  1. Further notes on Vishi Dunn for anyone wanting to play the character. I have found a number of places where the character does not match the rules. This may be because he was originally created under a slightly different iteration, so without intending criticism here are the issues that I have found. He has clearly not taken the bonuses to two cult skills of +15 and +20 each. All of his cult skills are at the value that you get from base, culture, occupation & cult, apart from Peaceful Cut which should be 10 points higher and Meditate should be 5 points lower and so can't be explained by that. Ride High Llama is at 65, but before personal adds it should be at 60, so can't be explained. Should be either 60, 70, or 85. Likewise Animal Lore and Plant lore are both 45, but should be 40. Speak Tradetalk is 20, should be 25. Battle probably has 5% from family background so that's ok. Peaceful Cut should be at least 60, not 50 (base 10, culture 15, cult 20, modifier 15). Meditate is 40, but should be 35. Track is 10, should be 20.. In order to get the rest of the skills to line up, I had to take 7 skills at +10 and 3 at +25, rather than 5 at +10 and 4 at +25. In numerical terms, he's sold short by 40 points.
  2. That's an expensive option - iron reduces the chance of casting magic, but you need quite a lot of it to make sure.
  3. Limbs now need to take 3x damage before being severed or maimed, rather than the old 2x. Makes critical hits much more survivable.
  4. Fair point, Sever Spirit has the same mechanic. So where there clearly is an active side, it makes sense. Where it's a symmetric roll, I guess you just ignore crits and specials.
  5. Another quirk is, if you have an augment on your POW vs POW roll for casting a spell, does that raise your chance from 05% to 25% even if you are seriously out-matched (as happened today with a Humakti POW 13 vs Idrima)? I ruled that it did, but she failed anyway, but on second thoughts that would mean that the Crimson Bat would probably be taken down by four people casting Sever Spirit at it.
  6. I'm not so sure about it, the resistance table never had specials or criticals because it should be symmetric and not dependent on who is "active". If you're using it for an arm wrestling contest, both sides should have equal chance of critical success, and whoever ends up on the "passive" side is at a disadvantage.
  7. It took me a while to find Spirit Combat Damage, I was just about to post that you had missed it out! I think this should be up with the stats along side SR and damage modifier.
  8. 18 vs 6 is 110%, and 28 vs 6 is 160%, so either way it's the same. 160%.
  9. The Berserk Countermagic effect is fairly trivial - if it does work just like Countermagic like it says, it goes down as soon as the first spell hits it, and a 2 point Rune Spell or a 1 point with 2 MP boosting it will blow right through it.
  10. Special is probably over-stating it, but the way I see it is they are among the best that their generation has produced, the most dedicated and adventurous. So no, not all are as skilled, but not for any special reason.
  11. Nice. Is it done purely in a graphics editor, or do you have original files in some format that you render for a PDF? Does anyone have recommendations for good software for laying out character sheets?
  12. How about changing the top line to "Original/Max" and putting a / in above each space, and the bottom line to "Current"?
  13. SAN loss occurs when a modern, rational, scientific mind is confronted with the impossible. In Glorantha most people can believe six impossible things before breakfast.
  14. Thanks. One thing I haven't quite cracked yet is the sorting of skills into alphabetical order after translation. Categories will have to stay as they are, for layout reasons.
  15. Okay all that's in. I've contracted a few, e.g. "R HintB", "L VordB", does that make sense in context? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12RHsYJeJw8NtSubDE--MENwd6rhfZVe-9WgFeG52cwM/edit?usp=sharing
  16. Ok here's my next list: N/A Random Average Excluding blanks 1/MR Right Hind Leg Left Hind Leg Hindquarters Forequarters Right Foreleg Left Foreleg For all of the above, please can I have short, abbreviated versions for use in tight spaces, e.g. I use "ForeQ" for "Forequarters", "RForeL" for Right Foreleg", and "Excl blank" for "Excluding blanks". That will conclude the core mechanics. After that it's professions, species, cults, cultures, languages, family background choices, and miscellaneous instructions text. Rather than keeping on posting here, I'd like to give someone direct access to my spreadsheet so they can read and enter them directly. @Joerg, @Oracle, do either of you have a Google Drive account? Alternative to Google is to just download or copy the list into other software and email me the results.
  17. There is an errata download somewhere... Rick did it... can't find it now... Aha! https://basicroleplaying.org/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=3337
  18. I think joining Humakt is an option, because then you aren't kin any more.
  19. Bestiary p81: That's a special case in the Blinding spell, and it always struck me as odd that this one spell should have that feature, but should it be a general rule, that extra Rune Points spent when casting a spell boost the chance of overcoming the target's POW? Also, there's a subtle difference between "+25%" and "as if the caster had a POW of 23". The first wording would give a 30% chance of overcoming a POW of 100, whereas the second would not. I'd go with the second, allowing 4RP to overcome absolutely any level of POW is too generous. The Crimson Bat would be dead in seconds flat every time it showed up.
  20. The HeroQuesting rules will be built around the players and GM not needing to know the myths. Some examples would be good though, to give the group an idea of the sort of thing to aim for.
  21. Thanks, that might be useful if I have limited space. For the others, it doesn't really matter which I go for now, as I will "correct" them all to the official names when the full translation is complete.
  22. Thanks for all that! Stillstand is in the Quickstart so I'm going with that as the official translation. If you disagree, talk to Julia! "Fruitbasket" was just a joke based on what "Fruchtbarkeit" looks and sounds like. We make a lot of jokes based around the German language, it just sounds hilarious to us sometimes. I think it's because we have a lot of rude words that are derived from Saxon and Nordic words due to our French aristocracy 900 years ago. Thanks again! I'll post a new list of needs tomorrow.
  23. Any suggestions for the following, please: Alchemy Bureaucracy Cult Lore Library Use Celestial Elder Race Peaceful Cut Shiphandling Prepare Corpse Sense Assassin Sense Chaos Understand Herd Beast Devise Enc Length Rate If you follow the link in the first post, you will see my progress on the Translate tab. Any suggestions or corrections welcome! And here's what it looks like so far! p.s. Why do you have a "Fruit Basket" rune?
  24. The length thing is largely cosmetic, and mostly affects the CharGen tab where it just makes columns wider so you can see less of the character creation process at once. There are probably a few translations that will affect the layout of the CharSheet as well, that's going to be tricky.
