  1. Yes, I agree that there are many reasons to worship gods as an initiate, but for some reason very few NPCs do it, even when it doesn't increase their taxes or decrease their survival rate. And very few people can afford to pay to get Runespells cast on their fields or family, since they cost 20L per point. Of course the tables aren't meant to be a game engine (or the World Engine if you will) that simulates how the world works, but instead their purpose is to be a tool for the GM to spice up the PCs non-murder-hobo life.
  2. Studies say that only people who have watched black and white tv sometimes do this.
  3. I think that it's done with a PHP function, so it needs to be coded. If you move your pointer on the arrow at the top right corner of a quote, you'll see the command that's passed to the server, ie. find the correct post in the correct thread. And if you move your pointer over someone's av, you'll see their user id. Using the thread and user ids you could make a button that shows a specific users posts in a specific thread. Most of the threads here are quite short, but there have been a few times when I've wanted to use it.
  4. Some forums have a feature where there is a button under posters' av that can be clicked to show all their posts in the thread you're reading. Would it be possible to get that feature in here too?
  5. I cooked up a homebrewed rule for smaller wyters: just use the random spirit table in the Bestiary. You can even keep the d100 numbers on the left, but convert them to the number of worshippers: #W POW CHA 1-10 d6 d3 11-20 2d6 d6 21-35 3d6 2d6 36-49 3d6+6 3d6
  6. They are very evocative and dynamic. They look lively because they resemble animation stills where some features are exaggerated to make the animation look smoother.
  7. Of course if you want an in-game explanation why pcs need such high skills to support their household, it's because they experiment more and therefore gain more experience checks, and because they are murder-hoboing around the countryside too.
  8. I did the math on this, and got 73%. x=skill/100 income after taxes=80%=0.8 chance for a critical success=x/20 income multiplier for a critical success=2 chance for a special success=x/5-x/20 income multiplier for a special success=1.5 chance for a normal success=x-x/5 income multiplier for a normal success=1 chance for a failure=(1-x)-((1-x)/20) income multiplier for failure=0.5 chance for a fumble=(1-x)/20 income multiplier for fumble=-0.5 base income=80L free standard of living=60L (0.8( (x/20) * 2 + (x/5 - x/20) * 1.5 + (x - x/5) * 1 + ((1 - x) - (1 - x)/20) * 0.5) + (1-x)/20 * (-0.5)) * 80L ≥ 60L (you can copy paste that on https://www.wolframalpha.com) But since RQ rounds up criticals and specials and rounds down fumbles, the needed skill is slightly lower. And you are as likely to get good and bad omens, so they cancel each other. The harvest results give you on average a -0.75% to your skill, but since on average the previous year's harvest results give some small bonus, they likely cancel each other. So to get the expected living you need to be an upper level Professional: Professional (51–75%): At this rating, the adventurer can make a living using the skill. If you want to houserule that lower level professionals should also on average earn their expected living standard, you could make eg. the normal success have 1.2 income multiplier, and the failure have 0.6 income multiplier. Then you'd earn free living standard with a skill of 54%.
  9. Pol-Joni, since they have such tiny horses.
  10. Yeah, I've also been thinking lately about wyters who have worshippers below the 50 people limit. Wolf pirate penteconters can get 50 worshippers with full crew, but what happens if they get casualties? Does the Wyter become inactive? Wink out of existence? Continue as normal? Maybe I'll post about it in the official rules questions thread.
  11. A very Gloranthan-feel Vice video about Blood sacrifice in Indonesia:
  12. Page 275 in the rules book: At the gamemaster’s discretion, an initiate can gain access to the cult’s special Rune spells in return for exceptional service to the cult, by donating the equivalent of 100 L per point of the spell, or for other reasons that further the cult’s goals and standing. The rules don't specify how long it takes to sacrifice the needed POW to the worshipper's god, only that it must be done in a large enough temple. And they also don't specify when you can sacrifice the POW. In the earlier edition the sacrificing could be done whenever, and it took a week per point, but the latter part doesn't seem to be the rule anymore.
  13. What's that thing in his top right hand that looks like two Mastery runes?
  14. Can the White Bear still grant magic to his worshippers? Did the cult function as a spirit cult that gave shapechanging spells like Odayla?
  15. I'd prefer an even more precise name of Gods and Goddesses of Genertela between West and East plus Ygg and Elder races' Gods and Goddeses, or GaGoGbWaEpYaErGaG.
  16. At some point you just start to accept that in Glorantha and RuneQuest there are conflicting ideas that are true at the same time while they can't both be true at the same time. When you reach that point you are Enlightened.
  17. I think that every man having the Thunderbolt spell is quite efficient already.
  18. I asked a similar question in the official rules thread: But as you've noticed, all clanmembers with stats, the militia (ie. most of the men) included, are initiates of specific cults that grant Rune Magic. The way I've handled this is that I've followed the intentions the writers have posted on the forums here, and not what has been printed in adventure books.
