OK, so I'm pretty sure I had a point to all of this but now it escapes me. Maybe I just needed to vent.

You should be a psychiatrist. I do feel a little better 😀

Honest to god, sometimes it *IS* just a need to vent.
I have seen the "write a letter" (you don't even have to send it) strategy praised.
Some people vent into a journal.

In any case -- or rather, in this specific case -- I'm glad "we" could "help" you!

I believe the strategy is definitely not to send the letter. The idea is for the person to vent without running the risk of suffering the consequences to doing so.

I half recall a example of this that went horribly wrong with the writer's spouse or secretary (I can't remember which), thought the letter was genuine, stuck in in an envelope,  and sent it off in the mail.

Chaos stalks my world, but she's a big girl and can take of herself.

I  picked up a copy of Star Systems the other day,. It's quite a tome. The level of attention to detail and the effort put in, to get the catalogue homogenous appears exhaustive. I don't know about venting. The experience may be cathartic but it is also objective. A great mountain has been climbed and the peak has been conquered and yes the immense hardwork to get there may have been grueling. However we in BRP land and gamers in many quarters of the RPG industry are appreciative and grateful for your efforts TooleyChis. Well done!

As in my last post here asked, POD perchance? Fillable PDF character sheets? All in good time no doubt.

Following hours of school exam marking, teacher's and parent's meetings, report filling out a fifty hour week for a month and the like, I am preparing to collapse over the Christmas finishing line. I suspect your effort has in fact been greater.

I'll try to set up a pdf Character Sheet of DTRPG today. This WAS on my to do list early on and got skipped. My apologies!

POD is a bit more of a problem as DTRPG is picky on formatting. I'm working on this as well. (Promise!)

But need to get my Starship Construction & I.D. book published first as it really is necessary for the mechanics. Systems and Starships will each be cheaper than the core because of this. 👍

I've placed a color and printer friendly version of the character sheets in the files section for convenience!

In the QUASAR universe there are several types of space habitats many races are using to increase living space, deal with over population on planets, and grow economies.

One such possibility used in the system is an O'neil Cylinder. These are mostly called Habitation Cylinders by other races. A completely enclosed, climate controlled, mostly self sustaining environment with imported land, lakes, and rivers. Not all space adventures are in space!

This video is a neat example of one such habitat.

Still chugging along on Starship Identification and Construction book. Had to redo some of the mechanics and ALL the starships because of this, which are numerous.

FB_IMG_1698612241293.thumb.jpg.7f58b0308747ba9e70e5878eaa437baa.jpgA lot of people have asked about Print on Demand so will work on that next.

Thanks for your galactic patience!

Been looking over the Print on Demand rules for Drive Thru. This is all outside of my paygrade and above my skill to comprehend much less implement. If someone would like to help with this we can work something out and make it happen, but until then I'm afraid POD just won't be an option. I wanted a hard copy as well... 🙄

I suspect you should be asking 'round at the Jonstown Compendium & Miskatonic Repository (Chaosium's "Community Content" programs with DTRPG).  While yours doesn't fall within the "CC" rubric (being neither fish nor fowl Gloranthan nor Lovecraftian) the POD-prep skills should carry straight over.

In addition to Chaosium's own official Ambassadors (Nick Brooke, Bridgett Jeffries, etc)... the fans of these communities actually have the layout/POD/DTRPG skills and can likely give you the help you need without leaning on "official" resources.

I'm not "buddies" with any of those people and hate asking for favors of strangers.

Not sure I want to buy new software for this project (InDesign) because the mark up on hardback books is so dang high. I'd prolly only sell them for a few bucks above cost and only sell a few.

Not looking at completing another project of this magnitude in the near future. Just not sure it'll be worth the additional cost or learning curve.

Am I being silly?

You could reach out to them with the *business* question:
How much would they charge?

(also:  do you know who all those community-members even are?  Maybe you know someone, and don't even know it...)

There's clearly a want, for this to come out in hardcopy; I do think it's silly not to at at least investigate the process.

But equally "silly" just to jump in whole-hog on something likely to cost you both a lot of time & money, doing it on your own.

Very humbled by the community support for my trilogy. After years of just putting stuff on BRP Central for FREE, I was nervous anyone would even be interested in a Sci-fi setting. I know fantasy is the main stream.

Thank you! 🪐🛰🚀

That said if anyone with PoD experience with DTRPG would like to tackle these books...maybe it would be easy for someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure we could work something out.M

Okay, so POD at drivethru might not be an option. Have you thought about Lulu publishing? They do PoD.

Just go with Affinity Publisher, it is WAY cheaper, and does (almost) everything InDesign can do.

I endorse this idea completely. Not only is Affinity much, much cheaper, and very capable, they still let you own the software you buy from them -- none of this subscription nonsense. And upgrades are free throughout major version runs (i.e. upgrading from version 2.0 through to version 2.99 is free, but when they eventually go to version 3.x you have to pay).

Nick is very, very helpful, and I am sure that he would not object to someone asking for assistance or advice.

I just looked at the samples for the three books in the Quasar line.  I suggest that you abandon the spacey black page backgrounds and go with more traditional blank page backgrounds.  That will make the books less expensive to print and, therefore, less expensive to buy.  Also, there are readability issues with the chosen fonts.  It would be nice if the Quasar core "preview" on DTRPG was more than just a partial character sheet.

Good fortune with the publishing and thank you for doing this work!

DTRPG changed their website format and previews changed as well, although it doesn't appear the publisher tools available are keeping up with the changes just yet. I still have the same page range for the samples which should include the entire character sheet. You're right, the page they chose is not good...

I've included a pdf of the character sheet in the preview but it needs approval. I'll include it here as well. Thanks for the heads up!

Working on a new Adventure Module but...don't wanna call them Adventure Modules in QUASAR. Suggestions?
Maybe "Database"? Since they will likely have new ships, deck plans for ships, new equipment, etc
