  1. Nice. Those would definitely be useful for an Arkwright or similar parallel-jumping game.
  2. Mine arrived the other day. Very nice book - probably my favorite BRP / d100 book to date.
  3. Mine was waiting for me this afternoon, in California, on my return from work. Really crazily well-packed too - not a complaint.
  4. Good question. I think here consolidates a lot of cross-system thought, and likely gets a lot more traffic.
  5. I'm especially interested in the "“Fallback” inserts that will help you hybridize it with other rules." Being a fan of OGL (and GORE and OQ for %), this sounds quite interesting indeed.
  6. I think Ben will forgive you, sir. For myself (having Horror on the Orient Express, among others), MW - or a MW release - would need to reach similar levels. I grabbed Cubicle 7's London boxed set for COC, which prices ~ $90 US. Component-wise I'd expect heavy paper maps, several high quality books, illustrations. Honestly, though, I'd be happy with a 64 - 96 page MW that's well executed, laid out, and crisply done. I think the magic of MW isn't in its volume, really.
  7. Thanks for sharing, Questbird. That sounds awesome!
  8. You roll hard, friend. That takes me back.
  9. Some days I think about a Southern Reaches book / pack / series with more like old wood cut style design (and maps and stat blocks, of course). I don't think MW has a really strong visual theme to stick to. I'm another fan of the MW cover though. I never noticed that either about the tabard.
  10. It was nice to see a copy of "Winds" on the shelf at EndGame the other day. I acquired one (and left one on the shelf for others).
  11. I'm also in the more settings camp. Between OQ, Renaissance, Legend, RuneQuest Gateway, and Gore, there's plenty of publishing options. More settings, and. GM materials and such, would be cool. The D&D oriented OSR seems to have a lot more traction in such things it seems.
  12. It's showing for me via iPad. And sweet map!!
  13. In this case, it may have had something to do with the fact that there was a particular altar, which when it was created existed off the wing of the Hyperborean colosseum (which, I'm told, was the place to be among the royal and connected ... thousands of years ago before it got buried). Onto such altar had been bound a particular demon, and as of late, some down and out Hyperboreans had learned of such and ... Ahem. Ben is listening. Wet bar. I like that though ...
  14. I can't believe you also left "Walk" skill out ... In seriousness, I think we made do with a Dex roll (Dex x 5%, that is), which is pretty much what we needed to get at.
  15. Two options - cheap and functional, if not "official and published" that I've used are small whiteboard (hand held) with magnets and/or markers, and index cards. I find the index cards (one per character, one for "end of round", and then adding cards for anything magical, etc. as needed) work well in combination with a master listing of PCs and monsters.
  16. Yesterday's session of MW, The Strange Tales of the DreamWorld" , kicked off really well. I had five players, all experienced hands, who made their characters in advance. We got through finishing chargen, first meeting, and start & finished the 1st adventure all in yesterday's session. (!!) The PCs are: Ka, talking mystical raven; Karvirzhul ("Zhul"), Hyperborean warlock and trader; Vitu Quicksilver, mutant rogue; Cito Kusanagi, human springdart marksman; and Angus Khan, steppes nomad They met (ill or otherwise) in Khromarium, south along the coast from Zakarion in the Six Kingdoms. Finding opportunities to investigate a demon cult in the sewers or some a "small caravan job" in the lucrative but dangerous dream distillate trade, they chose ... the sewers. Which lead to a two level delve to the ruined layers of the city below the current sewers.
  17. Could have used that Fly skill last night. To be less cryptic, Ben played his raven last night. Great character. No fly skill.
  18. Likewise, let's bring over Ben's Player Character:
  19. I think it best to separate my emergent Magic World campaign idea from the "respect" thread. The campaign concept emerged after some chatting with Ben and Angelo, and shifting our system and setting focus. The setting shift due to the past few sessions (a few months ago) being as bog-standard fantasy as my current non-MW campaign with other players. This creates some challenges for me - working on two campaigns concurrently is no big deal ... having them be very similar in theme and such is where I get demotivated. My players were also tired of zero-to-hero play. That, combined with a side commentary with Ben re: treatment of MW, had me think, well, let's use Magic World then. Setting wise, I've been hankering for something more sword & sorcery, and definitely more pulpy weird. One idea I've had floating around a bit is to use the Dreamlands map, and various bits of the related book(s), as a "straight up" setting for a fantasy game. From there, it quickly became ... The Strange Tales of the Dreamworld. I'm looking forward to it - the session in a week has three (possibly four) players, all of whom are old hands at gaming (general and BRP / MW). I'm super fortunate in that I might have two of the folks behind MW at the table. Having players who have system mastery, are positive contributors, great roleplayers and know the source material is a heck of a gift. I'm thinking the initial spot will be The Six Kingdoms region of the Dreamlands map: "Well and Weirdly Met in Zakarion" sounds like a good and appropriate title for the kickoff. I'll look to post materials, commentary and such to this thread. Comments, encouragement, contributions, etc. welcome. Detractors may take their issues up c/o "Arioch, Dept of Caring ..."
  20. Teaching the meanings of the word "collaboration" and "sharing". And "lunch"!
  21. I think you just sketched out a dominant Thieves Guild / Assassin's Guild for a city for me.
  22. By the way, awesome name for a cabal (of Ravens?) ... the Unkind Murder. Or even Unkind Conspiracy.
  23. Ka takes 2 HP damage for back talk to the GM ... and so do all the other members of the Unkind Murder. Respect commencing in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ...
