  1. Sounds cool! I haven't heard about Aces & Eights before - what's the Shot Clock?
  2. I’m very happy to announce the winner of this week’s M-SPACE giveaway: MARCUS LEJA, Canada Congratulations Marcus! I hope you’ll get many hours of good gaming from it. The book is on its way across the Atlantic. And thanks to everyone who joined the giveaway. As I believe in spreading sci-fi roleplaying to more people there will be new giveaways in the future. I hope to see you again. Clarence Redd
  3. Just 10 hours left of the giveaway!
  4. Well, I truly believe more people would enjoy sci-fi roleplaying if they tried it. This is a small nudge to explore something new. And good luck in the giveaway!
  5. Just a quick reminder. We're almost halfway through until the giveaway ends.
  6. I hate February. It's dark and cold. Everybody seems to have the flu and here in Sweden we haven't seen much of the sun for the past 4 months. It feels like winter will never end. To celebrate that February is almost over I'm doing a M-SPACE giveaway. Just click on the link below, follow the instructions and you have a chance to win a copy of M-SPACE in full colour print, sent for free anywhere in the world. http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/4fe33d5e1/? The contest ends on Friday and the winner will be announced by email later the same day. Good luck and don't let winter bring you down. Clarence Redd FrostByte Books
  7. I agree. Combined with Streetwise, as you have here, it's very good. Looking forward to the mercenary.
  8. Nice to see a PC with Deceit among the top three skills.
  9. I'm not sure where I saw it first, but some GMs routinely go for 75% of the PC's abilities. So, for a combat encounter, they simply assign three fourths of the PC's Combat Style to the opponents. That way the resistance will always be in the right ballpark.
  10. I agree, subtitles would have been nice. I'm not sure anyone is up to hardcoding it though.
  11. Yes, it will be pretty cool I think. It's a talented bunch that's playing.
  12. Swedish YouTubers RPG Monday will play M-SPACE live tomorrow on Twitch! It will be in Swedish only, so if you haven't started practicing yet, you only have about a day to learn the language of ABBA, Ingmar Bergman and IKEA. As a bonus, you will be able to understand what the Swedish Chef actually talks about in the Muppetshow.* RPG Monday will take on the REFLUX scenario, and I will be present in the chatt to answer any questions from viewers. Link: https://www.twitch.tv/rollspelsmandag Time: 6.15 PM (CET) on January 15 You can also view a recording later on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGZG7rLj3r6P5gqrODGk9_w *Or maybe not, come to think of it.
  13. You can also check how Elder Godlike approaches superpowers: https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/16/16918.phtml I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard good things about it.
  14. I watched it a couple of weeks ago and it's a quite chilling view of the near future. There's a reason many scientists are calling for a ban on autonomous weapons.
  15. That painting captures the feeling I was looking for. It didn't show up much in the Valerian movie, but the comics are full of fantasy-tech worlds - very far from Tolkien. Steampunk Byzantium sounds terrific! I will see if I can make room for a sci-fi Constantinople in my own games.
  16. Hmm, I wonder if Mythic Constantinople can be easily repurposed as a 'Valerian & Laureline' type of sci-fi-fantasy city? @dragoner what do you think?
  17. For near-future settings, light and smoke grenades are good choices as already stated. They will give everyone a chance of repositioning without becoming targets. More deadly solutions would be grenades and autonomous drones. Just keep in mind that drones might be possible to hijack by the target, turning them against the original attacker. For high-tech games, various forms of protection will make players less hesitant to move around. The battle dress is an obvious choice, but perhaps let it cover only the head, chest and abdomen to make it less powerful. Personal energy shields can also be fun if they have some setbacks (limited operating time or slow-moving weapons not stopped like in Dune for example). Or perhaps a 'shield grenade', offering a powerful shield for only a few moments?
  18. Yeah, it's always a bit strange when none of the titles in a 'best of' list sounds familiar. Too many books, too little time I guess. All Systems Red looks interesting. The comment 'best depressed droid since Marvin' got me hooked.
