  1. Ummm, aren't the Gloranthan beliefs based on real world beliefs? Although Heler is a Gloranthan god, it wouldn't surprise me if there's some rain god out there in RW that would heed the call if it was put out... Out of curiosity, how was this "concern" phrased??? Especially given the comments above above being in pagan moots...
  2. Ah, true. Currently, that theory isn't supported in the RQG. It's merely another human language spread by the Issaries cult.
  3. Aussies always wear thongs on the beach.... 😆 I'm curious about this "magical and easy to learn" Tradetalk... Did I miss something in the book that explains the mechanics for being easier to learn???
  4. I gotta disagree. Coming from both teacher and student, that doesn't seem the best way to account for learning. The best example I've got was doing formal logic. First couple of weeks was a PhD tutor - it was terrible! A few of us were going backwards (fumbles from the teacher). The real lecturer came in (finally) and the successes (and crits) were rolled! The way things were explained made everything easy... I'd almost take the student out of the roll (except for willingness, and whether what's taught is actually known), and leave it all up to the teacher's skills...
  5. Pushing my memory, but I've seen it somewhere (MRQII??) where quite simply the student adds the Teacher's critical % to the student's increase... Or something like that. E.g. Teacher has Teach at 60%, so Crit of 3%. Student and teacher roll for success. If both succeed, student rolls 1D6(?) % + 3% for this training increase.... Or something similar....
  6. Hey! They passed, didn't they? So they weren't that useless! Would those ideas include introducing a a Teaching skill???
  7. Perhaps something similar to languages? Or dialects? E.g., -20% or so for fairly similar weapons (shortsword to either dagger or broadsword), but not across handedness (1H to 2H) - bigger penalty?
  8. 5% per ENC... Not so much if you still want them to move 😋
  9. That's only if you gather enough people who.are willing and able to shell out that sort of money... And obviously, there aren't too many who can.
  10. And, I'm suggesting it's 'feel'' - with the skin at the location of the tattoo, not with the fingers... It's a "focus". It's job is to help.you "focus"... But, yeah, Glorantha varies...
  11. Have you actually read the latest iteration of Runequest???
  12. And a reasonable idea of the item's location, in order to have the right map (and starting point for the spell). If you've got zero idea) or you're just completely wrong, it's gonna suck!
  13. They certainly (can) do! Check the book...
  14. In reading this thread, I thought of, what I consider, to be a reasonable compromise... A 1.5H weapon skill... 1H sword for short swords and rapiers. 2H sword for greatswords (even if very rare in.Glorantha/bronze age) And 1.5H for those that can switch easily between both. Agreed. Personally, I'd make it:- Dagger Spear Sword/axe/mace (club) Javelin/sling/bow 1 Shield So, similar, but slightly different. Dagger, Spear (probably as Secondary Melee), Primary melee, Primary Missile, Shield.
  15. I'd be inclined to say that touching where the tattoo is brings it sharply to mind - ie, into focus.
  16. That's a bit nasty...
  17. Or, roll a percentile, and you can use it for any other roll in the next 24 hours.. (Yeah, a bit D&D)
  18. I'm sure I must be an idiot.. Wasting, say, 50RPs to get that 1 crit for 0 RPs doesn't make sense... The last paragrap makes sense 😛
  19. Wasn't there some rule at some point where you had to present the Death, and dump an MP into it as well??? (Obviously, not current rules)
  20. Agreed! What's the point of doing the casting when you can just claim the Rune as a cult skill to be improved, as per normal rules (which don't specifically mention Runes as cult skills, but I think they should be obvious!)
  21. Because Life without Death is.meaningless. And Death only exists while there is something that is alive to die. I'm sure CA appreciates the cycle of life, death, renewal... And the occasional need to end suffering (and Chaos). And Humakt, as much as he loves glorying in Death, likes to be able to live on to bring more death for longer...
  22. I'm confused... Perhaps I'm missing something, or my brain simply isn't working... But, once you've cast.the spell from the matrix, a) the RPs are spent, and b) the matrix needs to go back to the temple for the worship ceremony. Even with other spells, once you've cast normally, the points are already spent. So trying for a 0 MP crit is a waste of time...
