  1. We had some Never-Empty Bottles in a RQ Glorantha game. They produced piss-poor, weak, bad-tasting beer and took a Magic Point to refill. They kept us going through several deserts, to the GM's annoyance.
  2. I've never liked that. Your fetch is yourself on the Spirit Plane, your Spirit-Self. Why shouldn't the Fetch be the one gallivanting on the Spirit Plane while you are sitting down, banging drums, shaking rattles and mumbling incoherently to yourself? That makes a lot more sense to me.

Yelorna is a very different cult to Yelamlio, in my opinion. She is the goddess of the Unicorn Riders and of the Shield Maidens, of individual warriors, of cavalrywomen and infantry. Yelmalio is the god of mercenaries, of phalaxes, of spearmen and of farmers. They overlap because Yelona is a warrior goddess and sometimes fights alongside Yelmalio, but I think they are very different. Women can join Orlanth or Vinga, or even both. at least, I'd like to think they could. Men can become Lay Members of Ernalda, but not become Initiates. as far as I know, men cannot join the Eiritha cult, as that is female only. Oh, please don't. No thread on why there are/aren't female warriors ends well. As far as I am concerned, females were warriors, have been warriors and female PCs can be warriors if they want to be. For me, Vingans are women. They are women who fight, who take revenge and who usually return to their previous roles. They differ from Babeester Gori in that babeester gori tend to make permanent vows, rather than temporary ones. And bearing children is not the definition of womanhood, otherwise infertile females are not women.

In cultures such as the Turkic or Mongol peoples, women warriors often defended the nomad camps while the men were at war. Some women joined the men, as there are accounts of women archers and warriors, but many female warriors were defensive. After all, who better to defend than someone who passionately cares about their home and family? The men who clear off all the time, or the women who stay around?

    Yes, of course we do.
  6. Nothing, because that's what happens in real life and historically. Someone comes along, flashes a load of money and buys influence. Some people don't like it and go away to dig up some dirt to spoil their reputation, but everyone else thinks they are wonderful.
  7. Yes, it was always going to happen, as soon as I saw a line of swords or a page of axes from many moons ago. Glad to see that you listened!
  8. Oh, we already know about this, MOB, and some of us have bought things from it. Can we have some new news instead, please? 😀
  9. What I might allow is a Runemaster giving a gift of a Single Treasure, Magical Bull or Whatever, before any tithe is taken. Almost a case of "Oh, this isn't mine, it's for the Temple", then declaring income afterwards.
  10. Yes, and I often use that kind of thing as HeroQuest rewards, either as a spell or Ability. Generally, I see Skill Increase as being a minor reward, followed by Spirit Magic, Rune Magic and Abilities, with more specialised rewards after those.

I would only restrict membership to those cults that have gender restrictions. So, Yelm and Waha only allow male members (Tee, hee), so I wouldn't allow female Initiates of Yelm or Waha. Orlanth is not gender restricted, neither is Yelmalio, so female cultists are fine. As to why a female would want to join Orlanth rather than Vinga or Yelmalio rather than Yelorna, that is a matter for Backstory or Gameplay.
  12. Hey folks, someone might see something as expensive where someone else sees it as reasonable or cheap. It depends on where people are from, what their jobs are and how old they are, amongst other things. I have to remind myself every time I buy something that hardcopies don't cost £9.99 nowadays and PDFs don't cost £1.99. They should, but that was when I started RPGing, which was closer to Old Money times than now. £19 for a PDF is quite expensive, as I am sure that Martin would acknowledge. However, for me, it is worth it. I bought the PDF after I bought the hardcopy, mainly so I won't break the hardcopy by opening it.
  13. Apparently, it is being planned.
  14. If I played a Trickster, what I would do would be to make a list of all the personality Pairs and roll randomly on them when doing something. So, if I was confronted by a bear, I would roll against brave/Cowardly to see if I fought it or ran away; if I saw a merchant with a nice gem, I'd roll on Greedy to see if I stole it and so on. nothing I did would be determined by me, all by dice rolls. until I wanted to do something, then I wouldn't roll, for the hell of it.
  15. The Only Old One granted a spell called Cure Iron Burn, which works like Cure Chaos Wound, so it provides all the MPs used to heal a wound caused by iron. It doesn;t stop the wound, but makes healing it easier, especially if used with Heal Wound. Seems like a reasonable spell. However, who would grant it? The Only Old One proved that he was both a Troll and Not a Troll, at various times, so perhaps he might grant it. As for the Aldryami, I am not sure where it would come from. it would be a good reward on a HeroQuest, though. I think so, but it is a good spell.
  16. I'm talking about Werefolk, not normal Hsunchen. In the RQ2 book, there were 4 Werefolk described, all could change form at will, without the use of magic. Maybe that's because Hsunchen were not described until RQ3, but the impression I had was that normal Hsunchen had to use magic, but Werefolk could transform at will, because they were extra special, divinely-blessed people. So, Telmori have the Transform spells, but a Wolf Brother can transform without them and then can cast the spells to improve bite, armour and speed.
  17. Oh, they have special powers for that kind of thing. "I'm going off Adventuring", "Sure, no problem, you can go if you like". "What, have you a problem with that?", "No, of course not, I'll just mend the fences by myself". "Come on, what's wrong with you?", "Nothing, I'm fine". "Ok, if you don't want me to, I'll mend the fence instead", "Whatever, then the cows need fetching from the high pasture tomorrow". "Yes, Dear"
  18. Broo impregnating objects, now there's an idea. Rock Broo with heavy armour, Tree Broo that are like very bad Ents, bonfire Broo for very brave Fathers.

    Pavis!

Orlanth's 6 Virtues are Courage, Wisdom, Generosity, Justice, Honor & Piety. Some could, arguably, be used to oppose torture. Ikadz is the God of Torture and is generally seen as Chaotic. However, that is when you take it to the extreme. A little bit of torture is fine, isn't it?
  20. Roughly, yes. Gata in Genertela more or less the same as Yanmorla in Pamaltela. Genert of course had a whole court with many other deities who died with him. Ah, another layer of the onion that is the Deep Earth is revealed, thanks. For some reason, I never saw the reason why we have Ga and Gata as Primal Earths, now it makes sense. Ga was The Earth Cube, with Gata and Yanmorla as mega-Land Goddesses, both with horny brothers. I wonder if Ga had any other Daughters, the equivalent of Gata, for the lands that have been sunk. The area around the Spike might be one, the very far, mythical East/West might be others.
  21. rude, Tricksters are not broo The Mad Sultanate are not broo. They were formed when a Lunar Army say the Crimson Bat for the first time, I believe, and went mad. They live in Dorastor, with the Mad Sultan leading them. Just don't give them Remove (body part), otherwise you'll get stealth breeding.

In some ways, it is just Orlanth Adventurous for women, a way to have female adventurers. However, we had female members of Orlanth way before Vinga appeared, so I am not sure that is a good enough reason to have the cult. It is specifically aimed at those women who take the Adventurous path as a form of revenge, so dying hair red and leaving the household behind is a classic way of initiating into Vinga. Some people have given Vinga Gifts and Geases, like Humakt or Yelmalio, but I am not sure that fits. It will be in the Gods and Goddesses of Glorantha, but I doubt whether it will have a full writeup, as it is seen very much as a variant of Orlanth. If Humakti can get pregnant then why not Vingans? Naimless was a female Humakti and she gave birth during a battle. I get that they leave their normal female duties by dying their hair red, so they become like Orlanth not like Ernalda. However, Orlanth Adventurous is fertile, as he fathers children on many goddesses and nymphs, so why shouldn't Vinga be fertile? Of course, if you want to go with the dying of the hair preventing pregnancy, that works as well. It also gets around what happens when Adventuresses get pregnant.
