  1. Five years of training for a basic riding horse sounds like… a lot?
  2. Cavalry horses are fine, that's no problem. But if we're talking what RQ means with a "warhorse", one that will fight as well, then you're going to be much better off with a stallion.
  3. Various delays, self-quarantining and other adventuring in between, so not done yet. I think it will be the session after next now (next session is the Great Hunt with Lunar shenanigans)!
  4. Or even defensive ritual days. "Long ago there was the day when it rained black blood, and a seer told us the right rituals to repel it. Now we perform the ritual every year - no-one wants to take any chances. Would you want to be the one responsible for calling it off?"
  5. You may end up where you were going as often as half the time!
  6. Bless Animals is interesting here - it guarantees offspring and 90% chance of female. Presumably this last bit is an advantage in most cases where it will be used, but if you’re raising warhorses, it could potentially be a negative - you want those stallions, after all.
  7. That's from Storm Tribe. David Gordon and Greg Stafford listed as authors for Yinkin.
  8. I super like all the special days in HW/HQ publications like Thunder Rebels, Storm Tribe and Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes. They're so flavorful! Just an example, that day the Odaylans go fishing and then see who can lie the best/worst about past catches. Or how the Ancestors go around visiting homes on Ancestor Day, grumbling about how people these days just can't maintain proper standards any longer.
  9. You misspelled "scorpionmen". It really works! 🙂
  10. I think this is good. You can become a different Gloranthan race through magic - just look at Arkat - but it's presumably more difficult that way.
  11. Quick version with reference here: https://glorantha.fandom.com/wiki/Cleansed_One The Simon Phipp interpretation here (so don't be surprised about his signature acid): http://www.soltakss.com/hquest03.html
  12. Presumably, a cleansed Broo is still a Broo, but can now resist the urges (and hopefully will). Becoming a non-Broo - like back to what original goat-people they were - seems like it would be far harder still.
  13. Outside of Broo, I really like K'rana from Lords of Terror, a scorpion(wo)man queen Sword of Humakt who certainly remembers her past, has aspirations (unfortunately difficult to achieve) of improving the life of her people, melancholia about her lost relatives, honor of a malleable kind, and so on. She's clearly a person and a a moral subject, even if the same might not apply to a barely-sentient feral Brooling.
  14. Apologies for the thread-drift, but is there any information about what these were, apart from Wowander's Raid?
  15. Tolkien had this exact problem with orcs. If orcs have (something akin to - they are still partially mentally dominated) free will and are people and in principle redeemable, then you may still have to fight them at times, but something like Gimli’s and Legolas’s kill count contest starts to look a bit unpalatable as something you probably shouldn’t relish in. But if they don’t have free will, that means Morgoth managed to essentially take away the souls and chances of redemption of whoever he corrupted into them, and not only is that a theological problem for Tolkien, it also goes against how orcs demonstrably have personalities and (admittedly vile) personal goals. He never managed to sort it out to his satisfaction - it gets all tangled up in the problem of evil.
  16. The captors of a philosopher should have to pay to be allowed to return him!
  17. Yes, Eurmal, the Friend of Men. Guide 215f, 227. Fire-bringing seems to be part of it. Eurmal as Guide sounds more like a Lightbringer aspect, though?
  18. Same here - how do they make a living? Especially in a clan setting, you can only do that much scamming and minor theft. Maybe stickpicking, but do they really have the attention span? I have a (counter-canonical) idea that there might be "lay-member clowns" - you work your farm all day long until you don the clown costume for a holy day as a welcome way to vent steam/enjoy yourself/perform an important religious function. Then back to the farm afterwards it is.
  19. Those are going to be particularly hard to pick out from all the non-Eurmali random troublemakers and miscellaneous weirdoes. Excellent cover!
  20. Ah, I thought it was 5000. But even so... more than 1% of the population are tricksters, in a setting where social control is probably kinda lax compared to in a clan. I can't see anything going wrong here!
  21. I'm not sure where I read it, but I believe you get into the tribe/flock, but don't get a Telmor connection or full shapechanging. (Presumably you could through heroquesting, but that's another matter.)
  22. Telmori have adoption rites as well.
  23. One person in thirty is a trickster? You're not going to have many boring days there, that's for certain!
  24. I give you the Bear-Dog (Amphicyonidae). Which, by the way, is one of my too many speculations about the Wolfbear.
