  1. To initiate a Divine Intervention you must first sacrifice a permanent Rune Point, then you roll the dice (usually 1D100). If it succeeds the God answers, then the Power is lost (Rune Points are lost first in the case of a Rune Priest) if the Power left is 0 the Initiate/Rune Priest dies. In any case, the Power loss is permanent (but you can raise your Power through experience as usual). So, indeed the RP is lost whether the DI succeeds or not but, should it succeeds the Power loss is permanent too.
  2. You can totally do that, maybe there is some portal leading to Glorantha, maybe the primordial Chaos are Lovecraftian entities like Azathoth, maybe Nyarlathotep is trying to free Chaos in Glorantha (to affect Earth as well?), he's been masquerading as Nysalor and Lankhor Mhy only knows how many others (a disturbing option would be Eurmal). You may want your PCs to know a spell allowing them to travel to Glorantha and back to Earth (through a ritual possibly only during the sacred day of Nysalor/Gbaji to prevent abuses) Then you will be able to do scenarios in both Cthulhu and Glorantha, hopefully, opening your player's minds to playing RuneQuest "for real" ^^
  3. It's beside the point 0 is 0 even if it's sometimes treated as a 10. Actually, it's only treated as a 10 in one occurrence 00 followed by 0. 00, its treated as 0 if accompanied by anything but a 0 and the simple 0 is considered a 0 unless we are rolling for damage. But, in any case, when you add up the two opposites sides of a D10 you come up with 9, except in the Cthulhu dice. Not that this would be a problem, but I found it fun to mention. Edit: upon closer inspection: this is true for RuneQuest dice as well (maybe it's a thing for dedicated dice in general)

    Vishi Dunn

If he is disappointed why not let him create a new character more to his liking? Vishi Dunn is a good character but, as a shaman assistant, he is indeed not very combat oriented.
  5. I remember in the late 90s a lot of RPG books were printed in Canada and in the early 90s, Vampire the Masquerade first edition was printed in the USA. Now they are printed in China, obviously because it's cheaper and you are right, this is raising some issues, from dependency to cutting jobs to pollution. But we don't choose the world we live in, it's a matter of international economic policy (if there is such a thing ^^) way beyond our grasp and the grasp of Chaosium.
  6. If you type Nairobi population 1920, you come up with: "The population of Nairobi grew rapidly and reached a total of 5,000 people in 1902, expanding further to 16,000 in 1910 and 23,000 in 1920." Source: World bank group I would agree with Jeffjerwin: prior to the internet it was difficult to dig up precise information and since Nairobi was growing so rapidly they probably extrapolated data from 1900.
  7. I'm referring to the glow in the dark dice set and only to the D10 (but maybe this true for other official CoC dice set too). The other dice from the set are "normal": the D12 comes up with 13, the D8 with 9 and the D20 with 21.
  8. Just out of curiosity, do you wish to bring all Glorantha into the Dreamlands, just part of it, a bleaker version of it?
  9. I don't know if this has been brought up yet. Anyway, I just bought some Cthulhu dice and something struck me: normally when you add up the two opposite sides of a die it comes up with the equivalent of the lower result plus the highest result (on a D6 that would be 1+6=7, so the opposite side of a 5 would be 2, the opposite side of a 4 would be 3 etc.). Not on the Cthulhu D10 dice: you add up the opposite sides and you come up with an 11 instead of 9. It seems that they thought the Elder Sign was replacing a 10 and not a 0. The other dice are regular but not the D10s. I know, too much time on my hands ^^
  10. If you take the RQ3 version, don't forget that it is a touch spell, nothing prevents your player from casting this variable spell on the opponent's metal armor, dealing 1D6 damage per "level". In this case, the damage will be dealt each round until the armor is removed.
  11. The Black Fang Brotherhood (p378 core book) could be a good choice too. As for occupation, Thief or Warrior are obvious choices but almost any occupation could do since anyone could seek vengeance upon something/someone.
  12. Excellent, thanks I need to include this website to my favorites. Edit: there are a few things for RuneQuest there ^^I ordered the broken tower set and the sampler set. While I was at it, I thought, the runes tokens and a strike rank track wouldn't hurt either. Really a good website, I recommend it
  13. Lord, I missed the broken tower miniatures Kickstarter. Any chance I could still get my paws on those? ^^

Welcome onboard About your second question: it depends. If you run the adventure as written it can be done in a single session (one evening). But if you introduce the PCs to their environment, let them interact with each other, with the town's people, with major NPCs, if they are chatty with Carthalo (the hermit) and, on a more general ground, if they don't rush the scenario, that could take an extra session.
  15. I understood the same thing but I have no clue about when it's going to be released.
  16. And Darkness at Runegate sounds really interesting. I checked out on the web to have the summary of a session and I love it already.
  17. So it's all coming at the same time excellent And it's soon ... even better ^^

    Thank you

You’re doing a great job. As far as physical books has been released we only have the core book, but we have the quick starter scenario (1), the Applelane scenarios (3), the Borderland scenarios (ok, it’s for classic 2nd edition RuneQuest but still easily adapted to RQG) : at the end of the day, we are having 11 scenarios and still waiting for the GM screen. I am delighted: at last a roleplaying game company that understands that RPGs are about playing and releasing scenarios. I’m coming (from RuneQuest of course but also from) Vampire the Requiem and, I can tell you that it’s not a given (and Lord knows I love Vampire). So that’s just a little post to tell you that your efforts are not being under appreciated unto me (and probably unto us all). Long live RuneQuest
  19. Eurmal is a difficult cult to grasp: thieves, assassins, pranksters. They are disruptive and sometimes dangerous yet, Eurmal was a Lightbringer (although an unusual one) and therefore, there is a Eurmal initiate in every Orlanthi council. They serve as buffoons in the medieval sense of the word (those who could make fun of the lord/king), nonetheless, contrary to their medieval counterparts they are sometimes also thieves and assassins. Quite difficult to grasp.
  20. It sounds like a good idea and I don't think there's anything preventing a smuggler from being an initiate of the river cult (Engizi has not been developed a lot as far as I know). The rat is a nice touch ^^
  21. I think sci-fi would be too much for them (and sci-fi universes are often not easy to get into). So I'm more with Cthulhu or Vampire (easily described for a first scenario) or RuneQuest (easily described if you start small and say: Celtic culture but the gods exist and then describe the area. I asked them about their favorite genres but, right now, they are more intrigued about RPGs in general than about anything else ^^
  22. So I should start with the quickstarter?
  23. Welcome on board. Concerning the cool things, classics revisited: say Aldryam,i not Elves, say Uz, not Trolls, Mostalli , not Dwarves. Plus, the lunar empire, the Crimson bat and so many legends and cultures. You'll love it.
