  1. P390, in the sub-section on inscribing spells - "Only the sorcerer may use the inscribed item to cast the spell." Pretty cut and dried, unless they're look I to change a very clear, specifically worded ruling. As for getting people to "donate" the power, I'm sure there will be ways around it... Like an adjusted Drain Soul (Int x ? to make such a spell... Maybe only 1 season)
  2. Obviously, cast before your Shield, because you'll have to overcome all that Countermagic and boosting 😛
  3. The effects of specials and criticals are too handy to pass up. Besides, logically, you don't actually know if the attack is actually going to hit or not, and no-one should know until *after* all dice have been rolled. The time saved is negligible.
  4. Ummm, a fairly obvious point to.make as to why use sorcery is Logician... It affects Alchemy, all those Lores (Plant, Animal, mineral), Treat Disease/Poison. Ain't no Rune or Spirit spells doing that. (Also, having a high Battle skill - also Knowledge and subject to Logician - means knowing where not to put up the healer's tents... Or help avoid casualties)
  5. It's only a focus, not an enchantment... If you lose your hand, it'll just take longer to cast.
  6. Vasana??? Which? Where? Because.... P374... Huge Air Rune on left upper arm, looks like Mobility on left thigh. Although, p402 looks like a Moon Rune ( :O), and 415 is slightly different as well.... I don't see no Truth anywhere...
  7. Some would say she'd need to reach up and grab a hold of it to cast (quicker), so perhaps not the best place for the Heal focus...
  8. Rare person... But anyone who does have it will also have the RPs for a big Shield as well! (Unless said pot of Woad has been stolen, or gifted to someone less capable).
  9. For RP purposes, the PCs roll a Battle check, as do NPCs on.both sides. If the commanding officer/leader orders something, do the PCs follow? (Not knowing if their rolls were better or not) Comparing levels of success, the Crit obviously gets greater advantage... So, Crit v Special, for example, the Special thinks they've forced the attackers to flee, but the Crit has just pulled off a great feint leading to a trap and complete rout.
  10. I'd suggest that only goes so far... Perhaps only 1 point per year - probably less )given that they can also get Spirit Magic). Maybe every 3-5 years they can get another chance to sacrifice for another Rune Point (for free)? Anything above that would take some incentivising...
  11. I suppose that should lead to a fairly obvious question.... Do enchanted items corrode?
  12. Yes, this. @soltakss pretty much covered it. But simply asked - This World or Heroplane?
  13. @David Scott in particular... Re: Heroquests and the garnering of spell knowledge. If there's going to be 3 levels or types of Heroquest (as has been floated around, and is in a Jonstown issue), which of the 3 would be required to learn a spirit magic spell, and which for sorcery? (I'm presuming 2nd level for Rune Spell, and 3rd for awesome power and unique spells/gifts).
  14. Can you still get down off a duck?
  15. Perhaps so they can say, "not by the rune on my chinny-chin-chin".
  16. Very interesting!!! Although, I was meaning that now the main spirit loses the spell, so can't be re-summoned to teach the same spell to a different person, as previous editions.
  17. This effectively answers (most of) my query - which is a *huge* change from earlier editions... The fact that the spirit will lose the spell, so there's no longer a reliable, re-summonable source for a spell. Still, the amount of time to find the right spirit with the right level of spell ...???
  18. Except.... If you want a 1 point Healing, or a 16 point Bladesharp, RAW it still takes the same amount of time. That's the bit that's actually inconsistent.
  19. That's a really good thought! Thx! I get that, but I was referring to the detailed 50L per extra point linear scale in the book.
  20. What good would an unintelligent duck be at fighting Chaos? And, if it was unintelligent, how could it even make such a rational decision?
  21. Except, that the shaman is part of a long tradition, and the information (such as locations or (true) names of spirits) have been recorded and handed down for centuries. Now, if the spirit loses the knowledge of that spell permanently, that changes everything! I can see this as a way of converting people to a new religion - offering discount spells. The idea that the costs of sacred herbs etc affects the price is interesting... But I'm uncertain about it - too materialistic and linear.
  22. Also from Six Ages, holding your sword in sheath up and away from you.
