  1. A great example of what a proper Chalana Arroy should do! And extremely brave as well - with a good GM, they are definitely not for the faint hearted.
  2. I'm with @PhilHibbs on this one, only more so. Not acceptable. This is not to say that a CA would never do it, they are "human" after all, but it is doctrinally wrong.
  3. Interesting thread so far. I lean towards not using Devotion as an augment for or alternative to D.I. It is already an extremely important skill - just ask my Wind Lord wannabee who has been stuck at 85% Devotion Vinga for over a year real-time and Glorantha time. In a way, it already factors in to D.I. due to the Devotion requirements for Rune Levels.
  4. This is probably what should happen. However, as pointed out by @Effthe example in the rules explicitly contradicts you. The best description of the Lie spell comes from a long time RQ friend. "The Lie spell has never not been broken". Just with RQG it happens more often.
  5. Given that Argrath is following the "cheap expedited conveyor belt illumination" for thousands of his special units, the Hero Wars will prove interesting.
  6. We haven't needed DI yet. When we do I will try to remember this idea and make up some mechanic.
  7. "Memorable", perhaps. But do you feel it was good for resolving the scenario? I guess I'm weird, but I keep reading replays of other group's sessions where "the PCs crit on Round 1 and won", which strike me as extremely unsatisfactory. The battles I find memorable are close fought affairs lasting many rounds with increasing tension and danger. YMMV.
  8. This is fairly "historically realistic". But 1H Spear seems extremely lame as a RQG weapon. How does it work out in your games?
  9. An emergency dagger is fine when your main weapon goes. My PC carries two (never had to use them yet). This is definitely not what the other two posters were talking about. They described switching from spear to sword, and another going through weapons in "descending order of proficiency".
  10. I don't really buy the multiplew eapons excuses. @Dragonwhy didn't your Storm Khan just carry two spears? @Kloster same, just carry two of the same weapon. My Orlanthi carries two broadswords, not one sword and one something else I want checks for. Lance and Missile Weapons excepted. There are valid reasons to use them, and switch mid battle.
  11. This was a great rules addition to RQG to help counterbalance check grubbing.
  12. There are a few flaws in the BRP / Runequest system, and Check grubbing is one of the worst. I have lost a lot of respect for the posters here that encourage it.
  13. Many years ago, I was GM, and Ray Turney successfully cast Disruption to try to get his character a POW check. At the end of the session, I took it away. Why? He never bothered to roll damage! He laughed and agreed with me. 🙂
  14. True. Personally, I'm starting to really dislike the concept that shamen can easily learn any spirit magic spell they want for free.
  15. Between unclear wording and "how does this actually work", and no POW v POW roll, we've decided this works on spirits only. Note that elementals would qualify as a "corporeal" spirit and are a valid target . Also, acquiring this spell is not at all easy. Few cults teach it.
  16. So, I'm wondering, what happened when a PC lost a limb to a big hit? They were just out of it until the party returned to civilization, then out for weeks while Regrow Limb took effect? Our group was Yelmalians, who fought a lot of trolls, who could do big damage. And we were out in the boonies a lot, so perhaps we had to rely on ourselves more than those in other campaigns.
  17. In RQ2, it was vital that at least two PCs knew Heal 6. In RQG, most of our PCs just have Heal 2 or nothing, and rely on Heal Wound for healing big damage.
  18. This really should have been noted in your original question. Really.
  19. Good point. In such a group, I would expect the PCs to be more cautious in the use of their rune points. Especially since they are far from their normal temples and "support".
  20. You are most certainly the only person to ever make a mistake on these forums. 🙂 Make sure your players know - they might be more willing to use their Rune Magic.
  21. Not sure what you mean by "RP gains". A initiate of Humakt can recover used rune points six times a year, including Sacred Time. An initiate of Orlanth nine times a season.
  22. Sacred time is, arguably, a "season" too. So there! 🙂 My point is that members of relatively "mainstream" cults, such as Lightbringers, might not want to waste Rune Points on trivial matters, but they need not "hoard" them, as there are many many chances to recover a few rune points. Depends on campaign styles of course.
  23. I lost you at "the holy day". An Orlanthi can recover a modest D6 rune points during the seasonal holy days of 9 other associate cults. Ernalda, also 9. Chalana Arroy has 7 associates, Issaries 4, not too bad. My Vinga worshipper has used Ernalda, CA, or Eurmal holy days more often than she has the Orlanth one! Now, Humakti, you're just screwed. Better make it to your seasonal holy day.
  24. 1. Which version...? RQG 2. How long...? 2 Years 3. What time period? 1625, now entering 1627 4. Where in Glorantha did you start? Sartar What regions has your campaign covered since? Sartar & Prax 5. Where are your pcs from? Mainly Sartar-Colymar-Taraling, with fraternal twins (brother and sister) and a cousin. Two twin sisters from Boldhome. Plus the pregen Sorala 6. What products have you used? Which were particularly useful? Many, most of them. If forced to be more specific, I enjoyed Duel at Dangerford, and was least happy with Smoking Ruins. YMMV. 7. Is it a sandbox or more plot led campaign? More plot lead, but some sandbox. We want the PCs to have major "agency". 8. How much have you followed the arching events...? So far we have largely followed the official Hero Wars plotline, and, as emissaries from Leika, we travelled to Pavis to meet with Argrath. But I'm pretty sure that there will be significant deviations soon. Which, according to Greg and Jeff, is what you are supposed to do to spare Glorantha from the worst excesses of Argrath. Just for starters: Elusu is a scumbag. Jaldon is a barbarian tyrant apparently modeled on Pol Pot,. Some of us like our cities. Harrek ain't so great either... Not sure how we will feel about wiping out the Telmori There's chemistry between my PC and Annstad of Dunstop. And, er, blushes, some buns in the oven. Shockingly, none of our PCs are mentioned as great heroes in the source material. This must change! 9. How would you describe your campaign? Emphasis on roleplaying, puzzle solving, and wargaming. Not much storytelling. Or, where the GM does try storytelling, some of us doze off. 🙂 10. What advice would you give newbie gms to runequest and glorantha? You will absolutely have to make things up, either how the rules work or how Glorantha works. Get used to it, don't fret, and enjoy it.
