  1. Q - can the Lune's attack (by RAW) cause Illumination? If not ... Should it??? 😉
  2. Yes, it very much does so. POW storing crystals have been a thing since the very beginning! They are thought to be the blood shed during gods' combat. Look here: https://www.chaosium.com/content/FreePDFs/RuneQuest/Rune Fixes/RQ - Rune Metal and Magic Crystals.pdf
  3. The Red Moon is, in fact, a chunk of Gloranthan ground, ripped from the world and launched into the air. The city of Glamour is on the edge of the Crater from which the moon arose. The Red Moon is NOT part of the "sky" -- it is still ascending; Sedenya conflicts with Orlanth for supremacy of the Middle Air. You can fly there, on ordinary wings (or winds). It may be suicidal (She isn't always welcoming of such blasphemy) ... but you can do it.
  4. I'm pretty sure the Mostali are responsible for TtTE. I don't think the Bat can be made compatible, nor vice versa.
  5. I think a brief mention is good; it seems relevant. Ditto for when HQ/QW drops its OGL/SRD. Honestly, though... the messy thread seems messy enough; I wouldn't promo or link it. You might mention that there is some fannish confusion & angst, which seems to be slowly resolving... Or maybe not even mention that...
  6. I don't think the CC is right, though. In the Great Darkness, Daka Fal taught the Tribes how to separate the Living from the Dead, how to send the ghosts on their way to the afterlife. These ways are well known throughout Prax! YGMV & YGWV, of course! But while the CC may be trying to do something "for the greater good" ... IMG it is misguided at best, and very probably something harmful to the very process they purport to serve. Not every ghost hungers for blood; and even of the ones that do so, only a few have legitimate claims to blood-price for their deaths. Does the CC limit themselves to that? Do they address themselves to the specific injustice (if any) and only exact the ghosts' vengeance upon those who bear the guilt? Using cannibalism to propitiate a ghost whose cause is to see their dead&unburied children get proper funerals is NOT going to lay that ghost. It's very possible that unjustly-taken blood and death, sacrificed to the ghost, will instead warp it and emPOWer it to further bloody pseudo-vengence... Rather than secretly aiding the CC, I expect every (sane) family in the area to solicit shamans & followers of Grandfather Mortal, Daka Fal, etc.
  7. ...? you wear a swan to awards ceremonies???!?
  8. That's good. 'Cos next time? ... They gonna have a Reflection spell up, and dominate your Boss. Y'aint gonna be salty, my friend. You gonna be brined.
  9. As I'm wont to tell my youngest (an avid Harry Potter fan) -- No, not me! Sirius was Harry's godfather!
  10. Visually, Ogres pass as human. They eat humans (and possibly human cannibals turn into Ogres sometimes). It gives you a separate (non-CC) "cannibalism" element, if you want to link that to an Old Pavis family...
  11. I see... But frankly that "in theory" clause (of JonL's) actually looks awfully practical, to me... The WotC-style OGL already allow mixing OGC and non-OGC content in a single work, after all; as does the BRP OGL. Let's add a "W" (for WotC) and repeat that; then a "B" for BRP: the WOGL already allows mixing WOGC and non-WOGC content. So it allows mixing WOGC and "BOGC" content, correct? And vice versa, the BOGL allows mixing BOGC and non-BOGC content. All as per the terms of the respective licenses. (I mean... unless you want to make a version of Camelot where Arthur and Lancelot are Beholders. Then Jeff Richards and Mike Mason drink a few beers, have a laugh, and come over to beat the living shi-- ... erm, play in your game.) I'm not seeing a dramatic problem here... You include BOTH license in the front matter, and indicate that neither licence applies to OGC of the other. What am I missing?
  12. Also -- if everything goes onto a Resistance Table -- you can replace the "active vs passive" use of the table and go to "player facing rolls" -- whether attacking an NPC or defending vs. the NPC's attack, it's always the PLAYER who rolls, not the GM.
  13. Wait... I didn't get MINE in fancy shrinkwrap! Are you telling me I got a used copy of the podcast??!? Dammit, I want my clacks back!
  14. There absolutely could be; I just see it as very unlikely...if for no other reason than there just isn't as much privacy in a city, and if suspicions arise, CC-folk in Pavis can't just vanish into the desert. I think the overwhelming majority of Survival-Covenant folk in Pavis are transients. They come for a day, a week, a season... finish what they came for, and leave. Maybe a few oldsters (less fit for the rigors of nomad life) might "retire" to Pavis, to act as agents for their tribe, to hold down a space for visiting tribe-members, etc etc etc... But I don't see such oldsters relating much to any Old Pavis families (and I don't see CC oldsters passing themselves off successfully as "regular" Praxians... where are the visiting Riders, FrEx?) Under the Lunar occupation, there were a LOT of Sables; a few individuals may have stayed a bit longer? But mostly were transient too. In the end, the CC are pursuing (culturally, religiously) a form of Waha's Covenant; Old Pavis families mostly HATE the Praxian nomads, and don't respect the Covenant. I can see an exception made by some Zebra Riders, who honor Waha & Eiritha... but not making an exception for Cannibals, for Waha's sake!!! OTOH, individual characters -- PC's or "GM Specials" -- can ALWAYS be exceptions to the generalities of the setting. If I had a good plotline that called for this, I'd jump on it! If they WERE Chaotic -- if Uroxi Chao-dar detected them -- they certainly wouldn't survive long in New Pavis! The enclave I mentioned out in the Rubble has a solution to this, but living in close proximity to others seems likely to become problematic...
  15. This is unexpected, to me. Can you tl;dr the argument, or point / link to discussions?
  16. This act of Rune Magic can be found over here: https://basicroleplaying.org/topic/9784-forum-tricks-its-magic-innit/ As to the rest... p'raps we should launch a new thread, so's not to derail this one further? Your topic is admirable, sir, and I'd hate to see it cut short!
  17. I would expect (not having seen any) all Lunar maps to show one of two things: the Crater (and thus the Red Moon itself) in the center, or (if it's off the edge of the map) the Crater being the "North" for that map.
  18. I think the Cannibal Cult are, essentially, "perverted" Praxians, adhering to a variation of the Survival Covenant that is anathema to the rest. That wouldn't be Old Pavis! On the other hand, YGWV and also
  19. I met my wife at the gaming table (in the library, in high school). We have been gaming together ever since. 🥰 When it came time to create a first "official" (by the rules) PC for our eldest child (who was 6 or 7 at the time, IIRC) my wife instructed me to "cheat" to make the PC extra-survivable. 😱 I advised her that -- instead of "cheating" -- I was simply (and unusually) going to let my "inner munchkin" have free reign in the design/build of the character. 😇
  20. Do you mean a revision of the BigGoldBook? Then no; or at least, "not soon." Yesterday, Chaosium wrote (on their FB page):
  21. OK, I admit that -- while I love me some Arthuriana -- I'm not up to threading the Monmouth-vs-Mallory needle (even if I wanted to (which I don't!)).
  22. It's the "BRP" that they control; if you want to use OpenBRP, you need to abide by their terms. If they bizarrely wanted to forbid any redheaded PC's, or halberds, or foodstuffs beginning with the letter "f" ... they could do so in conjunction with the OpenBRP license. Because they're protecting KAP, they forbid Arthuriana-chez-Mallory in conjunction with the OpenBRP license. Because they're protecting CoC, they forbid the Mythos in conjunction with the OpenBRP license. ... etc If they had a RPG where redheaded, halberd-wielding PC's ate lots of fish and figs and flan, then they'd be... really really bizarre. 😉 <scurries off with a new concept for a Vingan PC>
