  1. hahahahaha well for sure Elmal's lover/bestie is Heler, imagine if it turns out Yelm's wife Dendara is a mask of Heler/a ELMAL IS REAL AND NOT A YELMALIO SUBCULT
  2. oh to know the canonical name of the god of spoons just to taunt you
  3. why his pteruges no cover his junk and thigh
  4. How dare you insult the d12, a hardworking die that isn't responsible for the fact that nobody seems to love her (seriously, though, a d12-based game would be excellent?)
  5. I mean it makes sense that Iron should gank things; that's kind of the point of Iron. The only question is if it's working as intended, if it's balanced.
  6. That Uleria, of all the gods, tends to bear paired couples is probably a feature and not an accident, as you note. The Old Gods, which I tend to think of as "the Titans", who existed in the beginning, were all ungendered. It was the... well, burtae is I guess good enough, it was the burtae who had gender. Interestingly, the Entekosiad says Ul Eria - which means "Blue Woman" in Pelorian and is one of many borrowed DH words - isn't actually the name of the Titan, who is called Kassa. The text says Eth Elsor (probably "First Self", and another name for Uleria) "replaced" her. This usually is self-generation: a deity creates a new form of themself, such as Lodril's many emanations (Ka Charal [Primolt] and Re Dala Ma [?Ga] have Vi Saru Daran [Lodril], who bears Turos [Lodril again]). Thus her identity is the same, but she's undergone a transformation from her displaced and distant role as Kassa to her active role as an active god, Ul Eria, now associated with the Blue Planet.
  7. The thing about Entekos is that she's a female Storm deity with direly phallic imagery; we know her by a male Dara Happan name, EN+TEK+OS. Her Pelorian name and symbol is the infamous Addi, which is notably also the symbol of the Turoses, the lusty god Lodril and his sons, as well as the club of the storm god Doburdun. I think Addi might be Jernotie (that's -a/us, the ol' "Latinx" thing), unless Jernotie is what Larnste turned into. Dendara is clearly not the same entity as Entekos because she's a Water divinity, even in Dara Happa. Their division is I think the Jernotian riddle of the Entekosiad. Her Pelorian name is Fa Elsor but she is also identified as the "Striped One" and she is the mother of the seven phases of the Moons. Maybe she was the Blue Planet, or a river or a dragon, I don't really understand who she is. In the Empire, Dendara and Entekos are officially worshipped together for rain. So the real question is: is Molanni an actual deity? Or is she a remnant of Orlanthis mocking the Good Wife, and then the DHs just writing that into the story, misunderstanding it? Molanni isn't someone that you'd actually worship and she throws off the appropriate DH number of wife-applicant count. Is she real, or a weird kind of invention?
  8. O man it was like that a decade ago, it's why I stopped posting there
  9. Yeah that... doesn't seem correct. I mean, Iron is good but a Humakti would be a god-killer with that kind of skill...
  10. didn't Uleria also become the goddess of the hunt when she melded with Ulurda?
  11. It shouldn't; it should bring to mind Rashoran/a and Jernotie. Nysalor might teach Illumination but the Red Goddess always always claims Rashoran/a, Jernotie, and the Atarks, not Nysalor. Nysalor is just convenient because Illumination is Illumination, practically speaking, and the Solar Empire already was riddled with Nysaloreans. But the Red Goddess is tied to Entekos, the phallic Middle Air Storm God and Dendera, who was Uleria the Titan and became Uleria the mother of Moons and gained a water rune. These share with Rashoran/a and Jernotie and the Atarks a prehistoric and "monstrous" lack of fixed gender associated with the Titanic court. (Nysalor appeared as it pleased the viewer, but he was male: this was just an illusion.) Entekos is the Middle Air and Dendera bore the White Sun which became reborn as the Blue Moon when Yelm rebelled.
  12. ENTIRELY UNRELATEDLY, because the Sun Gods f*ck through a sheet when they aren't sworn to virginity, Turos being the exception ... is Molanni, "mother of Daga", somehow related to Entekos? Daga is paralleled by Yatelo the (deeply creepy) Hungry Sun in Six Ages. She is portrayed by Orlanthings as a woman in a submissive position. Is Molanni an Orlanthing interpretation of Yelm's Wife? Here's Yatelo, because everyone loves pictures. Also pictured: Inilla the Gatherer God looking sad and Elmal officially looking "vexed". (Six Ages
  13. You saw the list "Birthing, Community, Erotocomatose Lucidity, Extension, Reproduce, Sanctify, and Transfer Pregnancy" and asked what Community does?
  14. to be clear this is in fact mostly the Kingdom of Ignorance in Glorantha, I believe
  15. yes togas are for nice mediterranean climates, not roiling middle-of-America nightmare weather.
  16. and so you think in that climate you'd want to wear a toga?
  17. the temps don't get warm enough in fire season to warrant togas! I feel like maybe you don't really have a handle on this region's temperatures, like, it's 75 F during the hot month. the world record is 97 F in QC but that's global warming and freak weather, combined. Normally it's *twenty* degrees cooler - and that's Elz Ast with the Lunar cold block in place.
  18. "Elz Ast is an awful place" - Jeff At least I remembered it correctly. The real question is what idiots wear togas in what is essentially Wyoming, the Dakotas, and near-Canada
  19. Wasn't Elz Ast described as the city with the absolute worst weather in Glorantha somewhere? I remember reading about how it is like a pit of horrid mud swamps and Alaska mosquitos in the brief warm times and a frozen hellscape when it isn't. And when the Lunars did their "respite from the cold" trick, it was "horrid mud swamps and Alaska mosquitos, now with malaria"
  20. Isn't that more of a magical war than a literal one? I thought hollri were more a function of the environment than a producer of it. You'd want to fight the ice spirits, not the hollri, as they seem to be able to provide worship to deities. I mean, still kill the hollri. Don't need no hollri in your stead eating babies.
  21. so ... Storm Gern, how many sons did he have? Yes I'm still on the "Bisos is Waha" thing.
  22. Humaktis give up kin for a reason... they murder better than ANYBODY, even Zorak Zoranis. The only thing Humaktis need is some kind of tzompantli offering. In case this appears to be, idk, weirdly culturally-bound: tsompantli-equivalents were present in 1. Indo-European societies, particularly Celtic and Italic and Hittites (the Hittites were also were cannibals); 2. Sino-Tibetan cultures, including Classical China and the Tibetan Empire; 3. many other large, ancient cultures. I read a Hittite work in Hittite discussing how a ruler killed and ate a rebel's mother and sister and I also read Classical Chinese discussions of human sacrifice and cannibalism. The headhunting practices of the Gauls - they preserved heads in cedar oil and put them around their doorframes - survived the end of literal headhunting and to this day is a motif visible in French architecture. There's a really famous anth article about this but I'll be damned if I can remember the author's name offhand.
  23. i'm still unclear about Kero Fin, though, as it touches the Skyworld.
  24. there's no rabbi (or imam) who will say you can't eat what you need to survive, just as you can take medicines with alcohol as a Muslim source: I'm a Muslim (and I speak Yiddish)
