  1. Except that the Lunar Empire has been described as hating Thanatari in Cults of Terror. They can tolerate the Bat and other chaotic gods but Thanatar has no restraint and so is purged without mercy. The Empire doesn't favour Krarsht. Krarsht conceals its own actions and is well-known for it. The same goes for Cacodemon and to a lesser extent Vivamort.
  2. Seriously? The Thanatari walk around with heads on their belts. They stand out in a crowd. How are they going to escape civilized societies from mustering in troops and magicians to kill them? It doesn't matter how powerful they are - they have no friends and no means of concealing themselves.
  3. It's not been stated. One idea that i had before was
  4. I'm not interested in debating the nature of abusrdity. I am simply stating as a blunt fact that the idea of significant Thanatari worship in Carmania and that a Thanatari priest could travel from Carmania to Prax is deranged nonsense considering that Thanatar is one of the few chaotic cults the Lunars would quite happily wipe out. If the priest had been one of Vivamort, Krarsht or Cacodemon then it would be plausible but not Thanatar.
  5. Under new management. Here is an early version explaining the attitude to RQ3 material Its status as a great supplement is irrelevant as to whether what it says about the nature of Thanatari cults in Carmania or even the concept of becoming an Ogre through cannibalism.
  6. It is not my definition but that repeatedly laid down by Jeff no matter how much you persist in whining to me about it. I have had it up to here with you ascribing everything you don't like as being solely my decision and heartless and cruel to boot.
  7. Shadow on the Borderlands did say such things but a) it is no longer canon and b) more importantly the level of Thanatari worship it suggests in such places is absurd.
  8. As well as Buserian and Irrippi Ontor, other versions of the Scribal God might be: Tadenit (among the Malkioni - Hates the Vadeli) Korudel (Wise God of the Eastern Isles) Vashanti (Emperor and Righteous Knowledge God of Kralorela)
  9. Illumination isn't the sort of resource one can exploit like that.
  10. Black Fang is specifically a Pavisite deity. Lanbril may be worshipped in Dragon Pass and the Holy Country but nobody seemingly pays much attention to him there.
  11. Niskis is primarily a minor god in Orlanthi mythology hence I wouldn't place him in Peloria. The actual phallic god in Peloria would be Umatum or Deseeti and be associated with Darjiin.
  12. From the presence of Dara Happa on Horse, I think these are meant to be reactionary Dara Happans who have taken to riding on horseback in imitation of their Pentan masters. They could survive as another bandit god in the north but they would have stiff competition from the Kashis.
  13. I doubt Thanatar is worshipped to any great extent within Peloria. He's not the type of god that one can worship in secret.
  14. But that's the Orlanthi themselves, not the Dara Happans/Pelorians.
  15. I've really not seen any evidence for Veskerele being a thief god. Edit: Since others have made the above point, i'll expand. There's no mythology about him and the only reference is an off-the-cuff comment that Greg made in the foreword of Thieves Arm. If I had to hazard a guess, I'ld say he is one of the Many in Hell.
  16. There is a Molandro who Yelm fought (mentioned in the Jonstown Compendium of the RuneQuest Companion) who is unknown in Dara Happan mythology.
  17. Except that the Trollkin Curse was not caused by the Sunstop but by the Battle of Night and Day a few years later. It's possible that trolls and kralori could compress the two events butanyone examing it mythically would see the difference. The actual event might be remembered in the same way as: That's the Sons of the Sun remembering a mythic battle which their god lost but they have no knowledge of a worldly battle at the same time. I've been told that it was some major stuff going down in Saird at the time. Ingolf has a similar event in his Saga
  18. Why are we discussing Lunar occupation when your original question was about the Arkati and Ralios? As for the "surely be absolutely seething with intruige", it doesn't look it from Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes, the Sartar Companion or the Coming Storm.
  19. The topic under question is someone joinihg a cult to act as a double agent or fifth columnist. This is completely different from being a Lunar in the service of Argrath.
  20. The problem I have with double agents joining cults is that it's too modern a mindset. If you have a society whose idea of a liberal attitude to crime and punishment is to liberally apply the death penalty, then there isn't much interest in long-term infiltration of an evil cult to find out their nefarious plans - just kill them all as well as people in the wrong place to be certain (c.f. the likely fate of the villagers in Gaumata's Vision). Want to know where the chaotic cult is meeting? For that you have informers (I saw X meeting Y to pray to Z) and witchfindes (including our Storm Bullies).
  21. He might be the ranking Lhankoring within the Colymar Tribe.
  22. The Destroyer's cult looks too brutal for that IMO. His iconography (Guide p376 and 377) portrays him a incarnation of destruction (black sphere, flanged mace) and closer to Zorak Zoran rather than a deceitful agent. The concept might work for a local cult of Arkat the Deceiver but it would not be a common practice as everybody believes the Deceivers to be totally evil. More importantly I don't think the Arkati use Illumination for such political purposes. For them Illumination is a spiritual goal rather than a tool to infiltrate evil cults and bring them to justice. I really don't see much room in Ralios for the worshippers of Zorak Zoran to understand the value of skullduggery. As for the Lightbringers, it would be as likely as Sartarite tolerating someone who joins Lunar cults to betray them from within. I could expect an Arkati to use this reasoning to justify his actions but I don't think people outside the cult would be so convinced.
  23. Might be on the other side of the river from the Old Man Village of the Orlmarth.
