  1. Thanks for the Monster preview but is there any chance you will change the font? I don't know, but to me I just found it disturbing looking at a modern font for a classic setting ... sorry. Might be the font just seems too close to the BTRC products I referenced for a long time and did not find them easy to read. No offense, though. I still like what I read so far
  2. I think Chaot did a very well review. I never played a Wild West RPG, but this book actually got me interested. The atmosphere is good and the new rules add flavour.
  3. Unfortunately that is true. Player and GM have to work closer together and share ideas (without railroading). It is more difficult, but it still is a good experience and game.
  4. CoC is one of the better RPGs able to do one-on-one sessions - simply, because the horror gets more personal and intense. I sometimes do solo games by using "Mythic GME", a tool that works very well for free form adventures. To use it for pre-written adventures, I tend to use Mythic as a Player-simulator, rather than a GM-simulator. I find it working out very well that way and use it to test scenarios and adventures before I throw them at my players. It's always fun, especially when bored on long travels Ah, and with Mythic GME nearly any RPG works. You can even simulate a group of players when using it as a Player-Emulator.
  5. You can have a look at my 2300AD conversion as well (links in the signature). Although you might need some additional 2300AD Stuff for Background and Equipment, as I only did the conversion rules. But that stuff is cheap to come by at RPGNow.com, you would need either this book set: 2300AD - original or you could use the new version: 2300AD - Mongoose But my conversion rules cover only the "2300AD - original" rules.
  6. Don't forget, if the players come up with something clever like throwing sand or kicking the target while attacking, it might give them a bonus. In my group some people would bash in the door, yell and insult a target and make a very forceful impression in the first combat round. This could grand a bonus to their first attack, as it distracts the target. Throwing dust or sand while attacking also gives a bonus - without rolling for a thrown attack or such. The intention is to distract the target a bit, not to harm it. Think of actions movies and what protagonists do in there while doing hand to hand combat. All these dirty tricks I judge in my group help to enhance the combat - without need for additional skill rolls. They are "effects", or "modifiers", no attacks or well aimed actions. Allow the players a bit more freedom and you will see how motivated they will be to enhance the "boring" attack-defend rolls with lots of flavour. And do not look for hard rules! Story first, rules last. The beauty of the BRP system is the lack of all these "Features" players have in other RPG systems. In BRP there is no straight jacket for them, but they have to be inventive and use their imagination.
  7. nice! see you all there then
  8. I like that rule. A while ago I used "Combat Cards" to give the players more options during play. They are self created and give a bonus to attack or defense or skills, etc and some of these cards do actually include your house rules. Never thought about making it a general rule, though.
  9. THE KRAKEN! So, who is coming this year?
  10. A nice addition to add some variety to "common" creatures is to roll on the "chaotic Feature" table for Demons. It spices up even the most boring creature ... ang might give a nasty surprise for the heroes.
  11. Hi, I never used HeroLab, but I looked into it many times. Problem is, for such an easy RPG like BRP, what would you need an electronic tool for? Let's face it, character development in D&D, HERO, Gurps, AD&D, d20, True20 is much more cumbersome than it is in BRP. If you ever created a level 12 character in AD&D you know what I mean. I can see the benefit of a tool there. But for BRP? In my opinion, unless you like to have your character ready to print every time, I see no benefit. There might be one, if they bring out the add-ons to support settings and different character creation there within. So you should question yourself what would you expect the tool can do better than a fillable PDF can do ... maybe buying Adobe Acrobat Pro is a better (although more expensive) investment
  12. Hey! Hey! Hey! The community needs YOU! It needs these rules, even if they are imperfect as the Imperium ...
  13. Index, Alphabetical skill list, list of the Spot rules - all with page references - are the survival guide at the table. I printed these out on a paper, so I can find things fast during play. Although, I use a bookmarked version of the PDF on my iPad now. Speeds things up a lot. I like the way the rules are written. They repeat themselves over and over in the book, always in the right context. I rarely overlook something while reading - Jason did a great job. After 4 years of referencing it, I can really recall every important rule and where it is located in the BGB. Cannot say that from a lot of game rule books. I know some people complain about Chaosium reprinting old stuff over and over, but I like it there is no new rule book coming out every 2 years or so. Ah, BTW, got an email from Dustin, he forwarded my errata to Charlie who is "the keeper of the books". So I guess the next new BGB reprint has a good chance of having all errors fixed. I hope they will fix the PDF as well, so we might really have a 99.9999% error free BGB :-D I think that's awesome
  14. Yes, it is this book. And yes, it is the same company that did the Mythic GME. Basically, you set a "baseline" for a creature and then roll on a table to modify the baseline. You can use my tool to get the results, although it does not show you the mechanics behind it. I think it's awesome and makes coming up with creatures very easy. If you do not like the pure randomness, you can use the Creature Crafter for inspiration - it offers a lot of ideas to get you running - or modifying "things" ....
  15. I use the Mythic Creature Crafter for fun creations / inspiration. Most results are usable and interesting. For other things: I use one creature as the "default" and then think about my creature how it would compare to that default creature. Then I adjust the stats accordingly. Pretty easy and fast.
  16. Sounds about right, but does not look as fancy I think you got everything, though. No too shabby for a 400 pages book ... Maybe we can make this a stickie?
  17. I wanted to play a VTT game, but my timezone does not match with other players well. So, no luck on that front. As PBP it will work, I would attend it or GM it. Finding interested people is the main problem. So, if anybody is interested, give me a call
  18. 334 downloads

All errata I found over the last 4 years are included in this PDF file. One version you can print out and replace the pages in the PDF, the other one is to show you where the errors are if you have the hardcover book. I also included a comments file you can import with Adobe Acrobat Pro into your PDF to get a corrected version (you should make a backup, though!) Since I cannot upload .zip files, here's the link to my Dropbox: BRP Errata Print and PDF Here's the Forum thread: BRP Hardcover Errata And here the Text List from the thread: Pg. 17, 22, 381: There should not be boxes in front of the Status skill or the blank specialty line below it. Pg. 17, 22, 381: The First Aid skill starts at 30% or INTx1% (depending on the setting period). Pg. 24: Next to “Step Nine,” it should probably say “possessions,” not “profession.” Pg. 26: In the Character SIZ Chart, the entry that reads “205-\” should probably read “205-210.” Pg. 52: Artillery Specialties should reference pg. 268, “Artillery Weapon Classes.” Pg. 55: Drive is a physical skill, not a manipulation skill. Pg. 62: Under “Heavy Weapon, Base Chance,” Weapon Classes are on pg. 257 (not 248). Pg. 95: The cost per level for Control (in the chart) should probably be 3 (to match the description). Pg. 95: “Flame” should probably be named “Fire” (to match the description on pg. 97). Pg. 95: The cost per level for Ward should probably be 3 (to match the description on pg. 102). Pg. 95: “Wound” should probably be named “Wounding” (to match the description on pg. 102). Pg. 98: Strike the first two sentences of the last paragraph of the Invisibility spell. Pg. 147: Defense should probably be 5% per level (to match the description on pg. 151). Pg. 159: Strike the first two sentences of the last paragraph of the Invisibility power. Pg. 172, 384: The Skill Results Table rounds fractions up instead of rounding them normally. Pg. 214: The last sentence of the first paragraph under “Autofire” should be deleted. Pg. 215: In the first italicized example under “Big and Little Targets,” replace +30% with +15%. Pg. 224: In the text, the fiery boat or house fire damage should probably be 2D6 (as per the table). Pg. 255: The skill for Brass Knuckles is Hand, not Brawl (Brawl is still the Base). Pg. 265: The skills for artillery should be by artillery weapon class (see pg. 268). Pg. 267: In Note 1, it should probably read “1D6 per range increment” (as per “Explosives” on pg. 222). Pg. 268: The Shrapnel rules don’t seem to work for modern artillery, which has better damage as is. Pg. 296: The metric ton weight for every size 72 and up is wrong; shift them each up one step. Pg. 329 ff.: Several “Creatures” have the Artillery skill; each should indicate one or more artillery classes. Pg. 360: In the Cyborg powers, it should read “Defense 2” (not 20). 19. hahahahaha, now that is cool! 8-) Like it!
  20. OK, so here's my Errata for BRP. I included everything I could find so far, and corrected it according to discussions in the forum. The Zip fils includes a PDF showing the page, the location of the error and the corrected text on a new page. It also includes a PDF you can print and replace the page in your book. Also, I included the Errata file for people owning Adobe Acrobat Pro, so you can import the file and see the comments and corrections in your BRP PDF. But beware, it _replaces_ the error and I did not match the fonts correctly. It does not look ugly, but is not perfect either. Also, the edited PDF does not show well on an iPad (I have a different version for that, including only annotations, not the replacements). I hope folks find this useful. I will also send the file to Charlie and Dusting, maybe they can edit the PFD and make the corrected version available. BRP Errata PDF and Print
  21. Most of the "errors" are some rules and explanations, not really errors in case of wrong numbers. (They are there, though). I have a fully updated BRP PDF addressing all the errors and will try to make it available. Although I own the hardcover book, I have no idea if they are fixed in there. As far as I know this is not the case, as Chaosium only included the errata from the old BRP WiKi we had. And not all errors were included there.
  22. Still no luck on my side, cannot buy anything ... Dropped them an email, though.
  23. LOL actually I like the idea of rolling dice and rolling on random tables. But the time it takes and the unsatisfying results it can give, I decided to do this tool. Also, I have so many random tables, but I rarely use them, simply because I forget about them. An other thing is the creature crafter. It is a fantastic toolset, but rolling and calculating everything is time consuming. I love the idea of "one click - great result - or re-roll". Same with NPCs. It takes time to roll stats, come up with them and then a good villain ... I do not spend a lot time to create adventures, as my players usually divert in a complete different way and I have to improvise anyway. So this is where fast character/creature creators help me (without remembering where I put that table, that book or anything) With the help of this tool I am able to run an adventure mostly on the fly without much initial development time. All I need is a general idea, a plot or a thought. These I usually get from all this wonderful plot hook books (Eureka, 100 Things, etc). The rest is done now mainly on the fly and with the Mythic GME table. Really fun.
  24. much better! now, if you brighten up some of the images, you can get rid of the "dirt" and "noise" in them, so they blend in better (and do not look as having a "frame" around them) - and I would say that is a great character sheet
