  1. On a more humorous note, I can imagine gangs of Elmali and Yelmalions hurling insults at each other about why the other's god is such a wimp. "Your god is just Orlanth's lackey!" "Well, your god is Yelm's stooge! And we get fire magic!" "Yeah, well we get Sunspears!" "Only from his old man, not from him!" Etc, etc.
  2. Well, for the first part, Christianity did eventually catch on in Europe.
  3. But that still leaves Yelmalio dependent on Yelm for the flashiest of his effective powers. The political and geographic separation makes more sense to me; Yelmalio might be subservient to Yelm theoretically, but with no Yelm worshipers actually around it doesn't amount to much in actual practice whereas Elmali worshipers are always near Orlanthi worshipers. (I hope this thread isn't beginning to look like a "Let's gang up on Jeff!" session. That certainly isn't my intention.)
  4. This is the bit that confuses me. Why isn't Yelmalio a subordinate of Yelm?
  5. But the term is no longer regularly used to mean that. Being a mere colonial, I would rate even lower, I suppose.
  6. It takes two Enemy Magic cards to overcome the Rhino Riders' Tribal Champion. You place the first Enemy Magic card alongside the Tribal Champion card, and discard them both when a second enemy magic card is drawn. What happens when the Rhino Riders player has one Enemy Magic card, and draws a second Tribal Champion? Is the Enemy Magic card discarded or does it remain to affect another Tribal Champion if the RR player draws one?
  7. Granted that it was rarely used by whole military units. My point was it's use by individuals.
  8. Bison riders not using missile weapons. Given what Sandy Petersen wrote about ancient warfare (link)it seems unlikely that they would survive without them. Restricting long bows to only the Rathoreli. It seems to overate both how powerful and how rare the longbow was.
  9. I've used "You son of a Broo" as an insult sometimes.
  10. Remember that accepting Chaos as part of the cosmos doesn't mean that they accept it in their everyday life any more than accepting the existence of Darkness would automatically mean putting up with Trolls. A Thanatari cultist is not going to be any more tolerated by Lunars any more than by anyone else.
  11. Something to remember here is that the view being discussed here is influenced heavily by the RuneQuest rule system, and HeroQuest and 13th age may give very different ones.
  12. I'm just trying to figure out what the most logical means of getting there would be. Jon Hunter had a good point above about whether players would care, though. I suppose "the boat works by magic" is an option.
  13. That contradicts a post in an earlier thread where it was suggested that a shallow draft ship would be able to do both. What sort of ships would be suitable for the different environments?
  14. What sort of trade ship could make it from Nochet to Pavis? I've an idea for a campaign.
  15. Was that a reply to my Mithril comparison? It depends on which set of rules you are using. In HeroQuest you can get it simply by listing an iron item on your character sheet.
  16. I suspect that iron is to Glorantha as Mithril is to Middle-Earth, i.e. virtually priceless.
  17. I just want to know if the Gord-un Gopher hsunchen always travel in pairs and have impeccable manners.
  18. But please tell me that the Kangaroo tribe mentioned in Tales of the Reaching Moon #1 is canonical.
  19. RQ 1rst edition gave AIr's associations as white, tin, sword and mammal (misspelled mamma).
  20. Does anyone have this book and know how good it is? https://www.amazon.com/Bronze-Age-Military-Equipment-Howard/dp/1848842937/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=militaryhisto-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=e2e00ac287e2e599c1c552d3b3817e14&creativeASIN=1848842937
  21. I was just looking through the Runes associated with each Moon phase and realized that the Water rune doesn't show up. Was this an oversight, or there some reason for it?
  22. Any information on what Harono's Runes are, how widespread the cult is, what the worshipers do, etc.?
  23. Seems rather large for either of those two deities considering that it is not only in Nochet, but the Sacred City.
