  1. Hey! I joined the Dark Brotherhood... You'll be getting a 'friendly visit' later.
  2. Ah, if only I'd done something with Aces High when I first thought of it 20 years ago:o I've heard about this! Think it happens in death valley. I thought it was something to do with the temperature changes but wikipedia haas something to say about 'Sailing Stones'... Anasazi get a big mention in New Mexico, quite an interesting bunch they were too...
  3. Aces High was aimed at the classic western period, pre-civil war to 1900. But it was written with the assumption that, with a little work, a game could be run at anytime there were people on the continent. That's why there's a sabertooth tiger amongst the critters, thats why the weapon list includes muskets from the 1600's, that's why the indians get so much detail and mythology included. Ideally, with an unlimited page count and endless free time, I would have expanded this idea. Sadly, I have a life too:o
  4. Balls! Can't find any references to a .65 Nock Gun but I have found .52 and .45 'sporting version'. I must have imagined the .64... I'll update the list. I included it in the revised weapons list because it is a firearm created after America was settled and I forsaw it as a fantastic weapon to scare the willies out of anyone it was pointed at!
  5. The Nock Gun is a particularly interesting weapon which definately needs some kind of clarification. I especially liked the wikipedia entry which states that the reload rate, muzzle velocity and effective range are all variable... I really like the idea that it takes 1/7CR to fully load it, 1/CR per barrel. That makes perfect sense. And the ability to only load some of the barrels when time is an issue also works really well. Having just re-read the burst rules I guess that does seem to fit too, although I had only thought of the nock gun as either an area effect weapon, or probably more like a shotgun effect with scatter shot. Over distance the damage is reduced, up close you get the full 21d8+7 You may have noticed that shotguns aren't covered in the revised firearms list and that's because they're going to get their own little section, clarifications, steroids. I do like the way you think. It makes me question the rationale behind some of my more spontaneous thoughts. But what you're saying slots in pretty closely to my own thoughts, which makes me happy. Kind of offsets the wait for New Mexico...
  6. Its on page 112 in the Psionics section "... whenever your character succeeds in POW-base resistance roll... versus higher POW... you should put an experience check next to POW... See Increasing Characteristics on page 186..." Page 186 has a section on 'POW Gain Rolls'. Which does go into more detail. Oops, just spotted this is the Legend Thread... please feel free to ignore me
  7. Maybe this long wait just means that it is going to be fantastic...
  8. Lasso appears three times as having a 10% base and only once, on the weapons table as 5%... Must have been some kind of brain stutter there. Like you say more common skills have a higher base %, that should have been true of Lasso. Many Thanks for spotting that. I'll add that to the list of revisions I like the changes you've done to the character sheet, especially the categorising of the skills. Putting all of the skills on the character sheet was something I deliberately avoided, but having seen what you've done with it I may be revising my opinion...
  9. Looks to me like this is an expansion onthe random armour points used in stormbringer. While i can see what you're trying to do I think I have to agree with SDLeary its an extra roll I could do without. Also, this seems to be a rule for melee weapons only and I would find it more difficult to apply the same concept to firearms. Leaving you with two seperate damage systems for all weapons...
  10. Merry Christmas and Happy New Ye Hars!
  11. There is nothing that even looks like a fairy in CoC V. There are nymphs and dryads in RQ and Preservers in ElfQuest but thats as close as I get .
  12. Get your pdf goodness right here http://catalog.chaosium.com/
  13. I think the problem comes from the fact that hit locations are an optional rule. Not all of the rules in the book take into consideration all of the rules in the book! That said, I think you have come up with a very good spot rule.
  14. Sorry I meant Contents page, the index is way to long... 15. Aces High: New Mexico has been uploaded to Chaosiums servers. Dustin said that it was possible that it would be available for Christmas. But they have that whole thanks giving thing to get through, whatever that is Still its a good feeling to finally make the submission. Who wants to see an index page?
  16. ITS UPDATE DAY There has been a title change... Incident at Alice was the title of the scenario but as the book has neared completion it became obvious that that title didn't really fit very well with the contents of the book. So, welcome to Aces High: New Mexico It makes more sense... New back cover text proposal... ACES HIGH: NEW MEXICO Dark Days in the Land of Enchantment An introduction to the mythic New Mexico of 1875, some of its denizens, its dark history, its ancient spirits. ‘INCIDENT AT ALICE’ SCENARIO When a clash of cultures results in a unique mix of sorcery and animism the players are involved in a race against time to halt the corruption spreading through a town called Alice. Three worlds meet here, the world of ordinary folk, the ancient pueblo Kachina, and the devils work. Each competes for dominance, to understand, to exist. One of them is winning. Being able to recognize the different philosophies and using them to their advantage may be the weapon that allows the characters to succeed or fail. WARNING: Incident at Alice deals with mature themes and situations! A companion book for Chaosium’s Aces High BRP supplement. I'm looking at submitting this weekend... stay posted.
  17. The red pen read through went pretty well, but did bring up a couple of fairly important inconsistencies in the scenario. I think that has been sorted out now. It bothered me a bit though, so I've done a big printout and I'm going to go through the whole thing, cover to cover. The cover illustration needs a bit of a tweak too. Give me another week or two before I submit it to Dustin. Once it gets to Chaosium I have no idea how long it will take to reach the printers... Total page count has finished at 129 pages. 15 pages of maps, some scenario specific, some New Mexico generic. 6 Pages of handouts 9 pages of NPC stats Some wholesome goodness Lots of unwholesome badness Political correctness has been double checked It is not a PG scenario... A handful of people were very helpful in beating this into shape and I'd like to just say 'Thanks Guys!'
  18. How about this? Still a mock up but more like what chaosium will do...
  19. Back cover text block... INCIDENT AT ALICE Dark Days in the Land of Enchantment There’s something not quite right about Alice. Perhaps it’s the isolation, perhaps it’s the infernal, ceaseless, strength sapping sun. Perhaps it’s the darn fine cooking! It all seems to be pleasant enough. The People are friendly, they’re always making sure you have enough to eat or drink. Some of them are friendlier than others of course. But still, there’s something not quite right. There are Indians in the hills and monsters in the mountains. Things that can send you mad lurk in the darkness, voices seem to whisper from the shadows, and the mountains glow with the very lights from hell itself. But there’s definitely something not right in Alice
  20. Thanks for the encouragement guys! I've got to sort out a couple of illustrations then its a print out and red pen check through. Shouldn't be more then a couple of weeks before I send it to Dustin. I'm quite excited with this. Put in a lot of work on research and found some really interesting stuff, hope you like it
  21. Good question! No idea what the answer is;D Suggest you ignore that sentence...
  22. Its somewhere here... http://catalog.chaosium.com/fdm_folder_files.php?fPath=3_5
