  1. My understanding (based on what I've read in this forum and heard at the Kraken convention) is so far, that both will be part of the upcoming scenario book (the map as a separate sheet similar to the Clearwine map with the Gamemaster Screen Pack). I would expect, that the Boldhome map would become available at RedBubble around the same time (again similar to the Clearwine map). On the other hand I may be completely wrong ... 😉
  2. Ahem, excuse my ignorance, but in fact I do not. I've never had the honour and pleasure to meet Greg in person, nor did I follow all these educated discussions, that happened in other Internet places several years ago. So if you would be so kind to elaborate a bit?
  3. The following beasts (and their stats) are available in the new Glorantha Bestiary: Lions (p.150) Rhinoceroses (p.156) Sky Bulls (p.124) Titanothere (p.160)
  4. Enthralled is in fact the matching word. I discovered Glorantha in the eighties of the last century, when I had my high time of fantasy role-playing. I've even bought the first edition of King of Sartar, which was at the same time fascinating because of its complexity and its contraries (which made this game world feel so much more real than any other I knew), but on the other hand quite frustrating, because I was not able to get a clear picture at this time. (The latter may have been one of the reasons, why I never used Glorantha in one of my games ...) Some years ago I re-discovered Glorantha, and suddenly several thinks started to make sense. Real Life experience may have helped here as well as new information sources like the Guide to Glorantha or the HeroQuest source books. So I needed years to get into this, which means you are really fast to dive into this kind of discussion (which again can be at the same time quite fascinating as well as frustrating by reaching much more profoundness than I'm not even sure, if it makes sense to learn that). Welcome, Good Luck and Have Fun!
  5. I would also prefer a new thread (for the same reasons ...)
  6. I'm a player in 2 of @jajagappa's PBP/PBF games (one HeroQuest Glorantha, one RuneQuest:Adventuring in Glorantha), and basically it's the same experience as running a game with several people sitting at the same table. But as you may expect, there are some differences: a game session takes much longer in PBP than on the table. A session, which would be run during an evening on the table for 3-4 hours may need several weeks or even months played via an online forum. This depends heavily on the frequency, that the players are able to add their responses. This seems to be an obvious drawback (e.g. because of loosing gamers during a session, when Real Live matters are striking), but on the other hand it can also become an advantage: because you have more time, it is much easier to adapt your responses to the current situation in a more satisfying way. For example I have seen poems or vision descriptions (from GM and players alike), which were quite outstanding, and which probably wouldn't have appeared in this form, if played on a table. Another obvious advantage: You play with gamers, which you probably would never meet for playing on the same table, because they are located all over the world. (Ok, it's mainly USA and UK, but I'm for example from Germany, and I've also seen people from France or other European countries.) And as always it depends a lot on the Game Master and the player, but so far I was very lucky to be a part of these games ...
  7. As far as I know it will be published ...
  8. The maps you're talking about are for Griffin Mountain, not for Borderlands ... 😉
  9. During the creation of an extended Family History for a new RuneQuest Adventurer, I've realised the following: The Family History tables in the RuneQuest: Adventuring in Glorantha rule book seem to imply, that (at least in many cases) marriages happen after a child has been born from the relationship between the people to be married. Adventurer characters are born in the year 1604 (last section on p. 31) The parents of the adventurer, if married, would have been married by the year 1605 (boxed text on the top of p. 33). This was kind of a surprise to me, because I do not think, that this is the normal custom. But I may be wrong here, so I would like to know, if I'm missing something here ...
  10. And if the hardcover is already available on the Chaosium web site, and you buy it there, then you will get the PDF for free (as far as I know).
  11. And you will be even more impressed, if you see, what's in the boxes ...
  12. That was always my point of view too.
  13. When I heard about Greg's passing yesterday evening, I did not find the right words (and if you know me, that tells you something already ...). Not sure if that has changed now, but I will try anyway. Although I've never had the pleasure to meet Greg Stafford in person, reading all the comments in this thread, I'm ... moved much more, than I would have expected only 2 days ago. And that tells me, that he has touched me and influenced me more than I was aware. I had my first contact with Glorantha in the beginning/mid-eighties of the last century on a small RPG meeting in Berlin, Germany. A young french GameMaster had prepared an adventure in the Apple Lane area for introducing RQ3. GM: "I have prepared some characters for you: a Humakti, i.e. kind of a warrior-priest, a nomad, a primitive and a duck." Me: "Wait! Did you say a duck?" GM: "Yes. You can play a duck in Runequest." Me: "Then this is my character!" And so I was hooked instantly to Glorantha. And this would become one of my most cherished RPG sessions as a player. From that point whenever I thought about a Fantasy world, which was not simply a copy of the other great fantasy setting, J.R.R. Tolkiens Middle-Earth, I thought 'Glorantha'. At this time I was not able to use Glorantha for my own games, but after a long break I returned to the hobby some years ago, and I've decided immediately to use Glorantha now. And after detecting the Guide to Glorantha I was hooked even more. Also, I was always interested in the Arthurian Legends and the different versions to tell them (T.H. White, Marian Zimmer Bradley, Mary Stewart, etc.). And guess, whom I met again here. Greg Stafford and his King Arthur Pendragon! So obviously Greg Stafford has influenced me in several areas. He will be greatly missed. My sympathies are with his family and his friends at Chaosium as with all the friends, that he made all over the world. And all his fans I hail: Let's take up his torch and bear it further to honour Greg Stafford's memory by playing his games and researching and developing his worlds. The rest is silence ...
  14. Ah, I did overlook that one. This answers several of the above question - and I stand corrected. She is not the chieftain of the Anmangarn Clan (Black Spear Clan): (p.17) She's of the Taraling Clan, but she's not even Chieftain of this clan: (p.19) She has access to the Black Spear, because she is the Queen of the Colymar (after Kangharl "Blackmoor" was eaten by the Brown Dragon).
  15. According to the description of her counter from "Found Counters of Dragon Pass", a extension of the board game Dragon Pass by Avalon Hill, which was available as a Fundraiser for the Kraken 2019: Guide to Glorantha, Vol. 2, p.735 So yes, I would say she became the Chieftain of the Blackspear Clan.
  16. The Leatherette version of Runequest Classic / Runequest 2nd Edition comes with a full color dust jacket. Is this also the case with the Leatherette version of Runequest - Roleplaying in Glorantha?
  17. Because I'm quite intrigued by this discussion: where could I find this essay?
  18. I've just downloaded the file from the Chaosium site, and it still has the same issue ...
  19. Another important point with respect to the interpretation of the term God Learner is probably, if they called themselves God Lerner, or if the term has been created by non-members of this group (with kind of derogative meaning maybe).
  20. I think I've found the answer: the Newtlings Distribution Map does only show the distribution of young (tadpoles) and adult Newtlings. This does exclude Bachelors (which contrary to my initial impression are not adult Newtlings), but this is the type of Newtlings, which you can find along the Zola Fel ... So you can ignore this entry. It's not a mistake.
  21. p.14 The old RuneQuest modules Borderlands and River of Cradels gave me the impression, that there live Newtlings along the Zola Fel. The Guide to Glorantha, p.440: Rogue bachelors of the newtling race live in the Praxian river valleys. This is not reflected in the Newtlings Distribution Map. So is the population at the Zola Fel too small to be shown in the Newtlings Distribution Map, or is this an error in the map?
  22. @Rick Meints: Thanks for the short update in the Kickstarter comments section! That clears the fog over the quagmire ... 🙂
  23. Although I hate doing this, I think I have to do it anyway. It seems, that @Rick Meints did not login to the RuneQuest Classic Edition Kickstarter since his last update at the beginning of May, so the chance to grab hold of him may be better here ... First let me express my excitement about the new RuneQuest version a.k.a. RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha. I love, what I have seen so far, and I understand, that Chaosium currently is heavily concentrating on getting as much as possible for this new product ready and available as soon as possible. But on the other hand I would like to have the missing stretch goals available especially in this context, as I would try to use them immediately with the new Runequest. In the last update the main statement was Given the fact, that this statement is from May 3rd, and still nothing happened since then, I would say, it's a bit overdue ... Again, I understand the pressure, you're currently working on, but nevertheless I would like to ask kindly for an update (however small it may be) about the current state of this Kickstarter. This would move the state of my mind from guessing to knowing at least ...
