  1. We never bothered with detailing spell focuses, in any RQ game I've ever played in.
  2. There is no moment in time called "SR4". SR are not impulses, so saying where someone is "on SR4" is meaningless. You say it's not an impulse system, then talk as if it IS an impulse system. It isn't, it's just a system for who goes first and how much you can get done in a round. Ok, my mistake. That's a house rule that I will probably use though.
  3. You can't just run past people who want to engage you in combat. As soon as you are in melee range, you're engaged. If you then move past someone to get in range of someone else, they get a flanking bonus to attack you. And I have no problem with resolving those attacks each on their normal SR. Although I can also see the justification for allowing the attack earlier, but then I might say that you don't get the flanking bonus that waiting for your normal turn might give. Depends - if you're using a houserule in which SR are no longer an abstraction but instead are an impulse system, then I'd need to know more about the houserule, but SR6 looks like the answer. In the rules as written, I see no reason why Gabby doesn't go on SR4.
  4. Seems pretty clear that casting Speedart then throwing a prepared javelin should be the same as casting Bladesharp and hitting with a sword.
  5. From a cinematic point of view, one warrior charging towards another who is standing and waiting tend to hit each other simultaneously. However, I'm quite happy to give the advantage to the one who is standing their ground, and in this case the advantage is in hitting first. I wonder if a prepared defender against a charge should have some other bonus, such as a to-hit bonus. I disagree, I don't think it does. YRQGMV.
  6. Yes, Bazza's movement delays his attack, but since they are engaged at SR4, Gabby can attack. If Bazza had used 5 SR to move, that's tricky. Personally I'd say still SR4. SR is an abstraction, not a movie reel frame sequence.
  7. I think it's pretty clear that Multispell 2 allows a single 3D3 disrupt, Multispell 3 allows 4D4, etc., all at DEX SR + 1. The text of Multispell appears to have been copied from the RQ2 spell "Multispell 1", as many stackable spells were described as different versions for different sizes.
  8. I know what the rules say, I'm just not going to enforce that rule. I'm sure some groups will be fine with it. I know mine would not be.
  9. I can't imagine ever using that mechanic to direct a character action. I'd instantly lose the confidence of my players if I did that, it would be game over.
  10. If an illuminate lied to his temple about his earnings and hid his loot, a Divination would not reveal their deception. But if the priest found out through mundane means, cultural rules still apply.
  11. I've always thought of Rune and Passion augments as long lasting but once per session or scenario, but skill augments as being very brief (maybe just one roll) but can be thrown around like confetti. Maybe. If it becomes a problem, maybe only use it to augment skills that are below 50, or that are likely to be knocked down below 50 by opposed skill contests or other modifiers. And if the players complain that that is unfair, well, just tell them "I never roll augments for NPCs, I haven't got the time, so watch out or I might just..."
  12. So the only correct answer isn't helpful. That's a shame, looks like you're beyond help!
  13. I don't think it's the sort of thing that they want to make official proclamations on, a GM or group should come to a consensus on what they prefer.
  14. In my experience, nearly all combats come down to a simple are-you-engaged-or-not, and if there is any ambiguity then it only affects the first round. In some ways I miss the MRQ2/Mythras Manoeuvre skill, which helped figure out who could influence the melee landscape in their favour. As it is, if a player says "I want to back away slowly, and draw them away from my wounded colleague so the healer can get to him", there's no clear way to roll that. Maybe Battle could be used. The way in which I don't miss the skill is in having to remember how to spell it.
  15. Mastery isn't a rune that people can have in RQG.
  16. They aren't going to change the melee round structure at this stage. Feel free to discuss house-ruling it, though, plenty of people are using variants like this.
  17. A sub-cult with different runes and different Rune Lord requirements is interesting, but also problematic. No other cult has rune spells for runes that the main cult does not have, so from an RQG perspective that's tricky. Can an Orlanth member, who joins the Desemborth sub-cult, then use his Illusion rune to case Common Rune spells?
  18. You missed "Vinga Adventurous" from that list.
  19. The former... which means you can't get three shots off in the first round in RQG, whereas you could in RQ3. Interesting, I hadn't realized that. Unless you can have a DEX SR of 0 (DEX 19+), so you could potentially go on 1, 6, 11 depending on how you interpret DEX SR 0.
  20. So there will be another version of Open Seas presented in the Dormal cult, in addition to the normal technique-and-rune version in the core rules?
  21. I haven't heard that, in fact I'm pretty sure I've heard the opposite. At the very least, if the site only supports one voucher then they can issue you one voucher that covers all the PDFs you have bought.
  22. I can't find anything about it in the main rulebook, other than the general "In many cults, initiates may not become shamans or sorcerers". Presumably the prohibition on Sorcery is something detailed in the G&G book. In any case, I'd have interpreted "becoming a sorcerer" as "learning techniques", learning a self-contained spell would not have triggered as "becoming a sorcerer" in my mind.
  23. Why does it mean that? Do those cults forbid sorcery - and does that mean that a LM sorceror cannot also be an Orlanth initiate?
  24. That's not reliable, Mol Tribute said it was heading to Scarnish. That would have been a surprise for the fishermen in a small Scottish island bay. GPS position is 10 hours ago... hopefully it will give us an update soon, and we will know...
  25. East... isn't that inland? Is it a Moonboat?
