  1. I think it's entirely reasonable to make it more potent. How does it compare to other spells point for point? Is 2 points of Dullblade comparable to Demoralize or Befuddle? I guess it is better if you have a low POW and don't think you will overcome the enemy. If I was playing a Chalana Arroy healer, I might want to use it as a defensive spell. If another PC is going to attack someone who I don't think deserves to be attacked, I could cast it on the PC's sword as an indication of the strength of my disapproval. I think a shield with a built in Dullblade matrix, maybe with some linked POW storage and a trigger condition, would make a great loot item.

Absolutely. Adamant cancels magic though so it might mess up their digestion.
  3. The official rule seems to be that modifiers are added before the split, but cannot allow a split that could not be done otherwise. 98% +30% gives one attack at 128%. 102% + 30% gives one attack at 132% or two attacks at 66% each or other split that adds up to 132%. 120% - 30% gives one attack at 90% or... hmm, tricky, the rules say that each attack has to be at least 50%, so you can't make two at 45%... so I guess it must prevent splitting. Officially, Bladesharp adds before the split. Some think it should be after, so maybe the latter case should be possible if Bladesharp brings it back above 50%... but this is getting rather complex. Maybe this is why all adds go on before the split, because it avoids corner cases like this.
  4. The problem with any tactic like this, however, is that if you can beat it in a POW v POW to cast the spell on it, you could probably beat it in spirit combat as well. But the spirit combat might weaken your MP reserves if you are saving them for a bigger fight later on, so it could be strategically worthwhile.
  5. I think if you cast it before spirit combat, then I'd say the spirit would not be able to deliberately engage. If you engaged it, I don't really see how you can impose the demoralize mechanics on spirit combat so I guess it has no effect.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the human that swallows the truestone that the troll had swallowed. My suggestion is even worse than that for the troll - they lose their trollish digestive ability, permanently, as well as all their rune magic! I don't think truestone takes MP, though, so I don't see why they wouldn't fall unconscious. Anyway, there are various options, which is best for you depends on your sense of fun. I may be being unfair to you, but you were reminding me of GMs who enjoy nothing more than humiliating players by abusing their characters. Tricksters are fair game of course! I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't see any reason why it would do that. Doesn't sound like MGF to me either.

I reckon a blank truestone would absorb the magic from a troll's digestive system. A human could then swallow the truestone and gain trollish digestive powers.

Gold would give them severe heartburn, I'd think.
  10. Page title "No such app", content "There's nothing here, yet". I'm excited, though!
  11. I read the OP as saying "Dragon's breath that is hot enough to liquefy gold instantly would turn a green forest into a campfire just as fast". I think that's a little more reasonable, since fire that is hot enough to liquify gold is going to have a ton of heat in it that is not being used to liquify the gold since the fire is unlikely to be focused entirely on and into the gold. Depends on how damp the "green forest" is.
  12. I think inscriptions are how you are supposed to do that. One POW to get one free INT back, plus the inscription gives you a free point of manipulation. Plus you can start with INT 20 now.
  13. Engizi is tricky as well, I seem to remember.
  14. Yes, I forgot which way the clarification had gone. So if you have a DEX SR of 1 then you can cast Healing at the same rank as Heal Wound, if you have DEX SR 0 then you can cast it 1 SR earlier.
  15. Opinions vary as to whether the MP poured into the Heal Wound spell take up SR or not. I think the rules are fairly clear that they do, others think otherwise (and I may well houserule it this way). The main difference is the second point, that Heal Wound is unlimited. Also, you can use your Rune rating instead of POW*5 to cast it so you might be able to cast Heal Wound reliably even if you have a modest POW.
  16. Yeah, trying to be Star Wars and Star Trek AND an interesting and original bespoke setting in the same game system is a terrible idea.
  17. Chaosium PDF has not been updated recently, still says 10/10/2018.
  18. Yeah, this has really strayed beyond the realms of useful advice to the OP.
  19. Thanks to MOB for pointing out that Reid Hoffman was going to be on CNBC's The Brave Ones, I set it to record and watched it last night. Great to see the big bold "RUNEQUEST" and the new rulebook cover on TV, plus a Steve Perrin name drop.
  20. They care and have emotions, just very different ones to humans. Dragonewts are the ones with no emotion, or at least that's what they aspire to, and no-one says they are like Vulcans.
  21. A couple of seasons? Is Aldryami growth that fast? No, it takes 20 years to reach maturity. They have magic to grow trees quickly, and they are planning on using that to reforest large areas of Genertela in the Hero Wars, but I don't know that it can be used on Aldryami offspring. In any case, the Bestiary says that they rear individual offspring in much the same way that humans do, so although I love the idea, it's unlikely to be true. Maybe part of the reforestation plan involves large scale Aldryami reproduction as well as trees, using special magic, but probably not. And I still don't care, the only thing that made me think of a correlation between the two was that one line "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". The similarity of that one attitude, which as far as I am aware is a single line from a movie, is entirely superficial and for very different reasons.
  22. I don't think anyone is saying that we do. First point is fair, but I think it absolutely matches up perfectly with the latter. The individual is secondary to the health of the whole. Oh, I see what you mean about the Vulcan thing now. Still, it doesn't bother me that there is some other fictional species that has one line in a movie. I'm not going to abandon a good idea just because of that.
