  1. After completing the "flying monkey", ( a grotesque sexual act no doubt), the vingan is never the same after and applies for Babeestor Gori membership with her fearful companion Basmoli. Seems plausible...
  2. I had edited the original link to the new pdf to correct the Zed's Ded Box entry. Try the below link @ Darius West & Jon Hunter. Further additions may be added later. Depends how much I have to scroll through the thread... Book of Treasure - Even More Plunder.pdf
  3. Soooo less 'Horton hears a who' and more like 'Horton hears a nameless cry of inhuman terror and decides to go about his day otherwise'?
  4. Got sick of scrolling through the pages... Book of Treasure - Even More Plunder.pdf
  5. Interestingly enough, we never used Ulerian cultists in our games until someone suggested later that they could be modeled after Firefly's/Serenity's companions. After that, the cult became more used in games.
  6. No assumption, just counted. What may end up or not end up in a new Plunder is another subject.
  7. Content-wise, we just passed the original Plunder in items.
  8. Name Sword of the Martyr Description: This weapon is unique in that it, of itself isn't magical but instead, the magic of the weapon is within its hilt. The hilt is described as having a bone shaped bronze grip with a horn or bone skull screw-top pommel and a non-descriptive, sweat-stained leather wrapped grip. The skull screw top has the Death rune scrimshawed upon it. Cults: Known of by Humakt, Arkat and Yanafal Tarnils cults Knowledge: One of a kind History: Inadvertently created in the 1st age by an unknown Humakti that sacrificed themselves for Arkat as the western allies dwindled, the sword’s hilt was originally attached to a two handed greatword but has since been affixed to several differing blades. The last known sightings of the item was in Ralios near the fortress of Kartolin during the Gbaji wars and once again, after, during the 2nd age in the Holy Country. Procedure: A wielder that knows the secret of the hilt can unscrew the pommel’s button and pour a drop of the last user’s blood from the pommel’s reservoir and create the below spell effects. Powers: The hilt contains a reservoir filled with the blood of the last martyred user which endows the weapon with the following; - Once 7 POW is sent into the hilt, the wielder is able to cast Bladesharp 7 onto the sword attached once per season. - If the hilt's cap is unscrewed and a drop of the contained blood is spilt onto a threshold, it creates a warding 4 for the area. - Each use of the hilt’s abilities will consume one drop of the blood contained. (The hilt will contain 2d6+6 drops of the last martyr’s blood when found) Value: The item is a one of a kind item and is worth whatever the present owner is willing to pay for it’s return. The cult’s of Humakt and Yanafal Tarnils would likely be willing to pay upwards to 20,000 Lunar for it, 50,000 if containing a filled reservoir. Note – It is rumored that the Sword of the Martyr is a self-fulfilling prophecy for it’s owner and invariably leads to a martyred death of the owner.
  9. Name Peace-bonds Description: Twined braided copper wires joined with a melted lead bolg bearing the mark of Sartar on one side and Orlanth on the other. A broken peace-bond affects anyone within three meters of the peace-bond. It counteracts Demoralize and Fanaticism and acts to keep anyone from getting too excited. Cults: Lhankor Mhy – (Sartarite city rings) Knowledge: Open Cult Secret in the Sartar region but based on an older Orlanthi piece of knowledge from Orlanth’s First Ring History: Peace-bonds came into being when Sartar created the first for two warring tribal leaders who would only agree to meet, in a moot, if the other agreed to leave all weapons behind. As neither tribal leader would agree to something that would leave them defenseless in the presence of his enemy, Sartar proposed instead, that both leaders, magically seal their weapons in their scabbards with a pair of twined copper wires joined with a melted lead bolg that the three would put their mark on. Whichever broke the lead seal of the peace-bond would cause the magics used in creating the peace-bond to cast and would be given a chance to calm themselves before blood could be shed. Procedure: Copper wires are braided together and threaded through a lead bolg, Usually a recipient of a peace-bond is made to put 2D6 points of their temporary POW into the spell at the same time the bond is first affixed to a weapon and scabbard. Powers: As a mark of faith in Sartar’s city ring, each POW point added to the peace-bond’s sacrifice adds three meters to the radius of effect. To work, if broken, a single POW vs POW roll is made against all the potential targets based on the caster’s POW and added points (usually from the bearer at bonding). All those in the area are affected if overcome and become less hostile and more willing for peace. A priest will stack points of normal Power with this spell to help it get through defensive spells. Countermagic and Shield will protect against this if they are strong enough. Peace-bonds are rated with 2D6 added POW per participant. Value: The item works only within Sartarite city limits and only with a particular peace-bond. Premade peace-bonds are available from Sartarite city officials for a 600 lunar deposit for the peace-bond. This deposit is refundable from city officials if the seal is intact.
  10. @RosenMcStern for deleting quotes, you can also backspace over the text you don't want to include in the quote to par it down.
  11. That seems so. Hopefully Jeff will choose to confirm this? I'm still trying to see how this works in practice and whether there are other factors that haven't been mentioned yet.
  12. Yep. Gonna need more popcorn.
  13. Probably the difference with saying "please" and "please" with a stick.

    Windstop.

It's from the herowars/heroquest book ORLANTH IS DEAD!, Sartar Rising, volume 2. Amazon link. From that page - "Orlanth is Dead!, begins the Sartar Campaign with an epic conflict against the Lunar Empire. Whitewall has fallen, and all across Dragon Pass the winds have stopped. As winter deepens and spring fails to come, the rebellion begins in southern Sartar at the supernatural struggle later known as the Battle of Iceland." Happens Winds Day/Death Week/Dark Season 1621 as an after effect from the fall of Whitewall. "It is morning. Suddenly, the wind stops. Everyone in Sartar freezes with surprise, indecision, fear, and then horror. No wind blows, and the few clouds in the sky stand absolutely still and do not move or change shape. No magic works if it comes from Orlanth, Ernalda, or their subcults." Hope that helps.
  15. Ultimately, it seems like the chaosium is treading a perceived line of fanbase and commercial failure/ success stress. With that, there needs to be deciding factors that they have to stick with, as nothing is ever well designed by a committee. While some things may be liked by a lot of people and some things won't be liked by some, ultimately, it is chaosium's decision on what is in the final product. With the team they assembled, I can tell that they are as big a fans of their game as most here are and are actually invested in its success. With people that care about the game as much as these guys, it won't be a middle of the road release with the same 'let's throw a new variant spin in and make it work regardless, even if the play tests of it showed it failed' it won't be because they won't let it. What fan of RQ would? My two clacks.. Along with "YGWV" about sums up things for this grognard. That and 'no friggin physical runes'. Besides, I haven't heard about spirit combat yet.
  16. Just wanted to weigh in on a few earlier posts. As to spell naming convention, just pointing out - something along the lines of 'Alkazar's Itinerant inversion' is a lot to write on a character sheet when 'haste' or 'mobility' would describe the spell, just as well. Also would be helpful during game sessions. Player - "In the grim moments of battle, between foes, um.. I ready 'Jarret's Incandescent Obfuscation' to delay the enemy's approach" Gm - "Right. Fred readies extinguish. Just say extinguish Fred." Player - "fine... extinguish"
  17. I will have to see how it plays out. One thing I am curious about is why 'Tap' when 'Separate' is also used? The general definition of the word 'separate' seems like 'tap' would be a redundancy technique having the same functional meaning. Also, not a fan of spells using a skill percentage for each spell when the new sorcery looks like it is be how skillful a sorcerer is with their technique knowledge and knowledge of runes. Isn't that also redundant? Get skilled in application of techniques and knowledge of a rune then ALSO have to get skilled again in each spell? Would rather have seen the sorcerer get skilled in their techniques and runes then have a modifier on applying those techniques when attempting to cast a spell. More along the lines of a singer training their voice and lungs then applying that knowledge to a new song style.
  18. Another way is to 'Indiana Jones' them by having some of the action occur near them and having them caught up in it. Maybe they inadvertently end up with some of the ransom and are mistakenly identified as part of the gang or hear the Long distance cry of 'there they are! Lets string them up!' As they see a band of men with flashlights/ torches start towards them firing off shots (missing due to distance, of course). Rail-roady but lots of possibilities to motivate a group.
  19. Right! Shaddap! Siddown! Lissen up you larvae pukes! All Right, who threw that?!? I see’z yah maggot-brain! Get ‘im boys!” “So, mister funny-horns thinks he’s above the law, huh? Let’s see what a week in the nursing pens does for yah!” Right!” “Now, the rest of youse puss-bags payz attenshun! This here meat-puppet next to me ain’t to be touched or breeded with” Cuz I sez so, that’s why! Yah wanna join mister funny-nuts in the pens? Do yah? Huh, do yah? Right, then! Now siddown and no funny bizness.” Awright! Lissen up! I presents to youse, Boss Ralzakark! “Thank you gentlemen for that heartfelt welcome.” “It has long been on my mind, that for centuries our race has been misunderstood by the world at large. Specifically, the world has laboured under the false impression that Brookind, as a whole, are no better than animals with nonexistent armory skills, wielding fire-hardened sticks.” “In order to set the record straight, I have compiled a treatise on our race that the Lhankor Mhy sage, to my left, has enthusiastically volunteered to scribe and carry back to his little temple near our border.” “Apparently the standing knowledge, to date, of our race has been meager in its entirety. While the humancentric view of Brookind has served our race well, there comes a time when the ill-informed adventurer type become, not a useful blessing, but, instead, an unwanted irritant.” “Yes, I am aware that our little home in Doraster is, thankfully, off the beaten path of these typical adventuring parties I speak of.” “And yes, I’m sure you could ‘bugger’ a few more of them.” “Yes. Until their eyes cross. Very droll.” “Now then, it has…. Ah…Yes, yes! And their sisters too, I understood you the first time.” “Oh, Lieutenant? Will you kindly see to that?” Right, Boss! C’mere youse dumbass! “Thank you. Now then, let us kindly ignore the screaming and… Ah good. It’s stopped.” “Ahem. Unfortunately these ‘adventurers’ have been operating under a mistaken belief that has been perpetuated by certain limited texts. What has been known of our race, I will not repeat Suffice it to say, the descriptive text is so laughably incorrect that it’s apparent that it was written, and compiled, by some neophyte sage that never had the opportunity, or willingness, to leave his library. In fact, many of the entries for other Nonhuman races bear these same negligent errors. Today’s reading of my work will now correct that.” “Gentlemen, for your edification and review, I give to you the following…” Add in your favorite information/definition on Broos here
  20. Always interesting but everyone forgets the RuneQuest Slayers attempted restart by Avalon Hill. That would push things up to RQ 8. I'm going for RuneQuest, or RQ4, as its the next direct Chaosium release of the system after RQ 3.
  21. Not a dumb question. It becomes more apparent as you fight larger creatures or heavier armored characters. The total HP use only came about when stormbringer was introduced. That release usef only total hit points and no hit locations. Some adopted it as easier but RQ had always used hit locations as well, so it's a staple of the rule system. The total HP and HP per location rules gave any character the 'ability' to be as vulnerable by a hit to the head as the largest creature would be so allowed combats to be more 'realistic' (if that can be said) and more of a gamble than a D&d combat.
