  1. Here are some of the figures I've finished painting.

    Broo pack from MadKnight...

For some reason, I ended up with two of the rhino broo when I placed my order. So, I cut-off the axe head from one of them and glued a flail spiked ball and chain that I had removed from some other non-Gloranthan figure.

I'm still slowly painting the remaining Broo pack figures.

  2. I just backed the latest Mad Knight kickstarter for 28mm Glorantha miniatures. It only runs for the next 9 days:

Troll Caravan. 28mm Runequest Glorantha Miniatures

Here's the description of this set of minis:

"This is THE TROLL CARAVAN,  a 28mm white metal miniatures caravan full of Trollish goodness which is my fourth Kickstarter.

Zathros of Halikiv  is an Argan Argar priest and his caravan beetles its way from Dagori Inkarth to Pavis, then to the Holy Country via  Prax and Sartar every year. Zathros rides a giant beetle and is accompanied by a host of trollkin and troll guards, both living and dead. The caravan normally moves at night time and rests up during the day. Trollkin on small beetles scout ahead of the caravan. The main body of the caravan is guarded by full trolls and undead great trolls on giant beetles. Trollkin porters will fight if necessary and it is rumoured that some of the beetles are themselves intelligent. A full set of RQG stats will be provided to backers via email regardless of their pledge level.

All figures sold via my Kickstarters' will be fully supported by the upcoming Wargame rules Glorantha : Skirmish War. There are five rewards in this Kickstarter. These are all priced at the same amount so if you wish you can chop and change during the survey process. Rewards are all 28mm heroic scale and are compatible with my previous Kickstarter projects."

I've been collecting all of Mad Knight's Glorantha miniatures and am close to having all of the Broo raiders painted.

  3. Does anyone know if the set of Dark Hold Duckmen miniatures from Rebel Minis is the same set that Mongoose Publishing produced some years ago when they were publishing Mongoose Runequest & Runequest II? The image here looks to be the same set, but I've only seen one photo years before of the Mongoose Publishing Duck miniatures, and my memory may be failing.

Anyway, the Rebel Minis set looks different from the images of Durulz that I'm used to seeing in publications. These minis look more "anthropomorphic" than illustrations I've seen in published RQ and Glorantha books.

Does anyone have this set of Dark Hold Duckmen, and are they the right size, proportionally, to other 28mm Glorantha miniatures?

  4. I seem to recall a few other gaming related articles on Forbes in the past two years -- One on the surge in interest with Euro Games (e.g., Settlers of Catan) among Silicon Valley, and another one of the renewed popularity of D&D. I can't find the articles for reference and it may have something to do with my adblocker too. I wasn't able to read the Delta Green article due to my adblocker. Thanks, @lordabdul & @Ian Absentia for summarizing the content.

  5. Victrix Limited currently has a Free Worldwide Postage discount code (AUTUMNSALE) through 21 October 2019 on orders of £75 or more. I'm planning to use it to get a few sets of their Ancients line to use as Gloranthan figures. Probably a set of Gauls and the Celtic Chariot set looks cool for Sartarites. I'm considering a set of the early Romans for Lunars.

  6. Victrix Limited has a few sets in their 28mm Ancients line to represent Macedonians. Check out their figure sets here. They also have others in their Ancients line that could represent Lunars. I received a free worldwide postage discount code via their email newsletter that is valid through 21 October 2019: AUTUMNSALE

  7. I got my large order of Infinity Engine miniatures, which also included the Dragonnewts from the kickstarter, and I'm totally loving them. These are some hella sculpts! Bravo to Richard and company for producing a fine series of Glorantha miniatures.

  8. I got my order of Morokanths and many more Rapier miniatures (it was more economical to place an oder for multiple miniatures due to international postage) and I'm extremely happy with all of the figures. The sculpts are marvelous!

I'm now saving up for an order of the Scorpionmen and others.

  9. @Guthroth I too have been building up my collection of Glorantha miniatures, albeit not necessarily for skirmish games, but for Runequest roleplaying. Here's a link to the Glorantha Miniatures thread where we've been adding links to many different collections of minis. Some are not licensed Glorantha miniatures, but they are Bronze Age (Ancient) lines that would work well for Lunar armies. Check out the discussion thread.

  10. @g33k I don't know about distribution agents, but the U.S.-based retailer Noble Knight Games has a very large mail-order operation and may be interested in bulk orders. It might be worth us contacting them so they know we're interested. They've always been open to customer requests for new products.

You may like to look at Casting Room Miniatures 28mm Trojan civilians and Persian civilians. I’ve got some myself. Pretty good.

Thanks for sharing @JDM I'll take a look at them. The Trojan civilians look like they could work as Esrolian citizens.

Medieval ducks in 15mm.  A fit?  Would 15mm ducks look right alongside 28mm humans?  Are their weapons and armor too advanced for Glorantha?

    Enticing!

@Helliwell I sent reply message to your response on the Infinity-Engine form with details of what I'd like to order for the miniatures and the Strike Rank Tracker additional player sets.

One of my projects for the summer, now that I'm playing in Glorantha again, is to put together some miniatures. I was thinking mixing and matching parts from a few difference Victrix miniatures and/or Gripping Beast miniatures sprues to make "new style" Heortlings. So mix bits from ancient Greeks, romans and celts/vikings to make suitably barbaric warriors.

I did feel like the Byzantine spearmen from Fireforge miniatures might be a good source of bodies wearing scale armour. Mix and match those with various ancients parts and you should be able to make good Orlanthi weaponthanes.

Are any of those "perfect" for Glorantha? No, but with a bit of work to find the best bits and the right paint job I think they'd look pretty good.

There's generally nothing much in historical ranges for female characters, unfortunately. Bad Squiddo Miniatures have a good range of shieldmaidens - yes, Vikings are out of period, for Orlanthi now, but some of them would still work. And they have a couple of Amazon types, too. Hasslefree miniatures have a few in their fantasy ranges that would fit right into Glorantha. A warning on that is that some of their range is NSFW because of being in the nuddy.

They're totally ahistorical and out of period, but with a mix and match of the right parts, some of the female fantasy warriors for Frostgrave from Northstar miniatures might work as Heortlings in winter gear. Their cultists and a few monsters and other bits could work quite well for Glorantha stuff, too.

And Bronze Age miniatures have some nice, erm, Bronze Age types.

One thing that is always VERY good to see from the people who have licences to make miniatures is when they make things that you can't source elsewhere. I would give my right arm for some good models of high llamas, for example.

I've been away from work this week, and my delivery address for the dragonewts kickstarter was my work address. I'm hoping mine might be there waiting for me on Monday to soften the blow of having to be back at work. 😀

I have a similar project @Cultist of Sooty to build up a set of Glorantha miniatures for my upcoming RQG campaign. The links provided are very helpful. It's unfortunate that there are very few female character miniatures, and especially any that could resemble Gloranthan cultures such Sartarites, Praxians, and especially Esrolians. I'd love to find some miniatures to represent the urban locales of Esrolia or Lunar Tarsh.

Perhaps the current Runequest miniature licensee holders would be interested in producing more female Gloranthan characters, with a priority on the Esrolians and Lunar Tarshites.

  13. @BalazarLightson Thanks for sharing your experience with running The Broken Tower. I too plan to proceed to the scenarios in the GM kit once the group has completed The Broken Tower, and determine who liked RQG and is committed to playing in an ongoing campaign.

Hi there @borbetomagnus - I've no idea why your email wasn't actioned, but I've sent Richard a text to let him know to contact you.  I suspect something isn't quite right with the contact form as he's usually quite good at responding (and he's still alive as of yesterday, so no excuses there... )

(and thank you @David Scott for the nudge .. Minion? Pah, I'm The Power Behind The Throne mate... )

Hello, I’ve just been summoned from my sleep, sorry I did not see your email on the website, I’d been rushing around sorting orders out before I headed up to visit family this weekend, something I’ve put off for several months while I’ve been busy. I’ll get a proper email over to you on Monday, when I check the website messages, sorry about that.

    Thanks

    Richard

    Infinity-Engine

Thank you, both for replying to this thread. I suspected that the website contact form may not be operating as Issaries intended, and I'm thankful for @David Scott for mentioning nudging you on this discussion forum.

I look forward to hearing from you @Helliwell

I'd try again it's not like @Helliwell to not reply (he's one of my players). Or summon his minion @Stormwalker to do his bidding...

His figures look great, we have them in our game, but I'm biased.

I love the Strike Rank Tracker, I wish I'd had one years ago. It's the single thing that makes combat easy for me.

Although I've never used the Rune Biscuits (I was so disappointed when handed one at a con), we've realised they'd be really handy. One day I hope to try them.

The ivory coloured ones look best and less like biscuits:

Thanks @David Scott I'll contact @Helliwell or @Stormwalker this weekend if I've not heard back from the email that was sent via the contact form.

I planning to purchase the Strike Rank Tracker with a few extra player sets since I plan on having up to 10 players. The Rune Biscuits look great and I'm planning to purchase a set of the Ivory ones since they look better than the biscuit ones. Maybe the biscuit ones could be stained with a red dot in the middle to make them look like Gloranthan Jammie Dodgers! 😀

Thanks for the Lunars and Sartarite miniature suggestions from @SDLeary & @BWP

And, @Estarriol I'm looking forward to receiving the current figures and will be ordering the new ones you develop.
