  1. I agree. I’d have to check for specifics but Decipher did a pretty good job at this. There were different level of fatigue and, if my memory serves me well, if you missed a roll, your fatigue level got worse (penalizing you both in movement and skills’ checks). We could do the same about RuneQuest, on a nutshell that could around those lines: Winded: -1 movement, -10% to appropriate skill check Tired: -2 movement, -25 to appropriate skill check Exhausted: movement and appropriate skill checks halved To shift from one state to another (for instance Fresh -no penalty-) to the next (Winded) you will have to fail at a CONxX (usually 5) roll. It’s a first draft but the idea is: let’s keep it simple.
  2. In rural medieval societies (not sure about the ancient era) they had the price for blood: you committed a crime you were to give money to the offended party. If it was really serious you could be beaten, killed or exiled. But putting offenders in jail, in western countries, is pretty recent I believe.
  3. Fatigue points (FP) in RQIII used to be STR + CON - ENC. Each melee round you would lose 1 FP and when into the negatives it would be used as a penalty (for attack rolls most notably). Most groups never used these rules, we certainly didn't ^^
  4. That's an interesting topic If you attacked someone (or someone attacked you) then it is resolved through ransom. If you escape, the ransoming party will complain against your clan/tribe. It's a matter of honor but it's also a matter of civilization. A lot of comments are about how could we prevent dangerous PCs or NPCs (especially those loaded with magic) from escaping? That is not the point IMO, the point is what happens if they do and their clans rejoiced at this? It would be Chaos: no one would take hostages any longer, it would be an endless cycle of killing and revenge. The ransom legal system is about avoiding this, it's about having a more civilized society. If you lose to the Greydogs your family, your temple and your clan leader will pay (then you will owe them but it's called Loyalty). Okay, maybe you are planning a rematch but you won't be planning on killing anybody, you'll plan to take another hostage to get even; and even if it sets a cycle hostage ransoms this is manageable (as opposed to a killing spree). This being said, alright you escape with your powerful magic. What happens when the Greydogs complain? You dishonored your family, your Temple (therefore your gods), your tribe, your clan. Are you better off? Far from it.
  5. I think I would have halved anything related to movement (it's easier). But this would be for a temporary penalty, for a more permanent one a -20 sounds about fair. I wouldn't do anything about STR or DEX though, I'd just got along with the -20 when the resistance is used and it is suited.
  6. There are probably some exceptions but, in a nutshell, ^^
  7. I voted for scenarios because it's very important for GMs but, thinking about it, campaign and cultural contents are great too. I don't care much about non gloranthan content. At the end of the day, I'm thrilled with how Chaosium is dealing with RuneQuest.
  8. As I understand it, the general rule Rune magic is compatible with similar spells, Spirit magic is not.
  9. Both are basically BRP derivatives so highly compatible. If you want to insert CoC chase rules into RQG for instance, you easily can. Still, as everybody underlined, you'll have many rules' adaptations (no Luck points but Runes and Passions, a dangerous combat system but healing magic, etc.)
  10. Those are quite readable to me, the big map is a bit more challenging (but so gorgeous)
  11. I will concur, it's permanent, but I generally have a house rule according to which it has to be cast again during the sacred time.
  12. Moving earth, able to take the shape it wants (but still looking like earth) though I like the human/serpent look the bestiary gives them and I might use it on occasion.
  13. Useful tips it's even more epic/
  14. I think I won't use those either, I'll try to go more freeform (combat is a mess anyway), I'll just use miniatures to picture where everybody is roughly.
  15. Magic is spectacular in RQG and Rune magic even more so, I let my players describe their spell's effects but as a rule of the thumb there is no such thing as covert magic.
  16. This is really big, everything we need to play in the default setting, including Lunars and Chaos cults ^^
  17. I'm just scared about my artistic skills or lack thereof
  18. I used to then we moved to the Storytelling system and I gave them up. Now I'd like to use them again in RQ in Cthulhu and maybe even in Vampire 5th edition. The painting though ... ^^
