Colouring in the second printing is different, but for me it's hard to describe, what's the difference. And if it's better readable or not depends probably on your eyes ... But what helps a lot is, that the full Dragon Pass map from pp.134/135 is part of the Gamemaster Screen Pack in a much bigger size. In this version all names are clearly readable.

For the most cases I would go with Joerg's proposal, but for some I would use other translations:  Kultkunde I think I would like "Kultlehre" more, but that may be a matter of taste ... "Sense" can be translated as "fühlen", but that term has more similarity to "feel" than to "sense" in German. I guess I'd go for "wahrnehmen", which translates back as "perceive". Assassin would be "Mörder", which translates back as murderer or killer, and doesn't convey the ambush situation. Perhaps "Attentäter" is better, so: "Attentäter wahrnehmen."  My proposal: "Assassinen spüren" It's a valid translation to use "Assassine" for Assassin, which would also solve the translation issue Joerg has described. "Chaos fühlen" - here I think that "feeling" the Chaos like people feel bad weather in old wounds conveys the correct connotations.  I think here as well as above "spüren" is the better translation in this context. Belastung Maybe simply "Last" could be used here ...

And if you really consider to go into that direction (Trolls), keep it mind, what I've read in the beginning eighties of the last century (man, I'm really old ...), when I had my first contact with Glorantha: This sentence was one of the things, that hooked me up with Glorantha. The other one was: "I have several characters prepared for this game. A Humakti (kind of a warrior-priest), a barbarian, a nomad and a duck ..." "What? A duck?" "Yes, you can play a duck in Glorantha." "That's my character!"

Just learned, that The Red Book of Magic is a work in progress (similar to Gods and Goddesses of Glorantha), which is all I need to know, as I've never heard about this book before ...

Both books are game system independent, because they only enrich the background information for the game world. The Glorantha Sourcebook describes mainly the region of Dragon Pass, and therefore it is a useful (but in no way necessary) extension of the descriptions in RuneQuest - Roleplaying in Glorantha. It focuses on the history of this region, but includes also a description of the Lunar Empire's history. It also describes the Elder Races (Aldryami (Elves), Dragonnewt, Mostali (Dwarves) and Uz (Trolls). And it describes the Godtime, the era before Time began and its myths as well as the important gods and their relations. It also contains some more general information about Glorantha, but its main focus is the Dragon Pass region and its neighbourhood. (Insofar the title is a bit misleading.) The Guide to Glorantha is a two volume, 800 pages description of the complete game world. That means the really the complete world. But because it touches every corner in Glorantha, it is not as detailed The Glorantha Sourcebook. It is often said, that it gives you a view on the world from the height of 30km. Histories of all countries, cultural descriptions, points of interests are all listed. A thorough description of the mythical era before Time is also part of theses books as well as a description of the Sky and the celestial bodies and the relations to the gods. And so much more ... Because both books describe the game world, they can be used for RuneQuest - Roleplaying in Glorantha HeroQuest Glorantha 13th Age Glorantha as well as for any other game system, that you want to use with Glorantha.

Yes, that's probably right. I guess my view stems from the fact, that Lord of the Rings was my first fantasy novel, which impressed me very much (at an age, when I could really impressed still), and afterwards I found at least bits and pieces of it again and again and again ... not the least in D&D. But yes, looking at it with a bit more distance, there are a lot more influences that just LOTR.

In fact I would say, the trope setting for FRPGs is The Lord of Rings, which is also the role template for a lot of other fantasy novels and games - and especially for D&D, which was the first FRPG being published. But that's one of the reasons, why I like Glorantha so much, because it is such a change compared to all the copies.

The DriveThru sale is for the PDF versions only, and most of the titles of the Classic lines are available in this format only anyway. I'm not so sure regarding the full-scale maps of Balazar and the Elder Wild being part of the Runequest Classic reprint of Griffin Island. With the Runequest Classic Kickstarter these maps were two separate PDFs independent from the main PDF (i.e. they are part of the main PDF, but not in full scale - and that holds true with the Gloranthan Classic version too). And the respective page for the Runequest Classic reprint does not contain any hint, that these maps are included. But I may be wrong here ...
