  1. However, again, there will be differences based upon the culture. Some porn is blatantly obvious. Other things people would argue about.
  2. I'm not sure how effective the Lightwall would be available archers - unless the phalanx is pretty thin... They're just going to loose to anything in a given range, rather than individual targets. Ok, the front line or three will be safe, but the rest will still get hit. Lightwall for about to hit melee - nasty if you're blinded and can't see that pike about to hit your face!
  3. I was just checking over the wyter segments in both RQ:G and Bestiary. The wyter could be the spirit of a cult hero, so I'd actually disagree with that statement (for Orlanthi in particular). It'd be very appropriate for them. Obviously, not every wyter is going to be. Back to munchkinnery... How about a spell trade with said clan wyter??? "I'll give you my 1 point Pathwatch, and you give me your 35 points of Shield" 馃榿
  4. I question the value of only a couple of points of Bless Woad... If you want to munchkin this spell, or Bless Thunderstone, you'd be better off doing it via the clan Wyter... That way, you get the entire clan to put in the POW, and you'd get some ridiculously high Pots. And, then we can also have the argument about whether the multiple target (5 per point of POW can apply to lots of woad). Hasn't this idea been brought up in this thread before?
  5. I'm not sure the Issaries initiate would want to be running around, naked and blue, for 1pt protection... Or even 2 or 3 points.. However, there's no reason greater deal can't be struck, in which the Bless Woad and some other spell are traded first time,, and a more useful spell the second.
  6. Just off what @Diana Probst wrote above. That spiral of air going up sounds appropriate (reminds me of various cartoons, particularly Tassie Devil). Like a reverse whirlwind - wider base, thinner top.... Reverses at the arrival point.
  7. Issaries has a holy day every week... So, easy to abuse.
  8. Also in need of a once through edit... "What do you get?Rubble Runners - A collection of Pavis Characters is a collection of fifteen NPCs, each of which is accompanied by five or six associates and contacts鈥攖heir supporting cast and five and five or six encounter and plot hooks. l
  9. And then we can have more threads about how we don't like/agree with the rules 馃槢 (FTR, I haven't been able to play with the new system except briefly to introduce a few players to RQ, and they didn't have these big spells. So, I don't know just how game-changing they are... Thus, I'm staying out of that particular argument, and just pointing out other options)
  10. It's an incredibly generous GM that would allow anyone, anytime to pick up any spell someone wanted. Even within a party of adventurers, it's a bit meta-gamey to share your God's personal power around willy-nilly. Especially any 3 point or above spells.
  11. No, it's taking the actual meanings of the words (both individually and in combination), and then applying them to the specific context. The book specifically mentions some examples, but leaves the catch-all of "personal initiative", thus allowing for re-active actions, but not pro-active.
  12. I'd say that choosing to Dispel counts as "take personal initiative". The updated/errataed version is basically this from Bestiary (obviously, as per appropriate weapon, although you can parry with melee weapons): Arrow Trance 1 Point Self, Temporal, Nonstackable This allows the user to merge their consciousness with their bow, doubling their bow skill rating. The user enters a trance in which the only things that exist are bow and targets. The user moves only to get a clear shot or find another target. The user can use no other weapon and cannot parry nor use the bow as a club. Even if engaged in melee, the user will fire an arrow at their opponent. While entranced, the user may cast only bow-related magic (Multimissile, Speedart, etc.) to the exclusion of all other magic, including healing (except that the user can heal their elf bow if it is damaged). If the battle ends before the spell expires, the user will stand at rest and wait for new targets. This is not a Berserker spell; the user knows who their friends and enemies are.
  13. I'm curious as to what you think a Befuddle does then... It'd be a pretty pissed player of I Befuddled an enemy, and the GM said, "Well, they know they've been Befuddled, so they cast Dispel". As for the Sword Trance, the RQ:G lacks the further details that has, apparently, been supplied elsewhere that says the Trance is indeed a trance...
  14. That's not what I meant. I mean, the victim of a Befuddle shouldn't realise they've been Befuddled, so shouldn't have any reason to want to cast a Dispel. Personally, I'm not sure I'd allow even a Protection spell either. Also remember... If Befuddle is on an enTranced warrior, they can't do anything non-sword related anyway.
  15. While I provided a simple solution, a more realistic one would be multiple combatants casting it... Why should those trollkin sling lead, when they can all cast a 2pt spell and stop the Humakti in their tracks? Surely at least one would get through... As for dispelling... The victim wouldn't know something is wrong to dispel it. So, I'd disagree with that... And, it'd make the spell pointless if you could.
  16. Ummm.... You know that 1 slightly above average farmer can take out the death-dealing terror you're so worried about in around 5 SR... even before the Sword Trance (Or Truesword) has kicked in. Befuddle. Got Shield up? Drop some extra MPs into it... (Do the same to the Berserk raging Stormbully and see what happens there... Although I'd not want to be close enough to find out 馃構
  17. Your version is slightly different to mine, due to the last sentence ending... "However, it may be successfully cast against a specific spell if the caster can magically discern or can otherwise guess the specific spell. " If you see lots of Death Runes (and a few Truth), fair chance that Sword Trance is in play, especially given it's a trance...
  18. That's because someone has a Heroic Casting of it, and dropped a lot of MPs 馃槢 (I don't know if you were trying to be punny about this.. )
  19. And that makes me think of AoE spells 馃槂
  20. Because Chalana Arroy likes to keep the Rune Lords going to fight Chaos alive, and giving them access to a Resurrection is safer than sending a priest along...
  21. I always thought those b&w photos of Glorantha annoying... 馃槢
  22. So, he's the underworld's information desk? :p
  23. But... You only temporarily lose those RPs (bar 1 permanently), so that'll situation is unlikely... Unless you somehow need to do multiple DIs (Or are just down to only 1 RP for that god).
