el_octogono Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 I've been searching for a stellar map to help me locate and show my players the different stars and system locations. I found a nice interactive map at: https://stars.chromeexperiments.com/ Also this (limited) 2d map has some of the inhabited systems in RoH: 1 2 Quote Check my Lobo Blanco - Elric RPG (now in english!)
ORtrail Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Interesting, it reminded me of playing No Man's Sky with the zoom and rotation. Quote
Michael Hopcroft Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 How many of those stars have habitable exoplanets (assuming there is such a thing, which I doubt)? Quote

This takes a couple of definitions of "habitable". Proxima Centauri B for instance lies in the habitable zone in times of normal brightness, but would be over-exposed to radiation during periods of signiicantly increased activity. However, presumably being tidally locked, the backside or the twilight zone of the planet might offer the temperature range we would deem habitable even in times of greater activity. If you mean habitable as in having a biosphere supporting an oxygen atmosphere, probably none. Having conditions where such a biosphere could be introduced, possibly a few. Allowing domed habitats without intensive thermal requirement - probably quite a few. Having a planetary magnet field to ward off cosmic radiation - hardly any. All of these at once? Probably similar to a jackpot in a lottery. 1 Quote Telling how it is excessive verbis
Frank Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Thank you for the map and the link. I've been looking for a good 3d map of the stellar neighbourhood for some time. And since I've yet to find any that works well for gaming purposes, I have resigned myself to using 2d maps. For RoH I used the map found here to create this: 1 1 Quote

sylvermoonkitten Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 The Old Game Universe by SPI had an awesome 3d HC map, and the TRI Tac game FTL 2448 has great list of real world close systems Quote

Unless TriTac has revised that list of systems, new instruments have rendered that list entirely obsolete! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_potentially_habitable_exoplanets https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_exoplanets Quote C'es ne pas un .sig
ORtrail Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 We'll all base our campaigns around exploring the Trappist-1 system and those seven exoplanets, so does it really matter? 😀 Quote
sylvermoonkitten Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Sorry HC is a hardcopy , and TRITAC has a real world list of stars, and a % solar system creation system . Quote
