  1. This is where I tried https://joindiaspora.com/ I'm in now using your link. Cheers.
  2. Sounds like good fun. Not sure I can engineer a way to play but would love to eavesdrop if possible. I added you to my circles, so will see if I can be available on Saturday. Cheers Damon
  3. I'm on facebook and Google+ I have great hopes for the Hangouts on G+ basically a 1:9 way video chat with acess to google docs. Lots of gaming potential. I had a look at diaspora, but it was 'closed'.
  4. Thanks for the find. I have had a copy of the word doc for a while, but it is no more complete than the html version there. I think it is a shame tha the project was cancelled / abandoned. However, from reading The One Ring, its possible to have a ME game with no PC magic system.
  5. Hi Fergo113. Just wondering how you getting on and hoping you haven't abandoned this project. Thanks Damon
  6. By the time I heard of Loz's Hawkmoon, it was all over. Shame it didn't work out well. I picked up the Mongoose version, but being so grey, its hard to read. I have very fond memories of the first one, warts and all. Had a lot of milage from it and it was hard to go back to SB, since my players were very fond of their flame lances. Not sure what the state of play is with the licence now, since the most qualified person to do a Multiverse / Eternal Champion RPG has left Mongoose. Quite tempted to run an Elric game using HeroQuest and run a dream as a HeroQuest.
  7. Well done and Congratulations! I was very concerned and disappointed that once RQ seemed to have a great set of rules again, it had been prematurely killed off. Best of luck with the new edition and I look forward to it. Just one request, seeing at the greater integration with Moon Design. Can we get some dual statted 3rd Age Gloranthan goodness to tie in to the HQ2 stuff? Brill!
  8. I agree that Jorune is 'alien' enough for the players to get into without the need to add the complex system. Familiarity with the rules will certainly help. Unfortunately, rather than BRP, it was D20 who went OGL and spawned a plethora of games using the same underlysing system. That imploded with disastrous effects. The BRP rennaisance apperas to be of much better quality.
  9. Ha. I think I found a solution to your Thriddle dilema. 2D6+3
  10. Glad you got a breakthru. I'll look forward to seeing your treatment of isho.
  11. Not wanting to restart a flamewar, but I still don't understand what the issue with RAW is. The more you do, the longer it takes to do it. You don't stand around waiting you're doing something! Its not a penalty on initiative, its just the passage of time of an action that can't happen immediately. However, if you're happy with npc's doing the same to characters so be it. Its not D&D!
  12. Read all the beastiaries you can find. Map / tweak existing beasties to Jorune Beasties. The players will not know the difference. That is what I would do.
  13. Ian, How about using SIZ for mass and STR for Height? My logic is that strength tends to be relative to size to a certain extent. ie you need to be strong enough to carry your body about. Not perfect but might be a better fit?
  14. Ok. Been skimming the 2nd edition briefly and just have a few observations at moment. Bronth. How do they stack up against Great Troills? I would put both more or less in same size strentgth bracket. Croid. There is a picture on page 11 of the Tauther guide where a croid picks up a Cleash with no trouble and is about to rip it apart. Quite fiercesome! It looks to be 4 or 5 times the size of a cleash. Ie as in how many cleash you could fit in its skin. I can't think of a suitable equivalent from RQ. Maybe a small giant? Corastin. I'd probably make them similar to Bronth in strength and size. That picture with the woman and corastin bodyguard. He stands head and shoulders over her, but she looks quite petite. Cleash, maybe heavy for actual displacement, but have spindly legs and armes. Bodies are bulbous. Although tall, its all legs. Same with scarmis. Tall but spindley. Sorry I can't be any more help with stats.
  15. Hmm interesting dilema. I don't know what your answer would be since it depends on the 'density' of the body in question. I'd try to work out SIZ both in Height and Weight and then apply a 'bodytype' multiplier to them. Anything from 0.25 to 1.75. I expect insectoids to be lighter than reptiles. Mamals somwhere in between. You might need a SIZ table like in SB1-4 with height/weight ranges for SIZ by bodytype. Ultimately, use your instinct and rank them by how massive you think they are and apply figures accordingly. The info in the sholari pack may have been assembled from independent sources and may not be consistent.
  16. YMMV In my fantasy world.... Swords can chip easily, dull and even shatter or bend. To parry with them, especially large and heavy 2 handed weapons would be inviting disaster. Shields are designed to take a battering and although they will break, are better for blocking / parrying than a sword. In BRP, however, its a tit for tat combat which makes shields a bit worthless. To me, the best time to attack an opponent, is the moment, you have just parried him and control his weapon via your parrying weapon. Whether it is shield or main gauche makes no difference. A single weapon user, is most vulnerable at that point. But in BRP with fixed initiative, it is a given that the slower opponent will attack second and will not be able to attack in the same SR/ DEX Rank he parries. The last point is the tricky one for an rpg. Long weapons have an advantage so long as a short weapon user doesn't close. The video below is a good example. However, in BRP, the closing rules are not very clear, and mechanistically reverts to tit for tat. I was thinking of great hammers, picks, halberds and axes, more than spear or naginata (sword on a stick) which are indeed quick. There are some shaft parries, and you may get away with one or two, but I am quite certain that the wooden poles can be eventually cut by a sword or axe. None of the SCA type videos will show this, since they don't use sharp swords.
  17. I am also slightly disappointed with the treatment which why have these house rules. 1. A shield is a dedicated defensive weapon. All shield parries are Easy. 2. 2 handed shafted weapons are too big and heavy to succesfully parrya lighter edged weapon. All parries are Difficult. 3. Edged weapons suffer damage whern used to parry Large weapons.
  18. Thanks for that. For some reason I missed the earlier link.
  19. Nothing crappy about it. Includes all the options I'd like. Hit locations and Sanity points! I don't suppose you could make the word documents available too so that us tinkerers can amend some the the skills to suit? Cheers Damon
  20. I've had the privilidge of playing in 3 of Wolverine's BRP Sharpe games at Continuum. He loves the subject and has an almost encyclopeadic knowledge of the books and series. His quick load rule was brilliant mimicked the books and saved my butt several times. BRP can do napoleonic with ease. I was kinda hoping he would write it up as a generic monograph but it was not to be.
  21. Seriously, you are better off using the Elric! Conversion in the downloads section. Use the Mongoose books for fluff.
