  1. Next year here's hoping we have a whole lot of new RuneQuest, HeroQuest Glorantha and even 13th Age in Glorantha titles up in contention for an ENnie too. But this year, we've got 10 nominations for Call of Cthulhu. Like the Great Old One himself, Chaosium is rising once again from the depths, and these nominations and your support are helping the company get there. Please consider giving these your vote: http://www.ennie-awards.com/vote/2017

That is correct. Since early this year we have striven to keep the Kickstarter backers informed about progress, with several updates each month. This information has also been relayed on the Chaosium news page, and here.

  14. I think that is the fundamental difference between the Brithini and the Vadeli. Both races are effectively immortal if they continue to abide within their rules and strictures, but while the Brithini live it to the letter, the Vadeli shamelessly exploit every possible loophole. Even though they concoct absurdly elaborate explanations to explain what they are doing is within the rules, they almost always seem to get away with it unscathed. Not so the Brithini.
  15. Back in March 2015, 771 backers brought the Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion to life. Backers are now receiving their copies from Sixtystone Press, and have been amazed and astounded at the sheer size of the book (739 pages!) and the breadth of what it covers. If you missed the Kickstarter, here's your one chance to get a Masks Companion of your own: Chaosium now has its royalty copies to sell, in a special hardcover 'Sandbat' edition. Chaosium's copies will be available for purchase as a print + PDF bundle on DriveThruRPG from 12 noon EDT (5.00pm BST) on Saturday July 1st. This is strictly on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Once Chaosium's allocation is sold out, the Companion will be withdrawn from sale. More details at the link: http://www.chaosium.com/blog/masks-of-nyarlathotep-companion-special-sand-bat-edition-available-from-saturday-july-1st/
  16. The Brithini. Lack of adherence, even inadvertent breaking of the rules, is punished by aging.
  17. Sweepers and Keepers, as @jajagappa mentioned earlier. Neither school is formal, nor do initiates choose one or the other way, but it is simply the way that the Healers think about the world. Though the Sweepers believe that life is sacred, they only go so far as to keep the living creatures swept away from the Hospital. The Keepers, on the other hand, try to avoid stepping on anything, and also leave insects, animals and in fact all living things unmolested and at peace. Where the Keepers reside or preside or are in the ascendant, such places are utterly infested with what others consider vermin. Insects crawl over everything (including the priestesses); plants grow in wild profusion through all the brickwork, etc.
  18. "Chaosium-Approved Cthulhu Madness" - indeed it is... This is Playstation Lifestyle's preview of the game-play in Call of Cthulhu—The Official Video Game, but it will also be available for Xbox and PC. nb Horror on the Orient Express writer Mark Morrison was involved in developing the story and the the RPG aspects of the game play.
  19. Personally, it's also a bit sobering for me to think I was involved in the first completely new Glorantha scenarios to appear for Chaosium/AH RuneQuest (Sun County, which came out eight years after the launch of RQIII) and the last (in Strangers in Prax), 23 years ago. We are going to ensure our new edition has plenty of Gloranthan scenarios to play from the go-get.
  20. Thanks Runeblogger! In your review you make the somewhat sobering point that The Broken Tower is the first official scenario published for RuneQuest set in Glorantha's Third Age (the "default" campaign setting) since 1994, when the scenario book Strangers in Prax was published for RQIII—23 years!
  21. A new RuneQuest Design Notes from Jeff, outlining some of the refinements to the rules we're making, based on the Free RPG Day feedback: http://www.chaosium.com/blog/designing-the-new-runequest-part-17
  22. Yes, exactly. The RQG rules as shown in the RQ Quickstart, and as discussed in Jeff's RQ Designer Notes articles, etc. Not yet.
  23. We are pleased to have appointed a new director of marketing and media, the writer, journalist and editor Lillian Cohen-Moore. Lillian's extensive RPG writing and editing credits include releases for White Wolf, Paizo, Atlas Games, Catalyst Game Labs, and many others. Lillian was also a Gen Con 2014 'Industry Insider', along with Greg Stafford and Ken Hite. Over on the Stafford Codex (Greg Stafford's personal site), Greg's got the transcript and audio of the panel they did together at the con. They discuss how the act of creating, exploring, and defining a game world resembles the creation and exploration of myth. Well worth checking out! http://www.staffordcodex.com/news/2015/1/1/gaming-as-mythic-exploration-gencon-2014-audio-and-transcript
  24. Here's what we're going to do going forward: Cult of Chaos Forum (password protected) - Discussion, questions, post mortems about "The Broken Tower" scenario in the RuneQuest Quickstart. RuneQuest Forum - Discussion about the RQG rules themselves, and the rules as presented in the RuneQuest Quickstart. No discussion or spoilers about "The Broken Tower" please.
