  1. There is certainly something to be said about the Lunar Way: the practices of the basic faith are conducive to life in a civilised society, with the assumption of judges, law, literacy, and cities. The Orlanthi way is "pre-civilised" in the literal sense: it assumes no authority, no state, illiteracy, and rural life, with practices like wereyield (gini), and any kings or queens are glorified warlords. The Praxian herdfolk are even worse. It's hard to run a city like Pavis with a "pre-civilised" collection of faiths, and the Lunar Way had the support of the Empire and its supply lines, settlers, and military outposts.
  2. They were imported by the Waertagi, who also stuck the Theyalans in Pamalt, as a kind of experiment. I don't think they were Theyalans. There's speculation they were Lodrilites. We know the name "Olodo" is Jrusteli for "Old People" and they were assimilated into the Jrustelan population when they weren't annihilated.
  3. Missing certains meds can make you lightheaded, but then you aren't supposed to "replace" the missing med, just wait till the next dose. It's not a big deal. Also, you know who likes to game? Disabled people. People have med side effects all the time. Also, triggered doesn't always mean 100% klaxons. It can just be very upsetting and changing the topic can be sufficient. I mean, I game with women and I am one. "No rape" seems to be a given. Nobody is gonna be raped, rape anyone, or be the product of rape. Rape will not be a threat. Orcs don't rape prisoners, although they might eat them. I hope I don't need to explain why "no rape" is real common table rule. I don't know about the eyeball thing. It don't bother me but nobody is described getting their eyes gouged out. Seems to be a real common thing. I guess I should also say I've never been at a table that didn't "fade to black" sex. Not in a baby way, just nobody wanted to be a creep. So you can have tits out or face a handsome naked mans or a vagina monster but if you are going to spend your coin in town with that looker, we're gonna see you go in a room with them. I don't think that's probably a surprise to anyone.
  4. What do we know about life and gods in Jrustela before the weird Malkioni got there? I have Middle Sea Empires but it's just about the weird Pilgrim-analogues.
  5. to be fair this is kind of out of the scale of the X-Card; that's a larger question that should have been discussed before they got to the table. I would certainly expect to discuss any major intrusive issues I had before the table on the scale of "we're playing fantasy and I have severe arachnophobia". this isn't just a curse of spiders in your nose. but that's why we use these tools, to discuss these issues before a campaign starts because there are so many situations that turn ugly. i mean, we've all heard stories or had them happen to us. knowing where the boundaries are lets us rampage. usually there's not much in the way of boundaries! most of the time there's just like "can we please have no rape for god's sake" and I hear a surprising amount of "no eyeball violence". sometimes someone will get triggered by something by surprise, and flash an x-card. nod, move on. maybe they decide to explain later. once someone did it because they missed some meds and were feeling woozy and so the drunken tavern scene was making them nauseous!
  6. nábrók have spirit-blessed gold coins in the scrote. that's the reason you wear them, they generate wealth. bet they jingle when you walk. man-leggings
  7. have you read how the x-card works again, have you read how this works
  8. there's at least... ten kinds of percentile games here. THERE'S A FOREST OF PERCENTILE. just to be clear i'm seriously kidding I don't even really like RuneQuest, I most put up with it. Mostly my ideal games are like... A Quiet Year and other extremely DMless "edgelord indie" stuff.
  9. but... there are at least several options other than that game right here on this website! and one of them doesn't even use d100!
  10. In my local area, weekly games are extremely often held at Pandemonium Books & Games, which has room for all of Boston to come for Magic events. Since we're a student city, tables are often a little unstable, with people coming and going a little. Most of the work is done when you form the table, of course, but sometimes it's worth keeping the x-card in play just in case. You might not know people very well.
  11. well for one thing you can shamanise without joining a cult in the first place. spirit interaction is individual. ^^^^
  12. but Barntar and Vinga aren't at all the same narrative thing. Vinga is Orlanth's female face and Barntar is Orlanth the Ploughman. Nobody done chopped up Orlanth or whatever. Those are just normal aspects. We know that Lodril's forms were ... how shall we say, adjusted by the God Learners. They played with the blue and yellow playdough and mashed em all up and for some reason when the Snap Back happened, it didn't happen there. I mean, the God Learnerism got snapped. We know their creepy cult doctrines fell away and there was some kind of purgation of incest rites and the like, but whatever would have been Lodril's emanation normally is now firmly all mixed up with presumably the female Earth god.
  13. I'm endlessly interested in how the Ralians and their pantheon differ, especially since they have a full-fledged Ehilm co-bro-ing with Orlanth after being reborn and not just being a thane (Yes I know now there's Only Yelmalio in Kerofinela)
  14. after reading your entire comment, I'm going to just let you cool off right now
  15. I think we aren't clear which god has which rune, but that Caladran men are usually Earth rune and Caladran women are Fire rune, which is the opposite of like, the rest of the gendered societies, from Pamaltela to Bindle. Also, they are not exactly Lodril, but maybe they are still Lodril. We see Lodril emanating Himself repeatedly in different lore: Vi Saru Daran, child of Ka Charal (Primolt), bears himself as Turos, and then again as His many sons, most of which are named Turos, in the E. At one point Vi Saru Daran, called Di Dala Daran dies to the water god Oronin during the Flood and the cone becomes the Oronin. He survived only as Paintman. We also see this in other places in lore with Lodril, I think because volcanoes go dormant and then reawaken, or new ones arrive. It's possible the Greg Learners used a weakened Veskarthan to "make" this new hybridised Chthonic-Sky God pair. Caladra might just be Veskarthan, changed again, but still the same lava.
  16. you're getting real heated about a very common tool used at like most of the cons and private tables I've ever been to's tables because it's a sixty-second way to see what the table's temperature is. It's never been anything more than a useful tool and if ain't what you like, then don't use it, but this is a straw dog before heaven, as they put it in Classical Chinese. triggered is a real word and please don't use it as an insult, for god's sake. these days mental health professionals avoid using "triggered" because y'all have made such a fart stank on that word people recoil from the idea they might get triggered by something, which is an actual process that happens with people with trauma or ptsd or other issues. source: me. I have ptsd, having had been held hostage by Acehnese terrorists.
  17. i mean mind my grammar, my point was those were 90%+ forested, unlike areas in what is now the US.
  18. I just want the stats for the hoon
  19. In Caladraland you can worship a Child of Lodril with either a Fire or Earth rune, unless that's changed in the BaGoG. Some sort of hybridisation timey-wimey stuff went on there, maybe God Learner stuff, not real sure, but the result is a set of twins who replaced Veskarthan after He was enslaved by the Only Old One. Or something.
  20. i guess you didn't read on... Root of Life. A million Best Babies and a Protector to guard them. also the film version of John Carter was FANTASTIC, I can't believe it tanked. I loved it.
  21. there's a lot of tools for this, I recommend checking, even the most desultory googling brought up Lines & Veils and the X-Card https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/tools-of-the-table.html You really never know. I was in Yiddish class and we were doing names and pronouns and I was *le sigh* because I was the trans woman at the table and I felt like, welp, nice to be represented, and the 55yo heavily-bearded frum (pious, orthoprax) individual next to me with a kippah (yarmulke) and a suit hesitated and said (in Yiddish) ... to please use "they" or "she", as they were genderqueer and their daughter called them "Mame" and they got "he'd" all day long so... So you really, really never know.
  22. Weed does a lot of things but it definitely doesn't make you do that. Not even in Florida. (yes I own this role-playing game and yes it's FLORIDA MAN THE RPG)
