ticks and apply... How many to the one trained skill? The LM initiate stuck in the Nochet library is a fairly good example. Sat down at their desk, day after day, going over scroll after scroll after scroll about ... One single topic only. (and those scrolls all get dumped in a huge pile on the desk, so no Library Use ticks!) Perhaps give some for Read (no Write :p). (Note - Whining and Complaining are not RQ skills)
4. Does Illumination have any impact on traversing Hell (of any version)?
5. I don't understand why.... The base chance to increase is 15% (100-current (85)), PLUS the category modifier (which I'd expect to be around 15% as well, giving about 30% to go up).
"To make an experience roll, a player rolls D100 for each ability check and then adds the appropriate skills category modifier for that ability to the roll"
p415. I know this is for the current version, but I thought it was also in the earlier ones as well.
6. 😋 So, you're suggesting that 1/4 of weaponthanes are at RL level??? Yeah, I disagree. I see only about 2-3 of them having achieved - and survived for long - that level. Most are relatively young , with a couple of older (perhaps wiser) members, with a couple of them being the RL leaders. Were his stats at max?
7. If there's Detect Gold, Silver, Tin, Copper, Iron, etc, it makes sense to have specialised plant spells as well as the specialised minerals...
8. I was thinking the other way with your numbers... Less than 1 RL per 200... Maybe per 500. And I doubt that every temple would even have Its own RL. Perhaps I'm misreading your intent, but if a priest dies, there's usually a few God Talkers ready to take their place. I imagine that for most cults, priesthood is earned, and only limited places available. But temples would probably take as many RLs as they couple get their hands on (as you pointed out - quite difficult to get those skills up... Without dying, or copping a spear in the knee)!)
9. There's a thread all about this... Which I'm sure you participated in... I would make the roll. Not so much convincing the shaman teacher, but the tribe's spirits. So, the apprentice might be ready and capable, but the tribal spirits just think the apprentice isn't quite gel-ing with them yet. Did I not read somewhere that it would apply to the whole thing, and any rolls associated with it? And not just one skill??
10. I disagree with your numbers. Especially Runelords. Although it will vary with the cult and location. Specifically martial cults will have more, and so would areas of constant conflict. Priests should be fairly, but those defenders of the faith takes a very special kind of person rarely seen in the world (although, with the Hero Wars approaching, I can see those numbers increasing). I can imagine people tripping over themselves (literally) in order to even see a Rune Lord up close! Having a Rune Lord come to visit should be seen as a huge deal. (They honour and respect the priest, but are too scared of being called out for doing something wrong to get too close :p)
11. If you go with the psychic impressions from the intent, then it's not likely to find poisonous plants, for example I don't understand what you mean... 😄
12. Don't forget skill points for hometown/region from p105 onwards, particularly for Esrolians.
13. Imagine the Stinking Forest! With some of those, I'd expect CON rolls to be regular, or suffer some sort of penalty (such as reduction in perception skills).
14. I'd be confident that the local LM temple would probably know someone, somewhere... Of course, it wouldn't come cheap, especially if you're paying for the call out as well...
15. Getting back to the OPs question, there's really only 1 spell that needs to be learned - Geomancy 😄 Vastly superior to any other Detect or Find spell on the market... including Detect Market 😛 "What do you want to find? Where do you want to find it? No problem!"
16. Wouldn't Detect Poison be simply detecting something that is specifically poisonous to the caster? In the same way that Detect Enemies would be?
17. Would the bear trap hanging on the wall, unset, and with jaws closed, register on your Detect Traps? Or the already triggered mouse trap (with or without mouse - and/or cheese)?
18. My late couple of clacks thrown into the hat... Firstly, is there reason for the PCs to suspect that the PC in question is tainted with Chaos, rather than some other reason? (Personally, I wouldn't go with the clear "mark of Chaos" idea, because if you do that to the PCs, you should really do that with everything Chaotic, and that would remove the fun and games of a Stormbull's Sense Chaos - you'd just need to carefully check someone over, instead of relying on potentially flawed Senses). I would, however, probably make the STR increase obvious - however, that alone wouldn't mean Chaos. It does mean needing to make a decision as to whether Chaos Features are always obvious or not. Certainly some have already been described as such (eg, +x natural armour). I'd personally rule that the +15 STR is very obviously unnatural - very highly suspiciously so! (And if the rest of the party aren't suspicious, smack their players around the head! - see below) What should be more interesting is that it may be considered a Zorak Zoran gift - which would really make it fun for the Humakti. After all, it's not clearly obvious that Vamargic was Chaotic, but definitely obviously ZZ - and adding STR would make a lot of sense for them. This, as a consequence, would suggest that this new 'gift' is an anti-Chaos fighting feature gifted by the Troll god. If we take these considerations as valid, then the responses will be quite different. Even if they're not seen as valid, the 'knowledge' that there's Chaos is still missing (although, any reason to suspect Chaos should be considered... although, its should also be remembered that Orlanthi will tend to be somewhat paranoid anyway :p). Also, I'd probably remember that Chaos Rune affinity, especially when other passions (such as Honour) get rolled. You could add a Passion (Complete Necklace) - remember that it just needs 1 more eye (human) to complete... Regardless, the suspicious alone should be enough for any smart characters to stay away from most Orlanthi - so, as suggested above, go to various places.
19. So I presume you don't allow Detect Enemies, Detect Life, Detect Trap... Nor the Humakti skill of Sense Assassin. Personally, I've always thought that Truestone couldn't be.magically detected.
20. There could just be a myth that Dryads and satyrs were once each other's natural mates, but then something happened where the states got turned off the satyrs, and so it's remained ever since.
21. All of that overlooks the vital question of - what do cacao tree dryads taste like?
22. I think that's a bit too real-worldy. Gloranthan bronze isn't a 1:1 of earth bronze. However, the general increase in quality would make a fine candidate for real God's bone bronze.
23. Taking @soltakss's fine JC Book of Doom, I strongly agree with him that such healing potions aren't where Alchemists make their income, but from mundane creations - soaps, perfumes, candles, etc. Far more logical in most settings... Especially in big cities where alchemists can likely have a lab (with an exception for Pavis).
