  1. Perhaps allied spirits are difficult**... I figured the enchantment runes are required to keep the spirit in the middle realm, instead of having to go back to (or maybe, only have senses in) the spirit realm (or halls of their respective god). (Edit - I mean "different"... Fkn autocorrect)
  2. I'm interested in the binding itself. According to the rules on binding (and enchantment in general), you have to make permanent markings on the thing, person, animal you want to enchant... So, branding? Tattoos?? I'd like to see who volunteers to hold the shadowcat for that!!!
  3. Pro-tip: Daka Fal and Fleshman is every first human's ancestor. Kyger Litor is every troll's ancestor. Aldrya is every elf's ancestor.
  4. "What the... You went into the Hollow and didn't die??? You're a failure!!!"
  5. Only the ones with Illusory Sight do that.
  6. Apologies! However, that looks like a house rule. That limitation isn't given. And, although obviously a different god, Yelmalian Gifts do specifically state "no limit".
  7. Of course they can! The RQ:G book already lists a number of ways... Spirit magic, sorcery and Rune Magic all have spells that can do it. As said above, shamans get access to Shamanic Abilities that specifically allow for POW to go over regular species Max. And... Chaos 😃 But, species max can't be increased by normal mundane means...
  8. @Rick Meints what's Chaosium's stance on fan-made mods for games, e.g. Elder Scrolls' Oblivion or Skyrim? I.know some IP holders can be hyper-protective (eg Tolkien Estate), and so try to shut down such projects hard - lawyers, threats of being sued, etc... I live in China and have my own consulting company here. I've had this idea of getting an IT (Gaming) intern to do up a Glorantha/RQ mod. Interns in China are often unpaid. Sometimes, they'd get paid about the equiavalent of around $500US/£300 per month... (average salary here is about double that!) They usually intern for a few months (6??).
  9. I'm presuming "hammered thin"' means somewhat thinner than regular - compared to both unenchanted copper and typical bronze. So, if it's regular thickness (or even a little more than), it suggests to me that it should be tougher than the -1 bronze equivalent. @Tindalos yep... Unenchanted copper is the same thickness and hardness as bronze! Enchanted copper has half the weight *and* is (somewhat??) thinner. Thus my argument about thicker enchanted copper.
  10. Because if the last part of the description... Half the ENC for only -1 AP (when "hammered thin") So, if it's thicker it ought to be tougher ie, more protective. (How much is really the question). So, it's not exactly "because the weapons do", it's because that's what normally happens. One piece of paper doesn't stop much. A phonebook is hard to penetrate.
  11. I was directed to the write-up on copper in the adventurers book through a different thread, and I had to ask the obvious question.. "Enchanted copper armor and weapons are especially solid, and such weapons only lose armor points damage in combat when penetrated for over twice their armor point value. For example, over 24 points of damage would be needed before an enchanted copper broadsword would lose any hit points. However, all damage over 12 points would go through to the wielder. Enchanted copper armor can be hammered very thin and still retain some solidity. This reduces the armor’s defensive value by 1 point, but halves its ENC. Thus, a full suit of plate armor would have 5 armor points and weigh 6 ENC. So, what if you don't hammer it really thin, and have it at normal ENC. Surely this makes enchanted copper tougher (better) than Iron??? Like - full plate (a cuirass or greaves/vambraces/helm) would have 10 armour... (instead of Iron's 9).
  12. True... But with sorcery having duration, if the first (second, third, fourth, fifth) attempt at a casting fails, you can still get it to work for a while with no great loss.. unlike Spirit or Rune magic.
  13. Iron Dwarves wear unenchanted iron at least partly because they don't have much magic to cast...
  14. Precisely! Also, if it's a Dwarven enchanted iron axe head, perhaps they'll come looking for it...???
  15. @Bill the barbarian, this is true. I have seen the film and what @Qizilbashwoman wrote above as a spoiler was still new to me! It'll all make sense to Muslims (I got that), but otherwise would go over your head. As per what often happens with foreign films, you usually lack all of the cultural contexts to fully understand and appreciate.
  16. Even if your player does get lucky with it being enchanted, I'd be cautious about which God's magic it was enchanted by! (Which could make for more fun and games! Literally)
  17. Which is yours? I've probably got it... (I think there's only a couple I haven't purchased yet... ) I'll try to get around to reviewing. I'll try not to be too nice
  18. I was not aware of this thread til @Crel mentioned it! My special me is editing & proofreading. I was an examiner for an internationally recognized English test (both writing AND speaking tests), and Head of Academic English for a UK university consortium's Pre-Master's Program here in China. I now teach IELTS and academic English writing. However, I'm fortunate to have lots of free time on my hands, as u freelance with my own language consulting company. Sometimes I'm a rules lawyer, so may check if something is correct or works (RAW).
  19. Thx Crel. I haven't used FB in many years,,and being in China where it's blocked wouldn't make it easy anyway. But, absolutely add me to your list of resources!
  20. Actually, the beards would be the best bet for verification of a letter of credit or deed! Who better than them to be able to tell you who precisely made up the letter, when it was done, and whether it was done under coercion or not?
  21. Would that be the left foot, or the right foot?
  22. I don't know the best place (if there's any such thing for this), but since @pookie has made this reference a few times, I thought I'd put my hand up. In @pookie's reviews, it is often mentioned that the works could do with another edit/once over, and so I'd be quite happy to offer my services! FTR, I was an examiner for the writing test of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), as well as having been the head of Academic English for a major UK university consortium, in their Pre-Masters degree program for Chinese students. (And I've got a Masters in Education (TESOL) and M.App.Ling.) So, if you're not too confident with the English side of things, I'd be more than happy to help!
