  1. It's not clear to me that spirits cannot reproduce in some fashion, so I wouldn't rule that out. The Broo race, for example can implant not only a larval Broo but IIRC the "seed" or "egg" of a disease-spirit (or indeed a full-blown disease spirit; but that's not to the point of this issue). I would also posit that a powerful-enough disease spirit could "spread" to infect (for example) everyone in the same hut, then a small cluster of huts, then a whole village. It might become TWO disease-spirits if one of the victims wandered far enough away, a sort of POWrthogenesis. And to the OP's "water/sanitation" point... once water is fouled (whether in germ theory or disease-spirit theory), it might spread in trickles or leaks or droplets or etc etc etc.
  2. The parallels are striking! Thank you.
  3. Rune tattoos are common, as foci & other spell linkages, or just as a loud&proud statement of allegiance. I would presume that when casting they would glow, shimmer, float off the body, seem to be (or reallly be) the origin of the magic, etc etc etc. Not that any of this would make a difference to the spell-effect, or have any game-mechanical impact (other than the "oh shit" moment when the ENTIRE group of foes suddenly pegs ONE caster as a bigger threat than the rest of the party ... ) Dragonwing tattoos might we'll have a similar occurrence for a character with Draconic links/affiliations/aspirations/etc.
  4. Cult Compendium in $60 hardback (not the cheaper softcover) may still be had from at least some of their warehouses .... I see it in the USA. WHOOPS, no I do not, sorry!!! No "Add to cart" button. 😞
  5. Mine is also now in Des Moines, according to the online tracker: Arrived at USPS Regional Origin FacilityUSPS DES MOINES IA NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER Somewhat worryingly, Chaosium still reports my single copy as: This order is marked as Partially Shipped Humakt's power of Separation comes to mind...
  6. With such a large order (that is, all the copies of RQG ordered) it can be a bit indeterminate. If it were a singular order, I'm sure it'd be same-day / next-day; but with THOUSANDS of ordered books, it just takes the warehouse folks time to do each package. As one of the RQClassic backers of that Kickstarter, I can report it was almost a week from when the first folks reported they were seeing e-mails of "shipping status" and "tracking numbers" and all that jazz, until I myself got first notice. For RQG, I think it was 3 business days ...
  7. Have you seen THIS submissions page? Or THAT one? Chaosium also has the DTRPG-partnered "Miskatonic Repository" for Call of Cthulhu fan/etc content. They have stated that they are looking at the "MR" endeavor with an eye toward a similar RQG project, but I don't think they have yet announced whether it will or won't actually happen.
  8. I'm amused. Are you amused? Or does the realization that YOUR book likely passed within a few miles of your home (en route to Des Moines 200ish miles away) blunt your laughter ...? I am also ENCOURAGED -- Your "partially shipped" yesterday is today's en route! And today MINE is "partially shipped ..." Yay? 😉 🤩 😍
  9. I could see the merging of spells from separate runepools being a nice side-benefit of Issaries: if the merchant has spell-traded for two spells that COULD be cast together IF they came from the same runepools, then by virtue of passing thru Issaries' remit they CAN be cast together. Including if Issaries sells the combo onward to another customer. YGMV
  10. ... And embarrassingly, the conquered subject-kingdom of the matriarchal Lunar Empire! They try to ignore this inconvenient fact. Mostly they don't succeed. Couldn't have happened to a nicer lot!
  11. There is a LOT of RQ2 & RQ3 content available, if you are willing to do the (relatively minor) work of converting them; mainly, IIRC, that's adding RuneAffinities, Passions, & maybe a few backgrounds for key/major NPC's. Where do you WANT to take your campaign? Where do your players want to take it?

    The Sea Cave

I would probably buy them, too. Most likely as OSR pdf's -- as cheap as I can get them -- because I don't find lasting value (warranting hardcopy) in purely adventure/module products. At this point, I'd think Chaosium would do well to wait for the RQG orders to stop rolling in so fast, then use THOSE orders to send a little survey (maybe offer $1 Store Credit?) asking about the products vs OSR version; AND send a parallel survey to the RQClassic backers, asking about interest in the OSR product vs the NewShiny RQG variant. Then decide which/both/neither is worth doing ...

    The Sea Cave

Most people use it as "Old School Revival." The main attention is usually around D&D retroclones of rules from the pre-AD&D1e era. We here in BRP'dom have an alternate rule-set from that era! 😉 I presume there are other niches of "OSR" too...
  14. Not me (also USA) -- still "awaiting shipping." IIRC, it took almost a week for Bang to clear all the orders of RQClassic Kickstarter. I have no info about how the RQG numbers stack up, but I presume they are (at least) as numerous as the KS orders. So the orders are flowing, but it may take a while...

    Necromancy

My gut says that the de-Moorcock'ed MW nevertheless has a bunch of that heritage in it, and the best way to vary from those tropes is to vary within the well-known BRP parameters. Sure - play with POW costs. Doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing thing, though... NickJ has some good ideas. Also non-linear costs, where every doubling of POW gives 5X or 10X the undead. Or grab some Superworld-scale effects -- what would an army of 100 mindless & absolutely-obedient minions cost in SW? 25,000 of them? Etc...
  16. But the "Head of Vecna" was unloaded. 😈
  17. IIRC, the Bestiary was (at least at one point) going to have support for Telmori PC's; I'm away from where I have that PDF, so I can't check to see if it does or not. As Jeorg notes, the "Chaos Taint" might paint them up with great big targets for big parts of the setting; Storm Bulls, in particular, with their "Sense Chaos," might be all kinds of problematic; and even some of the PC's may have good reason to hate werewolves. N.B. there ARE other shapeshifter types (non-chaotic) that might be of interest? Alynx/shadowcat (via Yinkin) & bear (via Odayla), iirc. I believe the Basmoli of Prax are separated from their Lion-God (and have thus lost shape-shifting in canon (?)) ... Have the Hsunchen tribes have been detailed yet in RQG ... ? There ARE necromancers, of various sorts. Many are Chaotic: the mixing of the living and the dead is one of the great horrors of Chaos. Again, this sort of Chaos is liable to cause PC-vs-PC fighting, and get all sorts of hostile attention from Chaos-Foes. Even non-Chaotic necromancy, however, gets a special hate-on from Humakt, whose followers are among the most-feared warriors of Glorantha. Humakt is a main Death-god; not evil but stern and rather absolute in his "thou shalt not..." edicts regarding any sort of undeath; dead means DEAD says Humakt, and enforces with extreme prejudice. Of course, all these conflicts have their upside for the GM -- ready-made foes & stories! I note a certain risky irony in the scribe-type who uses lots of fire magic. I imagine s/he isn't popular in libraries... The Lightbringer (Orlanth/Sartar) god Lhankor Mhy would be a likely choice. The corresponding Lunar god is Irrippi Ontor. Gloranthan magic comes in 3 main varieties - common Battle Magic, divine Rune Magic, & knowledge-based Sorcery. A "pyromancer" would likely either use Sorcery or Sky/Fire Rune spells (I mean, the Sorceror would likely use the Fire/Sky rune, too; but not via a god). But the fire/sky element leads to another option: the Yelm/Elmal (Sun-God) cults, and the ancient Solar-centric Dara Happan culture (now under Lunar sway, but still with lots of Solar influences). Dara Happans have a HUGE written tradition, so scribes are a Big Thing there. There is another notion worth considering -- the Shaman. A keeper of lore&tradition (who could arguably have a "chronicler" bent) and intercessor with the spirit-world; they have lots of sprits & spirit-magic. If s/he binds a lot of fire-spirits (e.g. to keep them from doing damage), he'll have a lot of fire magic available. Over in Prax, there are lots of Shamans, and Oakfed the god of wildfires is hard to control (and fires are a huge risk) so a "firefighter-shaman" might come from there... Edit - thoroughly ninja'ed by other/faster forum-posters!
  18. Nevertheless... those fulfillment-centers had better get cracking, lest we cry havoc, and let slip the whingeing fanboiz! 😉
  19. Classic "ygmv" territory. It certainly holds up as well as other mostly-linguistic arguments I've seen embraced by the Grognardia. Decide the truth-vs-coincidence factor as seems most-fun to you; or ... hint at it, let the players investigate or not, and let player action/interest determine what is "true." 😎
  20. It's not so much "wacky" as different; alien. Dragonewts can seem "wacky" or "brave" or "cowardly" without actually BEING any of those things -- their decision-making process, and the criteria upon which they decide how to act, are outside human ken. There is a hint of Buddhism there, in the ideas of "right action" and "wrong action" and the (hopefully advancing) cycles, etc. I see where you get the "Asian Martial Arts" vibe from! Add in some incomprehensible motivations and methods... and ROCK that scaly mofo!
  21. This is IMHO one of the great flaws in Glorantha as a setting: Player cames up with a great idea, but it's based on a non-Gloranthan POV, so experts say "no." This is valid -- the experts are right -- but it's VERY discouraging for a player! How close can we get to the PC-concept, while being not-absolutely-outside-any-chance-of-being-canon?
  22. Please, please PLEASE @Jason Durall-- -- please "accidentally" leave this one in the final print-ready file !!! 😁
  23. I don't believe in any of that stuff. Nevertheless, I do not absolutely deny that it might exist. 🤡
  24. That may just be enough of a collectible item that you can realize the cost of "a full set of polyhedra dice" from e-bay or some such... You may find info via NobleKnight ot WaynesBooks or the like; or acaeum.com ...
