  1. I haven't seen anything, and have searched my archives without success.
  2. What stunted their growth? Too much smoking or self abuse?
  3. I suppose it makes sense in several ways: Smaller volumes are easier, and cheaper, to produce Smaller volumes are cheaper to buy, although the total amount might be more than 1 two-volume set could have sold at Multiple volumes allows GMs to pick and choose which pantheons they want, so someone not interested in the East of Glorantha, or tolls, wouldn't buy those volumes Chaosium don't need to hold up the entire project while waiting for certain artwork, if they have the artwork ready for one volume they can print that volume In any case, I'd probably use a PDF tool to combine the PDFs into one large file, depending on how big it is, for convenience.
  4. From the Red Book of Magic: Preserve Herbs keeps the picked plants at the same Potency, so they don't fade with time. Refine Medicine allows you to increase the Potency and change the Seasonal Potency or Usefulness Spider's head and Venom Boosting increase the Potency of poison as a raw material From the Book of Doom: Stabilize (Property) allows Mostali to work with and modify alchemical concoctions Yes, why not? Spells could be used to enhance these, especially if from a spirit/hero/deity that uses Alchemy. I don't think that spells are used to create potions, although there is no reason why a spell cannot create a potion. The code RQG rules uses the Alchemy skill. The Book of Doom has specialist Brew skills to make a potion, that can be boosted using Alchemy. In fact, this covers Alchemy in some detail, concentrating on the brewing of various concoctions rather than the mystical side of Alchemy.
  5. Any tool in the fight against Chaos. Also, using Chaos to kill Chaios reduces the amount of Chaos in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if Arkat used Chaos in the final battles.
  6. Well, they are not very near the coast, so probably the Giant ones.
  7. Yes, of course. Don't you know the myth of when Grandfather Elephant sniffed up Brother Snake?
  8. The Only Old One was born before Time but he probably isn't as old as some of the demigods mentioned.
  9. Well, there is, because the point of POW spent adds to the Rune Pool, and any increase in the Rune Pool allows an Adventurers to learn a new Runespell. p313-314 of the RQG Rules has this quote:
  10. People who remembered what was written in the Chalana Arroy cult and played that it was still true. People who had a wider view of Glorantha than that provided by the latest version of the rules. People who have seen cults butchered and then improved again by new rules coming out that did not mention skills and spells, then saw them added again. Those kinds of people.
  11. It used to be variable, lasting 1 melee rounds per point, so it lasted longer than Light did. Also, if you had a Spell Enhancer (I think, the one that boosted the number of points of variable spells) that would add to the points and, thereby, increase the duration. Now it's a 1 point spell it is only slightly better than Light.
  12. King of Sartar p120 says "Kallai Rockbuster raised the Colymar Tribe, the oldest and one of the least touched tribes, and sent a thousand howling warriors under the leadership of his son, Blackmoor the Rabid", so Blakmoor the Rabid seems to be one son.
  13. Hi musty hug them, thereby causing damage that is doubled.
  14. The Cult Compendium has "Light Sons never eat fish, potatoes, or raw eggs in any form" and "Members may partake of the Poor Fund at any time and find potato bread, onions, and red berries (when in season) to eat once per day there, and also be allowed to sleep under the roof of the Outer Temple" from the Yelmalio and Seven Mothers cults respectively, both canonical Pelorian cults.
  15. Yelmalio is a strong cult of Light. It can demoralise Vampires without a POW vs POW roll (Sunbright), can see in the dark (Catseye) and provides powerful light magic (Lantern). I was going to disagree, but on a second reading I agree. Minor Temples to Orlanth will have locally important shrines, but not all the Subcult shrines. Major Temples probably do and Great temples have even more shrines.
  16. Bolthor was a Talastari, not a Sartarite Exile. He was married to Monnie the Shrill, a Lunar priestess. Probably 1624, or maybe 1625.
  17. Sleep has never been freely available. However, if someone has only read the RQG Rules then I can see how they thought that it might be. Isn't that what I said? 🙂
  18. No, they are in Bilini/Talastar, specifically in the clan lands that were seized by Hakon the Swimmer and given to Lakrene. Oddi might have retained some lands near Lakrene. Thanks, I had missed that little nugget of information. That was just one of many Krarsht tunnels running from Dorastor.
  19. In m y opinion, yes, this is common knowledge. Probably, but they wouldn't know whether iron hurt them more. In my Glorantha it doesn't, as they are not Trolls. As Derak the Dark Troll used to say, "Twice nothing is nothing!" So, I play that they are uncomfortable touching iron but it doesn't damage them.
  20. Large Cults had Chief Priests/Priestesses who were subservient to the High priest but who were higher in rank than Priests/Priestesses. As the Jonstown Library is a Great Temple of Lhankor Mhy, with thousands of Initiates, you would expect a God-Talker for every 50 Initiates and a Priest for every 100 Initiates, so a Great Temple could have dozens of Priests. The Chief Priest/Priestess role effectively cuts down the number of Priests reporting directly to the High priest. So, Garangian Bronze-Guts is the High Priest of Lhankor Mhy at the Jonstown Temple and is Chief Librarian. Mata Min is a Chief Priestess and reports to Garangian Bronze-Guts, both as a Priestess and Librarian. According to the Starter Set description, although Mata Min is a Chief Priestess of the Jonstown Library, she doesn't particularly seem to be a Librarian, instead concentrating on magical training and evaluating treasure. So, Garangian Bronze-Guts seems to be in charge of the Jonstown Library, as a library. Interestingly, Jorjera Latish is the City Administrator and sits on the City Ring as the Lhankor Mhy representative, instead of Garangian Bronze-Guts. Jorjera Latish seems to be connected to the Library, being "a talented bureaucrat with a remarkable knack for finding the right scroll" and "Her knowledge of old clan and tribal disputes is second to none in the library". One interesting thing that the Scholar's Quarter has a brothel, 3 Taverns and an Inn. Compare that to the Upper City (2 Inns), Merchant's Quarter (2 Inns), Crafter's Quarter (2 Inns and 2 Taverns), and the Scholar's Quarter wins out. The Scholars must need their outlets to relieve the pressure of studying.
  21. It could be a cult-specific skill available nowhere else, or a normal skill that is taught by the spirit. For example, Swim is a standard skill, but people living in a desert would not know the skill. A Spirit cult could teach Swim and cultists could train Swim at waterholes. Another example is a rare Craft taught by the Spirit Cult, so worshipping Durev might allow cultists to learn Craft (Carpentry). Cult-specific skills could be Sense Assassin or Sense Chaos, which would not be taught by Humakt or Storm Bull, but instead are taught by the Spirit Cult instead.
  22. For our Secrets of Dorastor and Holiday Dorastor supplements, we wrote our own descriptions of areas of Dorastor that had not really been described. Where something had been described in Dorastor Land of Doom, we simply added a link to the supplement, rather than repeating everything. So, the Dorastor Inn was described in some detail, so I left it along, simply referencing it. Of course, that doesn't help the many people who don't own a copy of Dorastor Land of Doom but I can't do much about that. For places like Slimestone, I added a lot of detail and wrote up the Great Gorp as a cult, so added a lot to the sketch descriptions from Dorastor Land of Doom.
  23. My view is that if you don't think it would be allowed then don't do it. I wouldn't bother, to be honest. Instead, say that the cult is available to certain temples as a Subcult, granting a spell or skill. Sometimes, you could have a local Spirit Cult to the deity and, thereby, gain more skills or spells. But I wouldn't have it as a standalone cult. Having said that, having a temple to Durev that is only used by carpenters worshipping every season is fine. Alternatively, look at the Book of Doom, which consists of the RQ Conversions of HW breakouts, from my website.
  24. This aspect of everyday urban life is, of course, featured in Chris Gidlow's superb book Citizens of the Lunar Empire. If you want a meal, generally you'd pop downstairs to the corner Bar for a tasty hot snack, or to the Bakery for fresh bread. My Mum remembers her Dad going to the bakehouse with a Sunday dinner, for it to be cooked, then she'd fetch him from the pub later so he could take it back home for the family to eat.
