Prince Valiant: any possibility of a reprint?

I recently found out there was a Prince Valiant RPG designed by none other than Greg Stafford. I’ve loved the comics for years. 
 

Any news at all of a reprint?

I don't think Chaosium has the rights anymore, and while they may be interested in reacquiring them it's not a high priority.

It will be available as part of this Kickstarter: Le Morte d'Arthur & The Arthurian Concordance:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1861515217/le-morte-darthur-and-the-arthurian-concordance/. It has not gone to backer kit yet, when it does, you can usually join again, so you may get lucky.

I'm definitely interested in The Arthurian Concordance.  I understand it's some sort of annotation to Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur, which I'd certainly enjoy reading.

I think that has changed. Remeber that the project was announced some years ago, by Stewart Wieck, who is sadly no longer with us. At the time he held the rights for both Pendragon and Prince Valiant, all of which has changed. The comments section do not look promising, and I fear this is probably a failed kickstarter.

Sorry David, but most of us hear anything about it in  four years. That'snot a good sing for a kickstarter. Has Chaosium managed to renew the license for Prince Valiant? The last posts from MOB and Rick Meints, in 2019, didn't indicate so. Also, any idea when the Concordance will be available?

The December backer update says otherwise. If you're not a backer then clearly you won't know (just like any other KS project).

I'm a backer, and I can thus share a few details that non-backers probably don't know.

The Graphic Novel and the Arthurian Concordance (now renamed "Arthurian Companion") in electronic format have already been sent to backers.
Two Kickstarter updates have been published in August and December 2023, and the December update included a tentative timeline for the print versions, and assurance that the project is alive and will be fulfilled.

Is this project in time? No. Is it one of the main priorities at Chaosium? Of course not. However, it has survived the deaths of its original publisher (Stewart Wieck) and of one of the authors and main proponents (Greg Stafford), and seems now to be close to completeness.

If you are interested in the Prince Valiant RPG specifically, it was offered (together with KAP 5.2) as an add-on at the time, so I suspect this part was fulfilled right then, when both books were available (i.e., backers who chose these add-ons have probably received them a few years ago), and of course the PVRPG will not be offered anymore, in any form, until (if) Chaosium renews its license.

Yes, he (being "someone who workd for Chaosium") probably knows something I don't. However, I think that Chaosium cannot offer PVRPG until it renews the license (unless they have some old copies remaining?), so until they say so, it's better to expect nothing in this regard.

Addresses will be locked when the books are ready to ship. So, again, I don't know whether orders will be re-opened at some future time, but maybe David knows this from some inside source!

I’m a Kickstarter backer of Morte D’Arthur who already received a physical copy of Prince Valiant some time ago. I would note that Prince Valiant was originally offered in a previous Kickstarter campaign - Paladin if I recall correctly. They may have had Prince Valiant offered as add-ons in the Morte D’Arthur but that was probably because they had backstiock to do this. The Morte D’Arthur campaign, however, is more than five years old now and Chaosium were not involved in it originally. 

As such, it is highly unlikely that you could get it via that campaign simply because, as others have pointed out, Chaosium do not have a license to it anymore. 

According to recent reports, like yesterday, Chaosium’s plans to print and deliver the Morte D’Arthur books is well on their way for some time in 2024. It’s been a while, but will be appreciated when they arrive.

You might be able to find a copy of the first edition on eBay, Amazon, etc. if you look. Just be careful not to overpay. Apparently 2nd edition is rarer. Good news is that both editions are functionally the same with 2nd edition having a different  layout and color illustrations.
