  1. No, I only did the nomads, but 1621 5000 (Pavis GtA) 1622 4000 (Windstop - fully inside area) 1623 4025 (recovery assuming growth rate of 0.0063) 1624 4050 (recovery assuming growth rate of 0.0063) 1625 3645 Moonbroth II & Siege. if you want to play with Gloranthan growth rates, you can extrapolate using http://www.metamorphosisalpha.com/ias/population.php. Gloranthan growth rates are much lower than RW ones if you use current human figures - 1623 4050 recovery 1624 4100 recovery 1625 3690 Moonbroth II & Siege. as usual Your Gloranthan Population Growth Figures may Vary.
  2. Virtually every adult is a member of some kind of organised religion. Those that aren't are likely story hooks or outcasts in some form (or both). Membership = initiated (Rune cult, spirit cult, spirit society, magical school, magical organisation). Initiation is important for social acceptance and defines who you are in society, hence no membership = outcast. RQ also has Lay membership as well which is so you can take part in the big ceremonies, but don't get to see or do the cool stuff, but you likely get fed and watered having donate some magic points. Lay membership in HQG is just colour with no real details needed. Roughly 1 in a 100 initiates in a "big" magic person (RP, RL, Shaman, acolyte, sorcerer, etc.) roughly 1 in 100 of those per cult is a "huge" magic person, although this varies from cult to cult. eg Praxian Yelmalion Nomad = roughly 14.5k, so 145 Light Khans of which 1 a named hero for the Hero Wars.

  5. Since that post, we now have the original map, that we didn’t have access to back then. However I suspect that there were a number of versions and redraws historically. @Jeff do you have the “Corfu” version.
  6. Here's the Hero Wars corrections from 2003 showing Arkat's runes for Hero Wars: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/publishers/issaries/glorantha-introduction-to-the-hero-wars/iss1102-glorantha-introduction-to-the-hero-wars-corrections/
  7. I've changed the pictures so that they link to the media files. If you find others, let me know.
  8. While sorting through Glorantha.com and moving the archives to https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com I've come across some forgotten treasures https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/websites/moondesign-com/jeffs-old-blogs/greater-lunar-empire/ Since this article was put up, we now have the original White Bear Red Moon Maps, which I've added. https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/GS-Map-Greater-Lunar-Empire1-791x1024.jpg
  9. in my opinion yes. I’m not interested in the making part, just the looking bit. You are welcome to disagree as is everyone. No threat intended. only stated so that no one points the finger that I may be a “company guy” I’m not sure what there is to worry about? my only concern was that you had misunderstood the use of the word. It’s clear to me now that you chose what you’ve said. It would be good to show some Cthulhu art, the stuff you’re posting now is a bit off topic.
  10. I must object to that, Like most things, it's normally agree or disagree. People have different opinions, you either agree or disagree with them. Objecting to someones opinion is neither agreeing or disagreeing. it often comes overs as "you are wrong, I am right". In my experience with art there is normally like or don't like (or the worst which is ambivalent/boring), so you either agree or disagree on whether something is "good" or not". Your opinion of some of the Call of Cthulhu art is like most people - mixed - not everyone likes everything. Because all of this is subjective, even terms describing the art can be hard to agree upon. Cartoony is clearly one of them, your subjective view of what is cartoony is not going to be shared by everyone, but that doesn't make anyone wrong. My guess is that English is not your first language, so I'd would suggest being careful with words like object unless you're certain what you are trying to achieve. Generally when people disagree that's okay, but objecting to their opinions just steps up the annoyance factor. Objecting to what the Call of Cthulhu line editor is saying won't ever come over well. However disagreeing with him is perfectly okay. I only like the first and third pictures, they are funny, I've always felt the Mona Lisa boring and that generic "Wild West Indian's" art never did anything for me. This image is too cartoony for my games, but I like it. disclaimer - I work for Chaosium and there's plenty of art they've commissioned that I don't like. but there's also plenty that I do.
  11. I finally rebuilt it. It's bare bones for now, but you can see the pictures. https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/gallery/
  12. We've only three tiny references that I can find for Jolaty: The Guide The Intro to Glorantha and Greg's unpublished Lunar Army Book (1997) The link is then made with the Zolathi mystics in the fortunate succession.
  13. I had a play with population pyramids years ago. Given a clan of 500, this is one way of plotting its population - you may disagree with some of my numbers but it's just a model for looking at ideas. Please bear in mind this ignores any war, so there are no "pinches". Feel free to make your own. If you are wondering what this is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_pyramid I think that given the number girls of beginning to menstruate at roughly 6 per year, they would be set up to manage this - roughly 1 per season. The small ritual lodges likely have their raw materials ready for use bundled by the loom house, ready to be used. Her community that visits her and stand watch are likely close adult female relatives and a priestess may be 4-5. As with many ritual practices in the real world, participants are allowed to eat, sleep and do some limited work. I can imagine that while singing the songs that are needed, they would prepare food, feed babies, make things. The other reason that I don't think this disruptive is that this is part of everyones ongoing life, much the same as birth and death. The same could be said of the boys initiation - who has time to take a group of boys away.
  14. The majority of people initiate in Orlanthi society. Have you seen the original articles that Sartar Kingdom of Heroes was based on? https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/gloranthan-documents/glorantha-2/cultures/ernaldan-initiation-rites/ https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/gloranthan-documents/glorantha-2/cultures/orlanthi-initiation-rites/ These are key Gloranthan Documents by Greg. I'd suggest that the divergence part is very varied and can happen at many points and that there is no "one size fits all". The places could be as diverse as first menstruation - the girl rejects being a woman and becomes other entering a different path (perhaps finds herself in the boys camp) (maybe can never have children) never has a first menstruation - takes the boys path. (Can never have children) the guiding during the Gods War guides her onto Vinga or someone else's path, but she never enters the Great Sleep. (maybe has children) after the two years, she initiates to Vinga (likely an event precipitates this) (maybe has children) Changes cult after an event to Vinga. (maybe has children)
  15. Andre also had some other fiction at his stand at Essen, IIRC: We have three Gloranthan fiction books published: The Widow's Tale, a 244 pages novel by Penelope Love, and Eurhol´s Vale & Other Tales, a 192 pages anthology, including two novels and two short stories, also by Penelope Love. And It´s Not Easy Being Grim, containing all gloranthan short stories by the late Jim Chapin. http://www.tradetalk.de/english/index.php3

    Pavis!

A unit does move off, but not the whole tribe. Because of their location, the Windstop, Moonbroth II and the Liberation of Pavis take their toll. By 1625 the Zebra tribe are down to roughly three quarters of their 1621 numbers. Many stay behind to protect tribe and look after the children. Those that venture off with Jaldon and Argrath will bring back riches to bolster their tribe (like the other tribes).

  20. Although not RQG, the Hippogriff is covered in Anaxial's Rooster only $5 in the Vault at Chaosium Creatures cut from the original book due to space constraints can be found at in the Well of Daliath - Not enough room in the Ark - you can see the format too. It's easy enough to stat them for RQG.

  22. The spike shattered at the end of the Storm Age and marks the beginning of the Great Darkness. Most god's mythologies stem from the Storm Age and their subsequent actions in the Great Darkness and then final death. Before the Spike shattered is a well know time for most Gloranthans. I would say that the Green Age at the beginning of the Golden Age is the unfathomable time, where lack of differentiation makes self identification with this time difficult. See the Guide pages 116-120.
  23. We have a picture and description of him on page 220 of the Guide
