  1. I'm stoked at the integration with Chaosium. Glorantha theme would be epic for this forum site. The common place to keep communication lines open is great.
  2. Excellent news and thank you so much for this.
  3. Well said Rick and thanks for your clarification. I hope the Kraken sessions went well
  4. BGB and Magic World mixture as much as the 32 page limit would allow.
  5. Great news....will pledge when I can. Good luck with it.
  6. I put any mistaken assessment of the BRP product line down to being a more recent convert to the d100 rule set. I have been following it's development for several years, on again and off again, since I got back into TTRPGs. But not as closely as I should have been. So thank you for your clarification. I want it to continue to be successful even if this current course may have people concerned.
  7. Also I think we might know a little more about things after this weekend and event going on in Germany...where most of the Chaosium are gathering for session. Here's the guest list of THE KRAKEN - http://www.the-kraken.de/guests/ And statement form Chaosium management listing some of the sessions. (From their FB page.) "This weekend Chaosium's Sandy Petersen, Jeff Richard, Michael O'Brien ("MOB") and Neil Robinson will be heading to The Kraken, "the baroque gathering of international gamers" taking place at Schloss Neuhausen, a Prussian Château. Other special guests include the Rune Czar himself Ken Rolston, Jason Durall and Chris Klug. Jeff, MOB and Neil will be hosting the seminars "What's up Chaosium?" and a "A Gloranthan New Age", while Ken and Sandy will be discussing "The Big Ones That Got Away: Dream Games We Never Made" and "Chaosium Tales". It promises to be a fun weekend of gaming, fine food and drinks (and German beer!) http://www.the-kraken.de/guests/ "
  8. I'm not convinced that the sky is falling as it has been predicted for decades in terms of Chaosium more generally. No sales equals a need to adapt to changing conditions. It's sadly not just about "making business sense", it's about when does it become just plain fan service and a drain on resources and when does it become a marketable brand that a large core group of players and GMs will take up to drive the kind of culture based wider take up that is needed for theses titles. I want BRP/MW to succeed but sadly it hasn't in it's current form. If Chaosium is allowed to go fully under there will be no source for the current published material that IS for sale via PDF and POD to be available and be possibly built on...maybe this the opportunity to turn things around and get proper promotion resources built for the WHOLE of Chaosiums product lines. Making it more likely they might address any ongoing short comings with their chosen strategy now with an underpinning of resources. I've chosen to back this Chaosium on the strength of it's wider resilience. I see no different a commitment from the new management team on this. Even if I fully understand underlying fans misgivings and concerns.
  9. I do hope the three or four unpublished works manage to come to fruition. One or all of them at least.
  10. I hope Chaosium may consider licensing out production of Magic World and keep it POD via OBS and/or Lulu. Perhaps to Ben....:D
  11. I'm immensely impressed with the work Loz and Pete Nash have done in fighting to keep the promise and reality of the name and brand Runequest alive. It has a solid base to build from and continues to remind me of the resilience of good gaming experiences supported by workable, adaptable rules, flexible enough to drive 'by the book' games or reasonable and well thought house rules variants. All I am after is a chance for Chaosium/Moon Design/Design Mechanism (and others in the Cahosium team chosen to remain with them) to refresh and put their energies into rebuilding Chaosium layer by layer. Rules diversity and respect for differing gaming experiences- should drive this market now. It's up to us as consumers and fellow writers/designers to get behind this fresh start. Marketing on a large scale takes time and man power resources, not just cash well. I wish them well in the future.
  12. Perhaps it's a reply in answer to customer concerns more generally. Dicussing what they will be doing with the BRP core product line and assuring us it will be published more but in a different form is a much more solid message from the team of Moon Design that now manages Chaosium than pronouncements and promises were form the previous management team at Chaosium. To me Moon Design have shown practically they deliver as best they can on their words. Not mentioning and (whether potentially or completely) dropping Magic World is regrettable...but not unexpected in todays market..
  13. I am not surprised at this news at all. Consolidation as a lead in line to the re-integrated Runequest/Glorantha product is sound strategy, something to build on and add to over time is the ideal approach. At least Chaosium is being as open as it can be with it's plans. I agree with some of the concerns above, but truly it's time to move the product line on and build a fresh approach in line with how successful other d100 based ruleset titles have been in producing great products in other iterations before the new ownership re-organisation became necessary. The future of 'Runequest' (used as a historical label to denote lineage via Chaosium) based rules is more assured in my view.
  14. Great photo showing some product history. Love it.
  15. Whatever happens to the various iterations of the base d100 rules sets as brands and IPs, I'm sure the new management team has the best interests of Chaosium, it's history and the core game experiences of CoC and Runequest more generally in mind. I wish them well as they traverse as new era for the company. It's now more than ever that the market is volatile. Trying to find a course in it must be difficult.
  16. Thank you so much Rod for this update.
  17. They should adapt Magic World and fold BRP into it or vice versa. Give one a re-edit and release it free as a Core Rules book. Much like Design Mechanism has done with RQ6 Essentials...create a lead in line for their eventual resumption of publishing Runequest that unifies RQ6 rule-set with Glorantha. COC and Glorantha will be the focus going forward for sure.
  18. Announced as part of it's restructure Chaosium has decided to close it's office and warehouse. Changing times and online gaming options taking their toll. Pictures of an end of an era on it's website. http://www.chaosium.com/
  19. Anymore information on this product?
  20. Just purchased my own copy of the PDF of Magic World today from DriveThru and it's great. Thanks Ben and the people at Chaosium!!
  21. Just discovering this gem that was/is a BRP supplement, is there any more information re this press release from Mindjammer Press about a Runequest 6 conversion? Details here.... http://mindjammerpress.com/2014/03/21/mindjammer-press-and-the-design-mechanism-announce-the-chronicles-of-future-earth-for-runequest-6th-edition/#comments
  22. I sold the setting materials and gave away the core rules in the late 90s with the thought of getting more serious as 'family man'.....huge mistake. So I'm slowly rebuilding a physical library of a mix of RPG material reflecting an interest in wanting to run most pre-Hasbro RPG rule-sets (and D20/OGL derivatives) yet play as many different games that have been developed since as I can. It's what I'm familiar with and a good launching point to discover more and get game running confidence. My experience in my teens was only as a player.
  23. (Trouble-making first time poster in your forumz necro-ing an old thread). 5ed D&D seems to me to be a rules toolkit rather than a full new edition all it's own....leveraging previous investments in setting books for each edition after 2ed it sort of provides a 'rules drop in' for stuff you've got. 5e is a good intro 'gateway' game basis to build from. I'm keeping my TSR Ad&D 2ed books for this reason I had a set of them and now regret selling and offloading them in the past few years. Other than that I'm a recent convert to RQ/d100.....looking forward to getting behind a revitalised Chaosium going forward.
