  1. Strangely -- it took until nightmare time for me to recall the /other/ equation that may matter. Energy = mass * velocity^2 In nameless units, a spear of mass 1 accelerated up to velocity 2 would have energy 4. A spear of mass 2 accelerated only up to velocity 1 has a measly energy of 2. That would seem to put the balance back on the side of the short spear...
  2. How would CA consider the Gloranthan equivalent of Venus Flytraps, Sundew, and Pitcher Plants?
  3. The assumption is big spear vs small spear -- with the same user! The small spear should be "faster" and more maneuverable in comparison to the big spear; resulting in similar forces to use, and on impact. The small spear may do less damage as the lower inertia means it will also /slow/ down faster once impact has occurred.
  4. Problem is... the more massive the spear, the more it takes to accelerate it in the first place. Refactor the equation as: A = F / M How much of an effect that has on the user is an exercise I'm not quite ready to do calculations for... In simple terms, doubling the mass of the spear will result in half the acceleration presuming the user has the same force behind it. The (double) mass will probably have more inertia, and hence be less maneuverable -- again assuming the user has a constant force between two different spears.
  5. Never had a problem -- at least for the Journal entries; haven't checked to see if there is more on the site.
  6. Is there a cult of Schrodinger?
  7. But consider your "order of need" against "If I heal you, I'll be so spent I won't be able to heal anyone else" I suspect if I were to play a CA healer I'd triage as "Class 1: here's a bandage, wrap that scratch yourself; Class 2: significant damages, but not overly draining on my abilities, I can heal a group with no trouble; Class 3: significant damages/death, would be the only patient I can handle for days, if I can finish the mass of Class 2, I'll come back and see what can still be done"
  8. Sounds a bit more like Coyote... with "tricks" often back-firing on him...
  9. Get the boar's attention, and hope you can climb a tree before it reaches you?
  10. Even his was likely under two pounds... Two pounds gets you a full steel duty pistol (1911 government model, say, 2.5lbs unloaded but with magazine). Most carpentry hammers run 1-1.5lbs.
  11. I'd sure like to see the "knife" that came in at 4.5kg (Chadwick 1999, table 7.1) -- 10lbs! I have a great sword (from Museum Replicas) that probably masses half of that.
  12. Not in my mind... the former is more "if you are one of these, you are granted access to these parts" (meaning other "parts" are still in play), while the latter is "if you one of these, you will only receive these parts" (no other "parts" are available).
  13. Just an observation: "Requirement" seems more "Restrictions" 😈
  14. That's a big goat! (Compared to common goats that are around waist high STANDING). Is it friends with a big blue ox? 😁
  15. And now I'm having visions of ursa major and ursa minor https://my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-rakoon1.fandom.com/wiki/Ursa#Ursa_major_
  16. Well -- the reported ship is heading for US west coast port... Grace is crossing lower Mexico, and Henri is gliding up the eastern coast of the US... Looks like the approach to San Diego is currently safe. Though there is a Linda listed for central Pacific...
  17. Methinks thou dost protest too much... 😈
  18. I somehow doubt that 64-bit Windows 10 Pro, on a quad-core/hyperthreaded i7-3770, 12 GB of RAM, with 7TB of disk space (over 3 drives, not including the back-up drive which formats out at 5.5TB) constitutes a "mobile device" (oh, and the display is 21.5 x 12.5 inches). Red Book page 7 regarding ritual practice, which /may/ be applicable to this case (mostly it is talking about increasing chance for success in casting or Worship)
  19. Page 313, however, states: I somewhat doubt that one could manage that using just Sanctify -- though a 10m radius provides lots of room for food supplies <G> (a 66ft diameter would swallow my house). One would likely need an associate to ensure one stays on track I don't seem to be able to delete an accidental quote...
  20. Extract from the pseudo ToC. Italics in the original source. From Classic Fantasy itself Almost 80 pages of monsters.
  21. Since the presence of a priest is implied by being in a significant temple (vs shrine), the "location" bonus may subsume the priest's contribution in leading the /ritual/ (I'm separating out the ceremonial aspects from "worship" which is an individual procedure).
  22. I'm pretty sure the "Classic Fantasy Expert Set" (itself an add-on to "Classic Fantasy", which is an add-on to Mythras) has one on the cover... Different name used in setting It's the only "monster" introduced in the "Expert Set"; the rest are in the base "Classic Fantasy" supplement.
  23. Found my ancient notes: this was a character generated to compare RQ3 vs RQ:RiG, after all, so the same characteristic roll was used for both systems. Transcription error when I entered things into the fillable PDF character sheet. As I said, the dice were extremely favorable... That DEX 12 is really DEX 17... So that makes manipulation skill bonus +25 (as I originally reported; and also goes with the DEX SR of 1 on the character sheet). I did, in going through the rules again find I missed the SARTAR 10% AIR Rune, so with both Air and Earth at 70%, I could have gone with +1 CON and +2 STR -- but that wouldn't change bonuses, as the ranges are 13-15/17-20
  24. The machine is spitting out money? Copper "clacks"... That's going to ruin the economy!
