  1. I have played both RQ and HQ extensively, and for me the major difference is in the way equipment and items are managed. In RQ, if two warriors have both Sword 90% but one of them has no armour and the other one wears a full plate, you know which one is going to survive In HQ, if two warriors have Bad-Ass Warrior 4W1 and one of them has Full Plate Armour 17, the outcome is not that obvious. The armour may give an augment, but then the other player can probably augment with some other skill (Hate Lunars or Fight to the Death or Initiate of Humakt) and the fight will be even. So (independently from power level) I'd recommend RQ to players to whom equipment matters, and HQ to players who just like to come up with good ideas (which translate in bonuses) during play. Also HQ handles high level play better but is not necessarily restricted to that kind of gaming.
  2. Right... Those only make rich the owners of the licences... They are the ones who should come begging at us for writing games set in their licence
  3. Are pre-orders open yet? The text is unclear.
  4. There was a RQ6 panel at Bacharach, with Loz and Pete participating through a G+ hangout. Here's my transcript of the seminar: Timinits & Trolls: Design Mechanism Seminar, 27 May
  5. Realms of Gold and Victoria make me feel that at last there will be rules to emulate the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in gaming!
  6. That's the idea Of course she's remembered as a horrid, sadistic serial killer. But let us not forget that King Matthias II owed her an awful amount of money, and that she was rumoured to be a lesbian, so the whole "serial killer" affair could have been put up to get rid of one of the most powerful and independent-minded nobles in the Kingdom of Hungary. I think a campaign game where the PCs are in her employ and do not know themselves whether she's guilty or innocent would be terrific.
  7. Based on late 16th century/early 17th century Central European legends and lore; still sketchy at the moment: Lamentations of the Blood Countess
  8. Re: Shanghai-- The Celestial Empire covers China until 1911, so TCE + some good information about Shanghai in the 1920s/30s + a map of Shanghai in the 1920s/30s can be possibly enough to set a game in Shanghai in the 1920s/30s.
  9. Looks like you're up for an entertaining sandbox setting!
  10. There are many small "south seas"-style communities of islanders both to the west and to the east of Corflu. A copy of Men of the Sea would certainly be useful.
  11. Old school adventuring at its best. Plus it uses the original RuneQuest 2 rules, i.e., pretty much compatible with the BGB.
  12. This is of particular interest for any Second Age based games.
  13. A must-have. The cult descriptions are a source of inspiration for any Allegiance-based BRP organisation.
  14. You should have used the electronic version. The "search" function of PDF reader software does miracles
  15. It's a very short dungeon delve. Nothing special.
  16. I think you should really pick up one of these systems (possibly one of the free ones; I'd recommend the quick-start or Renaissance, or rather both so than you can compare) and then try and start running an adventure. I think you would quickly grasp the basics of the system and then realise how easily you can tweak it to your taste.
