  1. I'd say you have picked the best game (Renaissance D100) to introduce you to the d100 system. No need to make things more complicated.
  2. Standalone, IF they do it right. I'd like this to be the most gonzo fantasy RPG ever. It should not be about going to Dream world and back and forth - no, just Dreamlands, you as a native. And BRP and not necessarily RQ6.
  3. One thing I do not like in Savage Worlds are the generic powers. Hate that. It takes the spirit out of it. So I would disagree with the idea of unified Powers System which simply has a different names & sources depending on setting. But I would be ok if essentials had just a basic magic school with 20 spells that would do your fantasy stuff.
  4. What I wish BRP Essentials to be similar product as Savage Worlds Explorers Edition is. Core mechanics that do not have to be dealt with in specific setting books. So there should be basic combat, skill check, magic rules. Sample gear for medieval, modern, future. And it should be as light as possible. So other setting books should have BRP Essentials as prerequisite and it will have only rules that differ or are extended to Essentials edition. I don't want to read about how to read d100 dice or about skill checks in every BRP book if it is the same.
  5. I voted on CoC7, except advantage/disadvantage mechanic.
  6. Dragon Warriors with (light) d100 system would be massively awesome. Chaosium should do it ASAP. There are plenty of DW adventures that all are very good.
  7. I'm gonna stick to RQ6 and OQ, but I'm gonna steal that! Never thought this rule is so old - I thought it is the latest innovation in CoC7 :)
  8. I wonder how the RQ2 reprint is different to OQ2?
  9. About CoC7 vs RQ/BRP, I really like the percentual attributes. I don't like how every skill must be trained in order for the character to be barely capable in this. For example when STR is absolute maximum and Athletics is not trained. Then this beast of a man with it's 30-40% of Athletics most likely will fail breaking down a door. It would be so much more obvious to just make a STR check for this.
  10. Speaking of typical fantasy RPG book covers - if I am ashamed have the book visible on my work table, it's too much. I like how BRP famly products have been more mature (mature - lol) on that regard. Hopefully Revolution D100 will keep up the good standards.
  11. I did a random character generator for OpenQuest: http://generator-openquest.rhcloud.com/ It is only client side JavaScript, no backend databases, etc. You have much more ambitious project for sure, good luck One feature I would add is pdf-output for printing. For my generator I used bootstrap css and tried to configure print layout to be reasonable for printing out. It is far from perfect.
  12. The new scenario supplement should be released, but I have not seen it available yet. http://www.yog-sothoth.com/wiki/index.php/Doors_to_Darkness_(Supplement) When will this be available?
  13. OpenQuest has "Intimidate/Persuade" as combat action, which does the same thing.
  14. So with combat SEs I assume we have Combat Actions as well? Some have 2, some have 4. It is one of the most crucial stat for a character. With 2 CAs, you might just re-roll your character, because you do not make it after your first fight unless GM chooses not to attack you. Again, it is very realistic simulation, but not sure if more pulpy game is desired.
  15. Which books I need to be read before all the spoilers?
  16. A bit offtopic, but I would really be interested in a historical setting of colonizing America. Indians vs colonists. Like the upcoming movie The Revenant You could play either side, or Dancing with Wolves kind of stuff
  17. GMis is already enough work. Prepping rulesets for other players is more than I am willing to do.
  18. I am used to RQ6 combat effects. But I have seen how people who are not playing it daily are struggling with it. It is not newbie friendly or basic. Each time the battle will halt and he/she will take the time to process the list and mix and match the effects that are suitable. I will never play RQ6 as one-shot with new group to have a old school dungeoncrawling fun for example - I was hoping BRP basic would be good choice for this. I also think different genres might have different detail level of combat or perhaps different sets of combat effects? Will it do pulpy games? Superheroes? I just want to point out to give people option for simplicity, because many like BRP just for that.
  19. Generic book should have rules for creating profession/background template. For example (2x30%, 3x20% skill bonuses, etc). It can be simple. But still, I want to know - are the base attributes percentile values in the new BRP core? Also, about Delta Green, I quite like the combat rules. They remind me OpenQuest where you have multiple tactical options that one can do in combat. I remember CoC6 had it very loose and when I was beginner, I really struggled running the combat there. I wish new BRP core had these simple yet efficient combat actions. I also hope BRP core will not include RQ6 combat effects as they are too detailed and are suited only for specific flavor of gameplay.
  20. Yeah, I just read Enlightened Magic - very well written and immediately wanted to play it in World of Darkness kind of world. Looking forward to the new products in urban fantasy line.
  21. So what is this essential, basic BRP book? RQ6 light does not tell me much, because RQ6 is the most detailed RPG I know (and am willing to play). I think, what comes from RQ are the derived skill base values from attributes (DEX + INT), am I right? How compatible will the new BRP core be with CoC7, where attributes are percentile? Will it be the case for new BRP core as well? I quite like it, because quite often it makes sense just to test character's raw strength, speed, etc rather than specific skill that may or may not be trained. I don't like how the base skill values are so low, when they do not get trained. Will BRP also have occupations/backgrounds? That give skill bonuses and access to advanced skills? OQ got rid of them, but RQ6 went too deep into it. I'd like to have them in very simple form.
  22. If answering to forums is dramatic change in management then Chaosium really was dead (but dreaming)
  23. So, any news when it will be available again?
