  1. I've done a CoC boxing fight before, a long time ago, and kept it simple. A special (20%) knocked the opponent down for a count of ten (1d10) with the damage from the fist added to the dice. A critical was a knockout. Both fighters were skilled and knew what they were doing. Can be a quick knock out or go on for a fair bit.
  2. I usually find that a simple description does for players and then their own imaginations take over. Why the need for pictures and trying to find something that fits? "Bunch of pygmies swinging bolas, riding small, long tailed lizards the size of ponies, have just crested the dune...they plan to take your stuff..."
  3. Where does someone sit when riding a Bison? It looks like they and someone on a High Llama are the same height.
  4. I interpreted the serpents pulling Ronance's chariot as being seasonal rivers which fertilised the wastes.
  5. They claim to be direct descendants of the people of Genert too. The stronger the genes the more important the person. My Bolo lizard riders run up and down their lizards whilst riding, showing off, just like surfers walk along their boards. I've seen it written somewhere that they are connected to the movement rune, and I agree with Earth as their element.
  6. It's what i use as reference. My fave Praxian nation. I was hoping my players would choose them, but we got Bison riders instead.
  7. Yes they give up their herd beast and take up riding a horse. I asked the same question a few years back when i ran a pol joni campaign.
  8. David, what is the Bolo Lizard's rune? I'm presuming Earth as aren't they descendants of those who lived in the Golden Age. I think I remember seeing that they are connected to the Movement Rune too.
  9. One of our followers of Raven just got asked to tell a story by a Hyena Trickster with the words you can't trick a trickster He begins "You can't trick a Trickster." "There was a time when Mallia was too strong, disease spread through the land, man and beast alike fell to her spirits, Death was all about our land." "There were not enough living to deal with the dead and corpses lay about unburied and un-burnt, bloated under the heat of Bright Treasure and spreading Mallia's gift to all who went near them." "Waha called a moot and all the great khans who were not already fallen came and all the great spirits came too, all but Hyena that is." "Hyena and his people were sleeping for they had consumed the body of Genert and the body of that giant was enough to sustain them for an eternity." "Waha was furious that Hyena ignored his call and he sent The Bull to wake him and bring him with his tail between his legs, but Hyena just opened one eye at the coming storm and with a sigh arose wearily and moved into his den in the Earth and slept out the storm laughing in his sleep. "When the The Bull returned alone Waha's anger was greater still, but Raven said to him I have an idea to rid the lands of the piled dead and to teach Hyena a lesson too." "Waha and the Great Spirits and the Great khans listened as Raven spoke and one by one they smiled and Waha nodded when Raven had finished and said this was a good plan." "Raven send Thunderbird and Condor past Hyenas den thelling then that as they passed by the den they were to speak aloud of the great feast that Waha had prepared for all of his guests and that it awaited till after the moot was over. He told Sunhawk to stay away because he is no fun and he always spoils the fun of others." "As they did so Raven created a glamour over the dead to make their corpses smell sweet as honey and look like freshly slaughtered beasts and he then called to Little Brother telling him to blow the smell into Hyenas den." "The smell was so good that it woke Hyena and awoke in him his appetite once more and as he awoke so too did all his children and they smelt the great feast and saw freshly slaughtered beasts." "Hyena ran to the feast and fell upon it devouring the rotting dead as did his children all the time laughing that they had bettered Waha and the others at the moot, stolen their feast." "They did not fall to Mallia's spirits because they had within them already the parts of Genert and even dead and divided his health sustained them." "Of course Condor is all to easily fooled and he forgot that this was a trick and he swooped down and fell into the feast with as much vigour and when Condor's children saw this they too swooped down and joined the feast."Ohanzee finishes smiling "Can't trick a Trickster?" His smile broadens "But then again once the hunger was awoken in Hyena and his children it never left them, and when carrion is not enough herd beasts are hunted. So who really had the last laugh?"
  10. And another one... Ransoms. Do nomads accept them or even seek them out, or are they content to keep prisoners as slaves? I think it's been mentioned before that Praxians will raid to get back their people. What would a ransom for an average nomad likely be? A herd beast or two?
  11. So is there anything folk can give me about the bolo lizard riders? Favourite cults, creation myths etc.

From my limited experience Jungles are some of the shadiest places I have been too. Hot certainly.
  13. Membership of cults, relationships, character traits, heroquesting: used to do stuff, in place of skills. I use RQ2 so no trance etc.
  14. I'd say you are always better off parrying with a shield.

Also inhabited by Harrekson Fjord and his family, settlers with a great plan to freeze the waters and sell the ice to the locals.

Apart from the Uz in the Rubble there are no other trolls in the wastes or prax are there (except Corflu)? Too sunny, too hot and no shade. What about Dark season?
  17. Back in the day my percentile dice were 20 sided if i remember correctly.

So... Trolls and sun light. What's the go? Do they wander about in it or do they just go out at night? Does it hurt or damage them?
  19. Thanks you two, great stuff as usual. Much appreciated.
  20. I was just following the Pavis book where it states that the "The war gods of the Antelope Lancers are Yanafal Tarnils. Most of the lancers worship the Twin Stars as well. The Antelope Lancers are organized into 16 lances of 30 men plus an officer (who also serves as a priest of Yanafal Tarnils)." "Yanafal Tarnils was responsible for bringing the Lunar Way to the Dara Happan army. Yanafal Tarnils is worshipped by both officers and the rank and file in the regiments (although the officers alsoworship Polaris)." What magic would the Twin Stars give? Verelia and Erelia are their names yes?
  21. What kind of magic would a member of these people use? I'm making a Sable rider character who was a member of the Antelope Riders. In the Pavis book their runes are Moon, Movement and Beast, would this be the typical runes for each soldier or just representative of the regiment? They worship Yanafal Tarnils so death would be appropriate I suppose?
  22. Ah, I so liked Kaonu Windspeaker, his Three Horns in a Bag Bison song is still sung around the fire from time to time.
  23. Oakfed comes under the Burners. I was presuming Condor came under the Sky Gazers too, but likely wrong.

    Sentient animals?

Ive always run with there being a certain % of animals being intelligent. This comes from my childhood and the stories and fairy tails i was told. Fits for my view of Glorantha. They are the heroes of their species.
