  1. Although Shield isn't a common Rune magic, it doesn't actually say what runes it requires: RQG 339 and using Associate cult rune spells supports rune vagary: RQG 283 (my emphasis) I'd let them use their Earth rune. Babeester Gor has both Shield & Earth Shield (Earth & Air) like Orlanth.
  2. Book space. Because as is fitting for a Great goddess she has a great number of husbands and RQG couldn't have everything in it. These are in the upcoming Gods of Glorantha book. If you have RQ3, it's looks pretty similar to the ones in the Ernalda cult writeup, otherwise if your players want a spell from Ernalda for their Husband-Protector cult, just pick one protective or fertility based Rune spell. If it's wrong later, don't worry, the adventurer was just blessed. Otherwise Cloud Call from Orlanth Thunderous (as Book 5, RQ3), and Shield from Orlanth Adventurous, Impede Chaos from Storm Bull (as Book 5, RQ3).
  3. Stephen Marsh was pretty much one of the gold standards for me in the early 90s with his settings and writings on HeroQuesting, sadly he had some huge life changes and (unsurprisingly) withdrew from the scene. Now he's back and writing stuff again (hurrah) Here's written a new post about Heroquesting and the Godlearners Secret https://apostephen.blogspot.com/2020/05/heroquesting-and-godlearners-secret.html If you are interested in his work, have a look here: Heroquest Home page Shattered Norns - I played a lot of this.
  4. While I thought this looks easy, the added complexity is that if used for combat, there is an additional level of special, which doesn't have much effect on normal skills. Keeping the special is the problem. Ignore the special and it's fine...
  5. However she gives two rune spells that use the Earth rune and another that can be used with Life, Movement or Moon... Further evidence of runic connections could be that Hwarin Dalthippa's road that connects Jillaro with Mirin’s Cross and Filichet, of which the upcoming Gods of Glorantha says:
  6. You could message the author Jean-Christophe Cubertafon, I think he’s on here, certainly Facebook.
  7. Throngee promises to 'train up to two points of spirit magic'
  8. There's an SRD for 13th Age that's free: Archmage Engine. Not Gloranthan, but lets you understand what's going on in this forum. Although I've played 13th Age, I've not played 13G, but it has nice art: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Pospisil-13G-ScorpionQueenWIP.jpg
  9. I just came across an update to this: Charles on “why the diagram is wrong” by Greg and Charles, has even more info...
  10. From the upcoming Cults of Glorantha (surprise!):
  11. This guy pretty much covers it: https://stevelaube.com/how-much-can-i-quote-from-another-source-without-permission/. fewer than 300 words is considered fair use, but read what the article says (not what I write). Make sure you credit where it's from. You used 132 words, so likely fine. It's more about IP. So I would suggest the following. less than 300 words Use the quote marks in the tool bar so everyone knows it's a quote. say where it's from This also helps when people are talking about stuff, always say what exactly it is and where it's from, stops misunderstandings. Where is this from for example? Book, page?
  12. Ignoring the RQ mechanics here, just like on earth, I believe that physical Gloranthans have a tiny amount of all the runes. On earth we have likely at least an atom of all the stable elements (including Uranium, sadly now Plutonium is likely). I think there's a particle of chaos in everyone.
  13. There are a number already, old Scooby do, live Scooby do, reanimated Scooby Do. This version doesn't look as good as original and live. I recently rewatched the Scooby Do Project: From my favourite bit:
  14. Greg wrote this article that might be of help, Charles Corrigan drew the diagram to help. Some may consider this to be outdated, it is slightly as I believe that the 3 planes overlap slightly (like a venn diagram) and the lunar plane is the result. But just think of it as a teaching tool: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/catalogue/publishers/issaries/issaries-heroquest-1-products-2003-20xx/heroquest-1-archive/heroquest-1-support-material/heroquest-1-scenarios-and-articles/accessing-eternity/
  15. I've thought they were a continuation of the Ancient Moon religion who worshipped the Great Moon Goddess (now called Tareltara). I don't think it ever ended and has always existed, much like storm worship has always existed under the influence of the Sacred Mountains. Those who are drawn to it are strong in the moon rune. Tareltara becomes Verithurusa is the North Goddess, White Queen of Heaven who dips down following Umatum into the Underworld and meets Death (White Moon era). Here she changes from White to Red and is now called Sedenya (Red Moon era). The women of her tribe are born very pale (white) and become red as they grow older. I think it's these descendants that form the ancestral worship of the White moon. Later she becomes Lesilla (Gerra) the Blue Moon (Blue Moon era), who dies when the moon falls (Black Moon era). Orogeria rises, the Green Moon (Green Moon era). Time begins. Sunstop, Natha is the Moon goddess here, 75 years as Nysalor. She is only in the sky at Sunstop. I think she's invisible except to illuminates. Castle Blue, Full Goddess returns, her brief time in the sky beset by conflict. She is physically red to black and back. I think is is a by product of the way she was assembled. Moon falls again and the cycle starts again. The White Moon is revealed and the ancient moon religion is once again predominates (new White Moon era assuming followers believe that the original era ended). I've always imagined that the Moon after Sunstop should have risen white, but the Seven Mothers made something different (a bit like Dune where Paul is a generation too soon and is not what the plan was meant to make). It was the tampering that made Nysalor that was the problem. It birthed Natha into the world not Tareltara. This is based on discussions with Greg at Gailcon 94, odd notes, etc and should be considered heretical by the Empire 🙂
  16. can you add the page reference. Thanks.
  17. i've thought about it for years. Teaching was one of the few skills that I would add to RQG (and CoC), although I tend to think now that it's actually easier to imagine it as equal to CHAx5. However that's likely too controversial for many. I only ever bring it up if there's some kind of player interaction with the teacher or research into how good they are. Having worked in education myself, I can generalise that there are basically those that could and those that couldn't teach. Combine that with level of knowledge or skill in their subjects, and I found extremes of excellent teachers that, didn't know enough (not enough experience yet) and those that were very knowledgable, but terrible teachers, with everything else in-between. CHAx5 seems obvious after that in an opposed roll vs the student's skill. Here were my findings, results are the % increase. Fumble Fail Success Critical Fumble -1 0 0 0 Fail 0 0 1 1 Success 0 1 3 4 Critical 0 1 4 6 Ultimately it's too fiddly for my tastes. So I ignore it and get on with the game.
  18. You can join more than one subcult, temporary initiates to Orlanth Rex don't pay a point of POW, but like other Orlanth subcult's full members do, adding to their Orlanth rune point pool. Some subcults have subcults.
  19. Martial leaders (like most Rune Lords). Perhaps some do in Sartar, others may just wander, offering their services to a Tribal King if asked. If they are wandering, they needn't be clan or tribe bound. That's certainly the case amongst the Praxians where the cult is inter-tribal. They could be either.
  20. “Yes I have [said what the GLS is]. I told Robin, and he wrote it down, and it was published.” -Greg “_Glorantha, The Second Age_ by Robin Laws states the God Learner secret on page 13.” -Greg The sidebar from Glorantha, the Second Age. It’s short, 118 words. At many many conventions Greg would do a Q&A, one of the seven (?) questions he would never answer was "What is the secret of the God Learners". I always thought this was a wind-up aimed at obsessive gamers. One of the other questions was what are the other questions you won't answer? I've no idea what the other five were. There might be more on this in the Forgotten Secrets of Glorantha and / or chapbooks (links at end). For reference start here: my favourite is the first line - "There now. That is settled. Wasn't it worth seven pages of back and forth?" http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=25050&start=100 https://www.glorantha.com/forums/topic/whatever-happened-to-the-god-learners-secret/ Forgotten Secrets links (remember Sandy's & Greg's Glorantha weren't always the same. https://www.chaosium.com/forgotten-secrets-of-glorantha/ https://www.chaosium.com/more-forgotten-secrets-of-glorantha/ https://youtu.be/ELsZKL1XGe0 Part 1 https://youtu.be/FEAR8pjwSp8 Part 2
  21. Where does it say 2 seasons?
  22. One of my players pointed out that this was clearly the cost of a single person attending the class. Two people would pay 250 each, etc. Would depend on the class. For the physical stats, likely 5-10, may be more depending on the instructor - think gym instructors - so ex-soldiers, mercenaries, etc. For Charisma, probably 5-10. In modern terms I see this in terms of a finishing school (ignoring gender bias). Public speaking, presentation skills, personal grooming, etc. I'd say temples would be the main source of teachers - Rune Lords, priests, etc. POW is already covered and I think the cost is 500 per person. No limit on numbers, except temple size, but even then there's always outside. This 500 would count as tithing should your character need to do it.
  23. As an aside, I find these 1920 maps very useful. They aren't crowded with modern stuff and being from the 1920s need no editing: https://www.loc.gov/maps/?fa=location%3Amassachusetts&all=true&dates=1920-1929. There's also linked photos at the bottom.
  24. Certainly, but P!nk not Jim Beam and never the misquoted.
